“Far and Away...”

Far and Away...is a very good thing here!! Neatly tucked away on the west end of the north shore, far from everyone. This was exactly what we needed! The entire staff at this resort was excellent. Never in your way but always there to handle what ever you need. The Moko Jumbies are awesome, Friday nights the bar gets busy due to other resorts allowing their guests watch this special show, have a wonderful seafood buffet at a mild price and view another resort. GPS "if" you plan on viewing the island but free island maps are very easy to read. If you enjoy history, plenty to keep you better informed. Cruzan factory tour is worth every drop plus the many that came home. I would fly direct if available, very safe and clean airport in STX. The only rude people we met were the "cruise ship" gangs. They to are allowed to use the beach at this resort, for a fee, but they leave it a complete mess when its time to get back on ship. Reminded me of a high school lunchroom when the bell rings. Check out the local eats but there is fastfood if you must. We already have made plans for our daughters 18th here and the diving/snorkle is great which is very kid friendly with 1/2 day trips to Buck Island. Rent a jeep for getting around. We are excited to see how a change in ownership will fare. We'll be back for sure. O.J. was terrible, stick to pineapple.

“A True Island Wedding”

Carambola Beach resort was truly beautiful. The staff was very accomodating. We were married on the beach by Capt. Gordon Cameron, of Bigbeards, who did a fabulous job. We could not have had a better time.

“Heaven on St. Croix”

I've been coming here for years. It is heaven. It is quiet, the rooms are great, the ocean is right there, no tours or roads going by, just the sounds of the ocean. No tall hotels, but instead small bungalows. Each room has a porch where you can sit and read or sleep, you can dive right off the beach, and the food is great. It is a bit isolate from the rest of the island and taxis are expensive (as are car rentals) but just go there and stay and forget the world.

“So excited for another visit!”

Once Expedia faxed our itinerary to the resort, the Carambola quickly got us in their system. However, we had requested, through Expedia, an upstairs room because of the cathedral-like ceilings, but the Carambola was not going to honor that if I had not brought it to their attention. The second floor rooms are cheaper and, in our opinion, nicer because of the ceilings. We were very impressed with the close proximity to the beach and the friendliness of the staff. The food and beverages were equally amazing! Even with on-going construction at the resort, we were amazed at how peaceful and clean everything was. It's definitely worth the 20 minute or so drive into town. We also loved the fact that we didn't have cell service at the resort--made us enjoy our trip that much more. I would definitely recommend booking the Carambola and booking through Expedia. We can't wait to go back for another visit!!

“Very nice”

Carambola Resort is great for people who like to snorkle, dive or just enjoy the beach and are not interested in a night life. This was perfect for us. We saw turtles, lobsters, stingrays and moray eels right off the beach. The snorlking at Cane Bay was also excellent. A trip to Buck Island is a must do. The service is a little slow but very friendly as it was through out the island. This resort is pretty remote so a car is a must. The rooms are being renovated and ours was great. The only issue is there is only a king size bed and pull out couch which was not very comfortable for our two teenagers. One of the best things for me was there was no cell service at the hotel which meant I didn't have to worry about work and the kids didn't spend there day texting - however I was told that is getting ready to change. The pool and grounds are beautiful.

“Wonderful stay on St. Croix”

This resort is in a nice secluded area, not crammed in with the other resorts, casino, and such. That being said, you'll definitely want a rental car to get around and see the island. They are in the process of renovating since Renaissance just took it over so about half of the buildings were complete when we were there. The room was clean, comfortable, and a joy to stay in. The beach is technically public but there were only resort guests there (we were there in the off season) though we were told that other people come for the Friday night party. The food was good though not vegetarian friendly according to the menu. The chef would fix something vegetarian for us but you didn't know what you were going to get. I would definitely recommend going to the grocery if you get the room with a fridge even though the prices are much higher than in the US.

“Looking forward to a return visit.”

The Carambola Resort was certainly the finest the Island of Saint Croix has to offer. My wife and I spoke to other vacationers and visited other resorts and felt we had mad an excellent choice in accomodations. The resort is also on a more remote part of the island and felt more secluded than being in the township area. The only complaint that I would have of the Hotel is the very slow service at the resturant. The employees are amazingly friendly and accomodating but eating other than breakfast is a two hour commitment. The grounds were beautiful, the beachs at the resort were beautiful, the rooms are very cozy and comfortable and basically up to date. The Carambola certainly gave my wife and I the impression that they were glad we came and sorry to see us leave. Should my wife and I return to visit St Croix than we would with out a doubt stay at The Carambola Beach Resort.

“Come with an open mind, leave happy”

Great things to expect: - A beautiful private beach with awesome sunset views that is equally awesome for swimmers and divers/snorkelers - Well-appointed, airy common areas - Dense, gorgeous tropical landscaping - Utter lack of crowds (at least for us, in late May) - Incredibly casual atmosphere - Lack of mobile phone service (though there is wifi in the common areas if you must stay connected) - Super friendly dive shop - Rum Go elsewhere if you have problems with: - Heat and humidity, and what it does to buildings over time - An errant lizard or similar tropical fauna in your room - The fact that it is not, nor will it ever be, a spic-and-span glittery resort We had a great time, and while we would definitely go back, we are looking forward to exploring other Caribbean islands too!

“Heaven On Earth”

The name of the review says it all. It was truly a heaven. I was hesitant about St. Croix and Carambola before this vacation, but I am extremely glad I went ahead with it. If you are looking for peace and ultimate relaxation, away from the metropolitan life of the big cities, go for Carambola. There are many beautiful places in the world that I have been to like maldives and French polynesia, but I was surprised and thrilled to see something like this while still being in the USA. Regarding the resort itself, upgrade to superior room was totally worth it. U get better amenities, better location, a full kitchen, granite countertops, flat screen tvs and all the other good stuff. Rental car is a must to explore the island, or else u'll be confined to the resort. You dont want to miss driving alongside lush green mountains right next to the ocean. Take your GPS along with usvi maps downloaded. It will be a blessing. The seaplane ride to St Thomas, the scuba diving, the snorkeling, the yummy breakfasts on the ocean, the delicious dinners, theres just so much to tell and honestly words cannot do justice. Our carambola room was right in the foothills of the mountain, few feet from the carribbean sea, right under coconut trees. A piece of Paradise. Imagine !!
