“Arawak”
Beautiful ocean view from the balcony and great breakfast included. Very small pool did not look clean. Need a rental car.
“Arawak Bay Hotel”
We recently stayed in the Arawak Bay Hotel, October 2011, and had an outstanding stay. The room was big, the hotel was in great condition and the owners were wonderful. Each morning the owners would make us breakfast which included fresh fruit, coffee/tea, and eggs/waffles or some other main breakfast item. The hotel pool was small but comfortable and there was a fully stocked bar available on an honor system 24 hours per day. This was a nice convenience because there are not a lot of convenience or grocery stores on the island. The room was tastefully decorated and the air conditioning worked great. Also, no sign of mosquitos, as this can be a problem on the island if you don't stay in the right type of place. You need a car to get anywhere from this hotel, so if you are going to stay here you should rent your own car.
“Inexpensive B&B on beautiful island”
Pros: Friendly staff (Inn owner/architect was very hospitable and accomodating. Helped me locate inexpensive car rental company vs. using airport vendors). I was able to do my laundry before checking out (off season and very few other guests during my stay) delicious homemade breakfast everyday! Free wifi, AC/cable, free calls to US mainland under 15 minutes, lots of activities (driving recommended vs. walking) - snorkeling, diving, kayaking, horseback riding, golf, tennis, jet-ski, hiking, live music, ferry to Buck Island. Balcony is ocean view: the sunrise/sun sets are gorgeous. Security cameras on site - separate keys to balcony/hotel door. Great weather. I will definitely return to the island and even this hotel vs. the more pricey resorts. I didnt feel like a guest, treated like family. Great service - eccletic/charming decor - very relaxing stay. Cons: safe in my room was broke, but never once had issue with personal items missing from room or luggage. Previous guest left a cup of spilled beer in the fridge and it wasnt cleaned out for 3 days. Small pool - needed to be cleaned/strained of the insects. Upside: never needed to swim in it because I was always at the beach. VERY weak cell phone signal in room/dining hall. Keep phone off or you'll get roaming charges. Stronger signal on the island/beach in general (Sprint and other cell phone carriers have towers). You will need a rental to explore island - cheaper than taxi or bus service - unless staying on resort.
“Great place to stay you will love it”
My 22 year old son and I stayed at the Arawak for five nights and it worked very well for us, not fancy or a 5 star hotel but a great place for a low cost room, with a wonderful ocean view in a location convenient to most parts of the Island where you can regroup each day. The rooms are clean, they have cable and the beds are comforatable. Lionel and Jennifer the friendly couple who run the hotel operate it more like a bed and breakfast. Lionel seems to enjoy cooking and mostly will make you a made to order breakfast that is very tasty. The hotel is located on the North Shore road about halfway between downtown Christiansted and Cane Beach. It has a small pool with an honor system pay as you go bar. When I go back again I will stay here again.
“Clean, friendly, and a great value for the money!”
This is an awesome place to stay if you like to stay in a place where you are not just a number. We were impressed with the cleanliness and the comfort of our room. Each morning we were treated to a top-notch hot breakfast by Lionel and Jennifer(the owners). Any questions or problems that we encountered were solved almost immediately. Jennifer and Lionel are very friendly and professional and have created a home away from home for their guests. We are planning to go back and look forward to seeing Jennifer and Lionel again, and to sleeping in the most comfortable beds ever. I was almost convinced that the bed was more comfy than the one at home. Tiny personal touches abound here which make all the difference. If you are looking for a big resort with a massive pool this place is not for you. If you want to stay in a place where they know your name and pay attention to your needs, this is the place to go.
“Beautiful View”
The Arawak was a pleasant and comfortable stay. Lionel and Jennifer are the best hosts with whom I've interacted. The breakfasts were great and the view was amazing. The location is a bit off the beaten path, so I recommend renting a car. If you plan on diving, however, the anchor dive shop is a very short walk.
“St. Croix Perfect Getaway”
If your looking for a quiet seclued romantic place to stay this is the place to go. It is has a beautiful view of the ocean. it's quiet and peaceful at nights. Very comfortable. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for The Perfect Getaway. tightwork
“Wonderful, relaxing, friendly”
Wonderfully friendly and helpful hotel manager/owner. Room very comfortable, spacious, clean with all described amenities. Use of the kitchen was great! Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Lovely view. A bit hard to get around without a rental car but well worth it.
“Paradise Hideaway”
We highly recommend this hotel whether for leisure or business. The owners and staff made our trip pleasant, very enjoyable and affordable. I had many questions before and after we arrived. Jennifer and Lionel provided expert knowledge, information and advice. Lionel is an excellent chef and offers a large selection of breakfasts. If you like to hike - definitely talk to Lionel. Our room was very spacious, modern, clean with comfortable beds including a massage recliner. The hotel landscape is very beautiful with gorgeous mountain and ocean views. The pool area is inviting with a bar and even a barbecue if your interested. Lionel, Jennifer and staff are accommodating and extremely friendly. Going back would be like going home.
“Perfect Getaway”
Hotel was great and was close to attractions on the North Shore. Renting a car is a must to get around the island. We would suggest a snorkeling trip with big beard boat tours, twighlight kayak trip, hiking to the tidal pools, and exploring the islands top 10 beaches.
