Cold showers, broken jacuzzi, surly staff

The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. I'm not sure if they ever have hot water or not. When we told them that there wasn't any hot water in the shower they acted the same way as when we told them that the door was broken to pool and we got stuck inside and two men had to help us pry the door open, like they already know but they are supposed to act surprised and say they'll look into it.

Pros: The mattress was comfortable amazingly enough.
Cons: Pretty much everything and everyone.
Location: Was visiting for work so we didn't visit attractions.
The photos on Expedia show a different hotel or a brand new room when this location first opened. The wall paper wasn't completely cover the walls, holes and stained chairs, stained comforters, sheets that barely stayed on the bed, cracked tile in the bathroom, bathtub from 20 years ago, fixtures that were barely staying on the wall. I'm pretty sure the microwave and refrigerator were the newest item in the room.

Howard who?

We thought that booking a name brand hotel like Howard Johnson would increase the chance of a nice place to stay. We could not have been more wrong. It was the most rundown hotel I have ever stayed in! Shower in the room literally had to be pulled almost out of the wall to get it to turn on. The picture of the pool on the website must be of another hotel! Our room looked out over the roof of the lobby and there were ladders and a bunch of other things up there. There was also a family that hung out in the breakfast area for hours with their luggage. Not sure if they were homeless or what the situation was, but it made us all very uncomfortable . For the $112 we paid we were definitely over charged for the quality of this place! It looked like the type of hotel that rents rooms by the hour. If we had not wanted to be close to our event and if the reservation hadn't been non refundable we would have gone somewhere else!

Hotel is run down and needs major attention. Breakfast was less than average. Staff was very helpful and friendly, the one plus of the stay.

We were visiting Spokane during a very busy weekend that limited the hotel rooms available. I took the Howard Johnsons because it was close to all the things we needed to be close to for the event that we were there for as a family. Our room was comfortable for a family of 3 (2 adults, 1 teenager) and the fridge/microwave were a big help. The hotel is located in a populated area with all sorts of shops, including a mall, within a few miles. The staff was friendly and helpful. We were allowed to check in early after having a long red-eye flight and they were willing to hold an item for us after our departure. The bathroom was basic and not big at all and our view was of the roof of the pool so there wasn't much to look at when we were in the room. Although they had a complimentary breakfast we chose to do something different due to the limited choices and lack of nutritional items. It was a great place for our situation and due to the lack of rooms available in the town of Spokane for the weekend. The best part was that Starbucks and Enterprise Car rental were just down the block about 100 yards. Made for easy coffee runs and easy car rental return.

One of the worst hotel stays ever

One of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. The room was dirty, moldy, and basically just unkept. The blankets were ripped and torn. There were crumbs in the bed. The staff was exceptionally rude. The room had no heat so they gave me a space heater. I could go on. They did change the sheets on my bed when asked and showed the crumbs from whoever was there before me.

The best thing was the restaurant

Pros: The restaurant across the street.
Cons: Read above.
Location: Italian restaurant across the street.
The bathroom tiles around the tub needed regrouted, the bed linens smelled of disinfectant, the headboard wasn't conducive to watching television. The television screen was small. They advertised an "excellent" breakfast - The oranges were small and starting to shrivel. The bananas were turning black! There was cold cereal, English muffins, bread, muffins cut up, imitation orange juice.

The heated pool was cold and the Hot tub was boarded shut. the room had peeling paint and the hall had drooping ceiling areas.
