Misleading description. No amenities.
None of the amenities advertised our present. None. I am recovering from nerve damage so it’s quite difficult for me to walk. I chose this location because the description mentioned a restaurant onsite and wifi in the room. They offer neither. They don’t even have coffee and tea in the common area. They were clearly very happy to provide whatever service they were able to provide. Unfortunately the amenities that they advertise are not there. The hotel shares that the reasn for the lack of amenities is Covid. While I’m sure that that is the case, the description needs to be updated. When I appeal to hotels.com to refund me so I could rebook somewhere else they gave me a lot of resistance and just did not support me at all. If I was to have left it would’ve been a total loss of the money for the reservation. I’m disappointed in the hotel as well as hotels.com. I will say though the hotel has the absolute best view of the sea and seen in the whole city. It’s beautiful to see the sunrise and the sunset!

Sai Sea City Hotel is a thug. A thief. They charged full price for 10 nights, then sent a note that they are cancelling reservation due to over booking and will refund the amount. They never refunded any amount. I booked elsewhere, once I received a note from Sai Sea City Hotel about the over-booking and the cancellation, but still got charged. Sai Sea City Hotel is a Thief. A Thug.

Isolated and run down establishment
This hotel is 10 kilometers from the city. It is indeed on the beach but the hotel photos conveniently miss the train line separating the two. Trains come through regularly so noise is an issue. Missing bedside lamp globes, a main light that strobed when switched OFF and a door lock that fell off complete the picture. Best avoided.

Awful place
First, rude and unhelpful front desk man. Second, it's located in the middle of nowhere. There's a beach nearby but you need to risk your life crossing through several rail tracks. Third, there's terrible Internet connection, and it's not possible to get laundry or food. Fourth, if you're above average in height, their 'queen' size bed will be too small for you.

You get what you pay for.
There were ants in our bed, the toilet was dirty, I ordered fried eggs for breakfast, got raw eggs. Wi-fi only works in the reception area. Except for that. It was ok.

nice enough hotel we were however abit annoyed that they wanted $20 to check in an hour early when there was lots of empty rooms and we had just flown for 15 hours no sleep we have not experienced worldwide that strictness on check in before.is a little noisy at night as on the coast road and a long walk to any sights or restaurants I would recommend staying in the north fort area

It was an okay stay.
First of all the staff is very good. But the front desk manager does not know how to treat and speak to customer (sumugan). He is very rude. The bathroom is not clean enough and smells. The tea cups are washed in the bathroom sink which should not be done. For a double room there is only 1 AC which is not enough. We stayed 8 days, we did not have a TV until the 6th day because they did not set up the network. I don't know how they even got 2.5 stars.

Close to the sea for a refreshing breeze.
The area is ok for food with a mix of different restaurants , from get your finger in to some thing with a little more refined. The hotel is a bit poor , over prised for what you get, but that seems to be the nature of Sri Lanka. Tourists get a rough deal in my opinion .

Good property on the Marine Drive. Maintenance is an issue as almost right through our stay we had to call for help as the TV was not working .Found it strange that a guest has to collect his quota of drinking water from the reception. Unprofessional staff

Room was OK. Internet available only in lobby. What was a good deal became a not so good deal when I was billed for the breakfast and was led to believe the room came with a breakfast. Hot water was not always there. The upside: the breakfast was varied and tasty, but the service was not focused and left you wondering. Talked with another guest and she mentioned this is what they do and she had stayed there many times.

Polite staff. A bit away from Colombo train station but the location was good for us - close to the sea. Our sea view room was clean and the bed was comfy. The bathroom was okay. The room was small and with the over-sized wardrobe it felt crammed. There was some drilling and banging going on in the hotel all day which was rather noisy. Overall its a nice place.

Horrible customer service; AC not working
I arrived late at night. I emailed the hotel asking for a airport pickup - which they gladly obliged for a fee. Thats where the positives end. I arrived at the hotel close to midnight and the night duty front desk dude sat there staring at me for a moment - before asking the guard to unlock the door. He did not seem to take an ounce of interest and I did not feel welcomed. The AC in my room did not work at all and I got no sleep. When I mentioned the same, he said to give it some time. All night long, the AC never cooled the room at all. When I mentioned it to the morning staff, they were apologetic - but made no effort to make any amends to put a smile on my face. Will never stay again.

On a budget? This will do you nicely!
This hotel was fine, and served it's purpose - I was in Colombo for a few days and needed a base to go out and see the city. The rooms were clean, and a were a decent size. A few things worth pointing out to future visitors- it's quite a way from the centre of Colombo, as in, it's probably too far to walk (especially In the heat). As long as you don't mind catching local transport (bus, train or tuk tuk), it's easy enough to get in to the main area - all very cheap to get around. The hotel is also quite noisy, if you're a light sleeper maybe look for somewhere away from the train tracks (which run along the shore front, basically the length of Marine Drive), as the service starts at approx 4:30am, and goes till 11pm - and the train drivers are not shy in using their horns!! The staff who worked there (porters, housekeeping and security) were all lovely, always friendly and smiley; it's just the management (reception) who seemed a little disinterested and that you were almost a burden when you required assistance! I hope I haven't been too negative in this review, it's was a nice hotel for a budget. I would recommend this hotel to my friends should they be in the area.

We enjoyed our stay at the Sai Sea Hotel. Rooms were clean & beds very comfortable. Bathroom was nice too. Meals were tasty & reasonably priced.

Had a great time in Sri Lanka, found that this hotel was close to local amenities. Hotel staff were so helpful and friendly. Hotel was nice and clean on arrival every time. Bed was so comfortable. Fully air conditioned rooms which was great.

5 min tuck tuck ride from centre
Exactly what I needed, cheap but clean and helpful staff. Bottled water in the room, air con worked, web was reliable. Taxi from airport didn't like it as bit further south than they expected, but that's their problem if you tell them where you're going, they never really seem to know. Getting back there just remember it's the 40th lane on Marine Drive facing sea.

This hotel cuts corners on everything. Extremely frugal. Absolutely no amenities in the room. Breakfast without fruit. No services. Basically a generous 2 stars but more accurately 1 1/2 stars and definitely not worth the $100+ price.

The hotel is low cost but the rooms are clean, safe, the bed was comfortable and the wi-fi is free. The staff were friendly and helpful. This is not a fancy hotel but purely functional and it is quite satisfactory. Some of the rooms have views over the sea but between you and the sea is a railway line. Galle Road is in easy reach and there are plenty of taxis and tuk tuks to get around.
