Awesome location, ferry ride to hotel island

Posted Jan 26, 2015
Pros: location
Cons: ummmm, everything
Location: did not have time
staff not particularly warm or helpful. Rooms very dated, doors don't lock well ... beds in serious need of replacement and upgrade. Bathroom fine, actually nicer than the room. TV barely worked. BBQ on the beach for $31 was a ripoff. Hotel did arrange for taxi for me for an early AM pickup and ferry was on time.

Great location - hotel needs updating.

Posted Jan 26, 2015
Location: St Croix Water Sports is located on the Cay. They had the best rates for snorkel equipement and anything else you might need to play on the beach.
The location is wonderful. The snorkeling was the best on the entire island. St Croix Water Sports, located next to the hotel has the best rates and service if you need to rent snorkel equipment or paddle boards etc. The hotel itself needs some updating but it was comfortable. The Resturant 'HaborMaster' was over priced and the staff was rude and unfriendly.

Beatiful small private beach, very friendly hosts.

Pros: The location and hosts.
Cons: cosmetic appearance details.
Location: All the amenities of christiansted.
At first i thought the ferry to shore wuold be a hassles but the skipper soon let us know it was not and we never waited more than 5 minutes for a ferry. Hotel rooms were big and very clean, looks old but it is very well kept.

NICE

Posted Jan 15, 2015
Pros: Beach
Cons: Ramps in place of stairs. The grounds and fountain need cleaned up and regular maintenance.
Location: Short ferry ride to restaurants and shopping but they close way too early and several not even open if no cruise ship in Fredericksted that day.
Nice beach, good food at restaurant. Not for everyone though, no elevators and lots of stairs you have to lug your heavy luggage up yourself.

Beautiful setting for a vacation in St. Croix

Posted Jan 5, 2015
Location: 3 years ago the refinery shut down, 3,000 people lost their jobs, businesses are still closed, just the tourist area along the water is happening.
First day in the room walking barefoot, bottoms of my feet were black, floor had not been mopped for some time. Room partially cleaned each day of my 6 days, requested a wake up call at 6am the next morning to fly out, the person at the desk wrote the wake up down, no call the next morning, went down to check out and complain about the wake up, office door was locked, no one there. I suppose this is typical for island life. All else was ok, they just need to tweak their staff

Private Beach, But Hotel Needs Help

Posted Jan 3, 2015
Hotel on the Cay has a great location, perched right out in Christiansted Harbor. Our room overlooked Gallows Bay and the Caribbean so that was very nice. And having the only true beach in the downtown Christiansted area was also a plus. But that's where the positives end, unfortunately. Our room was overrun with ants when we walked in. We cleaned them up and put down baby powder, which kept them at bay...until housekeeping cleaned it up the next day. That was a battle we never won (the ants or getting housekeeping to leave the powder alone). Hot water was hit or miss and one afternoon there was no water pressure, period. It took maintenance a while to rectify that. The staff can be nice, especially Mary in the boat house, but we had issues with the office staff on more than one occasion. We also made plans for an early ferry ride one morning and had to call the office to wake up the captain when he didn't show. The only food option is the Harbormastor, which is right on the beach and isn't part of HOTC. That means no billing $10 drinks to your room, but waiting forever for them. Just little things that snowball. The location is beautiful, but facilities themselves need quite an overhaul. And an extermination.

Wonderful Find

Posted Oct 14, 2014
Pros: The beach, and the view
Cons: Could be modernized a bit.
Location: Short very boat to restaurants, bars and shops. You can book tours also.
This hotel is a short ferry ride. The view is amazing and the beach is beautiful. There is a bar on the beach that is open till about 6:00 or so. The beach restaurant offers breakfast and lunch till 4 pm. If you want a laid back relaxing hotel, this is it. Don't expect modern furniture or bedspreads and draperies. But if you want a wonderful hotel at a decent price this is it. There is also a hut to rent jet skis, kayaks, etc. On the dock there is a small shop for snacks, cold drink and souvenir.
