“Good overall, but could have been cleaner”
There is a definite quality difference between this 2-star comfort inn and the 2.5-star holiday inn express next door, but I suppose that should be expected with the difference in price. The room was quite attractive but could have been cleaner. The only crib option they could provide was a pack-n-play that was rather dirty. The hot tub was out of order, but everything else seemed in good repair. Breakfast was fine also: nothing fancy, but plenty of variety.
“Ask questions before booking.”
Would probably use this hotel again, because of location and pet friendly. But would call hotel and ask questions before booking. Bring something to lock door for security.
“Okay place to stay”
I checked in late in the evening after being on the road for many hours. After unpacking a few things and getting ready for bed, I discovered the carpet near the bathroom was saturated with... who knows what. I called the front desk and she said she'd be right down. After waiting 15 minutes, I packed up my things, got dressed, and went to the front desk to ask for a new room. She kept asking me what had caused the wet carpet. Being tired and not happy about stepping on something wet by a bathroom, I finally had to tell her to stop asking me why it happened and just give me another room (which she did). Call me crazy, but an apology might have been nice, something like... so sorry ma'am to inconvenience you at 10:30 at night and to keep asking you inane questions that perhaps only a plumber (or psychic) could answer. The new room was ok. The shower handle was loose and it was tough to turn on and off the water (more plumbing issues...) But is was clean and the bed was comfortable.
“Pleasant stay”
We enjoyed our stay. The room was pleasant, breakfast good, great to have an indoor pool when it's cold outside!
“Great Stopping Point between Springfield IL and Hannibal MO”
This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel. It's a good stopping point for us and we have found it to be friendly and clean both times we have stayed there. They are undergoing some remodeling but it didn't bother us. Bad thing is that this hotel is right off the highway but there is nothing else around it. There is another hotel and gas station with a deli in it. If you are looking to eat a nice meal you won't find it unless you drive on into Jacksonville itself. Breakfast was good although we had to let staff know that some items needed refilling. Parking lot was quite treacherous in the morning due to snow/ice mix the night before. It didn't look like they had done any salting. Being from a northern state we were surprised to see nothing had been done to keep guests from slipping and falling.
