“Can't wait to stay with you again!”

Great stay.Wonderful staff.The breakfast was always the best.I stayed for three days,housekeeping did a nice job too!I do plan to go back to St. Augustine,and I would make this hotel my place to stay again.Can't say enough good things about it!!!See you soon!

“great stay”

me and my family stayed sept 9 threw the 12 we had 2 rooms me my wife our 2 small kids ages 5 and2 stayed in one room and my parents stayed in the room next door my parents ages 75and 70 the rooms were nice not as nice as the country inns i have stayed at before but nice the staff was outstanding friendily and very helpful they had great blueberry cookies and mints at the desk [free] and always glad we got some we got plenty also real nice about giving us extra soap shampoo and towels great hot breakfeast eggs sausage ceral 4 kinds hot oatmeal toast jelly all you want to eat we ate plenty located 2 blocks from red trainstation and next to floridia school for the blind on the main strip will only stay at country inn when we return to st augustine the onily down side was the pool was very small but the had a kiddie pool overall great stay i would give this motel a 3 star rate highily under rated also had a free gym they made you feel at home great place

Area recommendations

stay on san marco historic distric almost everywhere is paid parking and who does not like rideing on a red train i highily recommend the country inn

When to go

i highily recomend around the 8th of september that is thier founders day lots of fun reinactments not crowed at all and the weather not so hot

Getting around

use the red train they are the most frienily and not that pricy they also stop at most places u want to go and they tell you about the sights love the red train almost as much as the kidds maybe more lol

Must see

ripileys believe it or not is a must see for all ages i recomend a combo pack so u can ride the sight seeing train[a great way to get around town] also the pirate musem and the light house are great i would skip the old city jail what a rip off; the fountain of youth is a must see as well as the main fort

we found a great buffet called the new centry buffet on us1 south about 3 mile from historic distric great food great service and good price the even had a hibotchie grill all for 9.49 now this was in september

“Good location, great price”

This was my second visit to this hotel. The price is great and location was good. Not too far from all the museums, the fort, restaurants and shopping. The first time we were here, we walked to everything. I dont necessarily recommend that. It was just a little bit too far but it is a very quick drive. The rooms were clean, restrooms were acceptable. We stayed on the 2nd floor the first visit, and the first floor right next to the pool on the second visit. Both rooms were very quiet. I dont believe the maids changed the sheets in between the days we were there (2 nights), they just made the bed. But I dont know if that's a special request or not. The free breakfast was a nice perk. They had a different selection both mornings. Waffles, biscuits and gravy, sausage, cereal, oatmeal, different juices, coffee, etc. Good selection for being free. Overall a good hotel and I would most likely return for another stay.

“July 2011 Visit”

Hotel is nice, just a little bit of a walk to all attractions. No longer than 30 minute walk to anything. Just if you want a good, restful sleep and it is a busy time of year, you may want to look elsewhere. Walls are paper thin and can hear everything next door, but hotel will be accommodating in moving to another spot.

Area recommendations

San Marcos fort, the Old Jail, and downtown. A short drive to Fort Matanzas, which is a free must see.

“Not impressed”

I choose the hotel becuase of location to attractions. The location was misleading. The room needed updating, The A/C vent was black from either dust or mold and the carpets were frayed. The bathroom also needed updating. I will NOT stay there again. Pool was very small. Breakfast was good.

“Clean, Friendly, Good Value”

Front desk friendly and helpful. Room clean and everything in good working condition. Close to Downtown Saint Augustine--about a mile. Nice continental breakfast. Pool area nice but pool water cloudy---pool may have been treated at that time, we didn't ask. No smoking/no pet hotel so the rooms had no odor of pets or cigarettes which was a plus.

Castillo de San Marcos, Saint George Street, Oldest Schoolhouse, Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum, Fountain of Youth, Flagler Museum, Oldest drugstore, Ghost Tours, Saint Augustine Lighthouse, Anastasia State Park.

“Nice stay for the price”

Overall this was a nice hotel for the price paid. I would stay here again. It was a quiet area a mile or so away from the tourist areas. The pool area was small but adequate. This was expected after reading another review. The breakfast was ok. There were people waiting to sit every day. It would have been nice if there was additional seating. There was a waffle maker. There were at times 5 people waiting to use the waffle maker. They could use another one. The staff was friendly. There was plenty of parking which was great to see. I could not get the wireless Internet to work in my room. It worked fine in the common areas just not in the room.

Area recommendations

There is plenty to do and see in St. Augustine. The beaches were nice. The fort was a great piece of history which my kids really enjoyed. There are several shops downtown with antiques and touristy nick knacks. We visited the light house. We did not take the train tours. We felt that they were a little pricy for 4 of us. Since we drove any way, we did our own sight seeing at our own pace. There were lots of places to eat. Harry's had very good food. The service wasn't the best. We did go late. The Mexican restaurant across the street from the hotel was very good. We hope to go back to St. Augustine when we have a bit more time and the weather is cooler.
