So-so, old but clean

Posted Apr 9, 2014
Didn't appreciate the housekeeping staff knocking on my door every 15 minutes starting at 9 am asking if I had checked out yet. Otherwise it was quiet and clean.

Nice 66 Museum Bad 66 Hotel

Posted Nov 9, 2013
Pros: Very little
Cons: Bar and restaurant closed too early. Shower stall was a ghetto.
Location: Wasn't there long enough to find out.
Arrived 6:15pm. Waited to eat till just after 8..restaurant closed! Went to the bar and due to slow business, they coded by 10:30. Went to my room, and saw that the bathroom sink was plugged. Mentioned it to the front desk..AFTER someone decided to come bak and work it..no response or suggestion of help. Morning breakfast was cooked by "the bosses", because the cook was sick. Too much attention paid to their Route 66 memorabilia and artifacts. and little time spent on rooms and services.

Clean and cheap

Posted Nov 1, 2013
Hotel was clean and comfortable. One bed was very noisy, every time you rolled over it sounded terrible! The other bed was fine. Very little insulation, when the people in the room next to us got up it sounded like they were in our room. That being said, for 1 night the price was low and I would stay again.

One of a kind

Posted Oct 28, 2013
Cons: Carpet was pretty worn.
Location: Lincoln Museum and home. Great!
We loved this quirky, retro 1950's style hotel. It was a tad shabby but if you can overlook that, it was quite a fun experience for my whole family. The reastaurant and bar were great, and the staff extremely helpful. We had pets with us and everyone was very accomodating and kind. We were put in 3 adjoining rooms in the pet wing away from others, and we appreciated that a lot. I would recommend this place to anyone who dislikes cookie cutter motels and has an open mind about unusual places.

Room disappointment

Posted Oct 28, 2013
Pros: location to event.
Cons: smells and need to see that everything in the room works.
Location: Food places across the street but you could not get to them off 6th street. I had to ask how to get there.
There was a strong cigarette smell in the hall that was overbearing. The room smelled of comet or something like it. I had lysol in my car so I brought it in and used it. It did help. Sat.morning I got up showered and went to dry my hair and the hair dryer did not work. I had to go stand outside at the event I was there for in 35 degree temps with a wet head. I don't know if I would stay there again or not.

Always loud

Cons: Hotel staff could start vacuuming later in the morning than 5am
If you are a deep sleeper, than you may tolerate this place. Otherwise, steer clear.

Overnight stay in Springfield

Posted Oct 16, 2013
Pros: The old time feel was my favorite part
Location: Located close to expressways and Route 66. Many historical sites and attractions are all around, located pretty close
I had previously stayed at this hotel and decided to try it again. I got a little turned around on the road but when I called the front desk, the lady who answered gave me great directions. I got to the hotel around dinner time and was pleased to find ample parking, even though the lot was relatively full. I wandered around to see if there was anything new there since my last visit. I was pleasantly surprised. The old time decorations were great. I also discovered that they had added a bar. The room was as pictured on their website and was quite comfortable. The large screen TV was set up so that the peoples' heads were cut off and some of the local channels were all snowy(the weather was a non-factor). I had breakfast at the on-site restaurant the next morning. The staff was excellent and the food was adequate. I needed directions again in the morning and the staff was amazingly helpful. Overall, it is really a great place to stay and it's very close to quite a few local attractions.

A good value

The hotel is a bit dated, however, the bathroom was completely remodeled. The beds were soft and the TV was on it's last legs but the history and memorabilia in the hotel, was a nice addition to the stay. For the price I paid, I received a very good nights stay. If you want high end, pay high end. If you want middle of the road, this is a good option.

Lots of history and brought back past memories.

The motel was nice, but terrible bed. Sounded like it was broken box spring. My wife and I kept rolling to the middle.
