Just a basic room - no breakfast or restaurant.

Posted Aug 12, 2014
Pros: Quiet. Parking was convenient. No frills. So the price was ok. Convenient to expressway.
Cons: The carpet seemed damp - I think it was because of the weather - rainy couple of days and high humidity. A/C did not get rid of humidity.
Location: stayed there to go to the state fair. Probably would stay there again if all the other hotels in town weren't full. Nothing to do near this hotel.
Price was good, since I just needed somewhere to sleep and didn't care about no swimming pool, no breakfast, no coffee maker in the room. TV was old-fashioned, not a flat screen HD. It was quiet!! That was nice.

NOT AS ADVERTISED!

Posted Aug 11, 2014
Pros: no
Cons: Advertise it the way it is NOW, not the way it was going to be!
Location: Springfield, Illinois. I was in town to work the state fair
This hotel was sold to me as a totally remodeled hotel. Upon entering the room, i immediately was overwhelmed by the stinch of cigarette smell that lingered the entire stay. The sink in the bathroom was pulled away from the wall and looked like it could fall anytime. Nasty stained carpet. There were no bugs and the shower was hot. I was only there to sleep so it was at least tolerable. I would never pay what I did for this room in the shape and condition it was in. Now I see why it was the only room available in the city I needed to be in for that weekend. I will never stay there again!

Carpeting stinks, literally

Posted Jul 1, 2014
Pros: The clerk was honest about price and renovations.
Location: I was just passing through
The smell of second hand smoke was overwhelming. I was told they were in the process of renovation. I was even offered a look at the room before I signed up. I know the price was low but it was not anything like the pictures I saw online. I was weary from driving so I didn't want the hassle of looking for something else in the evening. Shabby would be a proper description. I am a senior woman traveling a long way. Next time, I'll open the wallet and get something better. You get what you pay for is the adage that comes to mind.

Despite the outside of the hotel looking rundown..

Posted Jun 23, 2014
Cons: The outside of the building looks rundown. It could use some freshening up.
Location: The neighborhood wasn't the best but the room rate reflected the area.
the hotel was clean and very comfortable. "Don't judge a book by it's cover"

Room not clean

Posted Jun 19, 2014
Pros: It was available, when our regular stop was full.
Cons: Major overhaul and remodeling of room. Most hotels are now smoke-free throughout the facility; this should follow suit!
Location: Just passing through.
Our room had a bad smell: very stale and musty. It was called "non-smoking", but had not been for long. The carpet was damp throughout (maybe from shampooing to get rid of the smoke smell?) The furniture and plumbing fixtures were old and in need of replacement.

Hotel is pretty old, can be maintained better

Posted Jun 16, 2014
The staff is friendly. Hotel is pretty old, can be maintained better. Bad smell in the hotel. Some of the utilities are out of working condition. The staff is friendly. Hotel is pretty old, can be maintained better. Bad smell in the hotel. Some of the utilities are out of working condition.

Terrible

Posted Jun 12, 2014
Pros: Nothing
Cons: It should be properly cleaned and freshened up and aired out.
Location: The location was fine.
The room stank of smoke even though it was a non smoking room. It was not clean. The facecloth had black crud on it. The hanging shelf thing for hanging cloth was falling off the wall. The sheets had stains. The space was small and uncomfortable. I understand that for about $50 I should not expect much, but this felt like a room out of a horror movie. I have stayed at Red Roof Inns before and they are usually much nicer.

for the money, you can't beat it.

Posted May 30, 2014
Pros: the cost
Cons: you should be able to pay for the room for someone else - that was dumb
Location: springfield has a ton of things to do - great area!
easy check in, the only problem was I wanted to pay for the room for someone else, and they woulnd't take my payment. so I then had to go ONLINE through Expedia and book it through them - that was a hassle and it cost more...
