“ocean sands st aug”
very convenient to the historic downtown area of st aug. easy access to any desired shopping, and the beach is just across the street. the inn was very well maintained, both in and out, and the pool looked to be in very good condition.
“You're TWO lanes away from sand at your feet... Impressive.”
Maybe it's not impressive to most people but for someone who hasnt seen the beach in quite some time... it's was VERY convienient. I ended up in FL for almost 2 days alone due to some misplanning on my friend's part (the bride). I figured if i was going to be in FL i should see the beach. I had diffrent reasons for wanting to visit St. Augustine (Primary reason was a song by Band of Horses). I rented a car and drove to the city and was AMAZED! i could not believe the beauty before me. I wasnt there long but the staff was friendly. I COULD not believe how close the beach was... walking distance... just 2 car lanes away. The rooms where clean. A little older but that's no reason to rule them out ;) Be prepared to get sand in places you shouldnt get sand... it was EVERYWHERE!! :D Great experience overall.
“Small, quiet motel.”
This is a small, privately run motel, located across from the beach. My room was fine, nothing to complain about, about what I expected. I had a "coastal" view of the property behind the motel, which was scenic enough. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was ok, the breakfast room is really small, if the motel was full of tourists, I think it would be far too small. I was here and there were only about 12 people in the motel, so the size of this room was fine. Attractions are about 5-10 minutes away by car.
“DISGUSTING!”
Totally gross. Awful smell of mold, so nasty I would not stay! Turned around and left! Front desk clerk was RUDE and the people hanging around the place were creepy
“words cannot describe”
The location and private beach were nice but if you book here I hope you can sleep with the lights on like we did to keep the roaches at bay. I woke up the first night and a glass of water I had on my night stand was full of bugs and the next night I woke up to one crawling in my ear! The rest of our stay we kept the light on at night and the bugs never came out again. The room service wasn't great either. We checked in on a saturday and we didn't get new towels or have our room cleaned until tuesday. And if you are planning on printing boarding passes at the hotel they charge $2 a sheet of paper to do so. We just printed ours at the airport for free instead. The free breakfast was ok but nothing great.
“Good location”
Good location right across a not too busy street from the beach, and historic St. Augustine was not very far. Brunch was not great, and the brunch room was very tiny. Midway into the brunch time, there was no orange juice or milk to be found, and the staff said they had run out. But for the price, we would stay here again, and just go out for a nice breakfast instead.
“Go some where else!”
Such an out dated place. Me and my wife felt dirty the whole tine we were there. Everything was in poor condition. It looked like there was an attempt to spruce things up, but the old and outdated overpowered it. The breakfast area is a joke. It is a old room "renovated". My idea of having to warm up my own eggs and sausage is not a continental breakfast. The broken toasters didn't help for the bagels. You almost had to make reservations just to get one of the 8 seats. Yes I was expecting higher quality, what I am use to, but this place was from the early 80's!
“Will not go ther again.”
The pictures on expedia are beautifill, in reality the hotel is stuck in the 60's with little maintenance and zero updating. If you like plastic flowers, odd color decor, and you don't mind to hear your next room neighbors fighting or talking then the hotel is fine.
“Great for the price!”
This is a motel-like hotel across from the beach (not on it). Room was clean, comfortable, staff was friendly and service was good. The breakfast is coffee, juice from concentrate and pastries. The neighborhood is safe and very nice, but far away from everything. My husband and I had our car so this was not a problem for us; the one night we wanted to drink with our dinner we took a taxi ($12 + tip). Great place to 'hang-your-hat' while visiting, specially for the price. Do not expect a romantic experince, although a walk on the beach at night during the recent eclipse was fantastic.
“Inexpensive, clean and convenient.”
Older but well kept up building. Across from beach and has a pool. breakfast and tea and coffee available during day. Walls fairly thin and the neighboring room was noisy late.
