“Location right on the river”

The hotel furnishings in lobbies and pool area were very deluxe. The location, in addition to being right on the river (Mississippi), was also connected to the Civic Center, where conventions are held. Food in the Green Mill Restaurant which was also attached, were excellent. No breakfast furnished.

Area recommendations

The city did not have much of interest to tourists with the exception of extensive shopping opportunities - all the major stores. There are many restaurants also - lots of familiar names both high and low end.

Getting around

Highways 23 and 15, the major arteries, are quite crowded so it would be helpful to have a good map to be able to choose alternate routes to get around the city.

“Don't stay in this room, but the hotel is good...”

We were put in a "stair access only" room which felt like a basement. The bedding was damp due to the humidity and it smelled very musty. The wall a/c only made us cold and damp. The door didn't even lock! I have been at this hotel many times so I know it isn't a bad place, we just got a bad room.

“Near Campus”

Location was very good; near campus and downtown night spots. When we turned down our bed there was a spider in it that freaked us out. This could happen anywhere but it did taint our stay there. The room was very small and outdated TVs detracted from the very good staff.

“Will stay there again on the next trip!”

Upon arrival, our room had been upgraded from a standard room with two double beds to a deluxe queen room at no extra charge. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. They gave us great walking and driving directions to the places we needed to go. The hotel maid staff could work on making sure that there are light bulbs in the lamps each day. They also left us without kleenex after the first night of our stay. This was easily fixed, but the oversights didn't go unnoticed.

“Nice place, great location”

I stayed at this hotel because of a beer fest in the attached convention center. Everything worked out perfectly. The location is great... located close to everything in St. Cloud's downtown area with plenty of food and entertainment options. The attached Green Mill is especially good. Our room was slightly smaller than I'd expected, but that's my only minor complaint. Other than that, the room was immaculate, modern and up-to-date. Service was great too. We had some noisy people in the hallway, and one quick call to the front desk sent a security guard up in moments to quiet down our neighbors. ] Overall very good.

“Great location”

The room was great with a fantastic view of the river. Local delivery is very close and extremely quick. All entertainment options are within walking distance. Only issue was how to get into the hotel from the lower parking lot, there must be an elevator somewhere but it isn't well marked.

“Needs a little renovation”

My "non-smoking" room had a musty/smoky smell, and had a few other minor problems (insect in the bathroom in Feb., desk chair can't push back enough to sit in the chair because it hits the bed, etc.).
