Nice Hotel, an Exit from Historic St. AugustinePosted Nov 12, 2013
Pros: The breakfast was good and the staff that was running it was very pleasant and helpful.
Cons: Larger pillows!
Location: We were only an exit from historic St. Augustine, the outlet was across the street if you wanted to shop and there were plenty of restaurants around.
The hotel it self you can see is very old, however the rooms have been nicely renovated. They were in the middle of upgrading the breakfast area, however they kept it very clean every morning. We stayed in a king room, it served its purpose for sleeping and showering. The bed was comfortable, but I would suggest bringing your own pillows or asking for more. They are very small pillows, about the size of a couch pillow. The a/c in the room was not upgraded. Although it worked very well it seemed to get too cold at night, so you did have to play with that a bit. Not sure if it was the cable or the remote but at one point I gave up on the t.v. the sound would just mute its self so if you wanted to flip through channels that was difficult. It's vacation so didn't need the t.v much as there are so many activities around you.

How did this hotel get Stars?Posted Nov 10, 2013
Pros: Nothing…see above.
Cons: I am not going to waste my time suggesting improvements. It's a hotel chain and there should be certain standards in place that can be expected.
Location: Right off I 95 and easy to find. Great Outlet Mall close by for shopping.
The Great Western Hotel Chain is supposed to be animal friendly. We booked 2 rooms for a family of 4 and 2 small, well- behaved dogs. We were charged $60 extra for the dogs. Our rooms were smelly and dirty, with broken furniture, making us feel like second-class citizens. All around this motel (it cannot be called "hotel") trash is piling up. Pool had no water. During our first night the rooms had no water. Toilets could not be flushed, no shower or even brushing teeth was possible. As soon as it got light the next morning we called to see about moving to a different hotel for the rest of our vacation which was getting spoiled by this awful place. The young woman at the exception was snippy and rude, but agreed to release us from the rest of the prepaid stay due to the no water situation. Very poor quality of included breakfast as well. We didn't bother to eat any of it. This is probably the least attractive place we have ever stay at anywhere. Expedia booked us into the La Quinta…which was 100 times better for only a little more money.

Pros: location worked for us. Complimentary continental breakfast with other diner options close by. Short drive into pretty town of St. Augustine.
Cons: No espresso nearby.
Location: Good dining in St. Augustinec and a pretty place to visit, Outlet malls across street from hotel for those who enjoy shopping.
This hotel served its purpose - meeting but not exceeding our expectations. The only real flaw is that we were unable to get an extra blanket after the housekeepers had left for the day.

Newly remodeled motelPosted Oct 30, 2013
The facility is old, but the rooms have been recently remodeled and are clean and comfortable. Continental Breakfast was average, but appreciated. Definitely would stay there again.

Clean room at a reasonable pricePosted Oct 7, 2013
We enjoyed our stay. We wanted a clean bug free room and that is what we got. We would go to breakfast then return to the room. The cleaning staff always waited patiently for us to leave without rushing us or continuing to knock. The room was always spotless. The pool was clean and well maintained. The only disappointment was the breakfast. You could have waffled - no sugar free syrup - or toast or a small Danish or cereal. The room appeared to be a converted guest room - very cramped. The attendant was very nice and tried to keep up with the influx of guests. Most people took their food back to their rooms. Overall we got what we paid for and enjoyed the other aspects of our stay.

Pros: The price
Cons: Perhaps the breakfast could have been available later than 930am, but early times for complimentary breakfasts are typically very early.
Location: About a ten minute drive from Flagler college, and 15 minute drive to the wonderful beach. Pizzalley's italian food was great.
This hotel was a great price and comfortable. We were there to check my son into flagler college. The hotel was easily accessible to everywhere. Housekeeping did well, the staff was pleeasant. There was no problems with bed bugs or anything displeasing. The compliementary breakfast was pretty good with all the basics including cereals, danishes, waffles, fruit and beverages. I have no complaints.
