Sugar Beach in St. CroixPosted Apr 14, 2012 on Hotels.com
Grounds are well maintained. The condo unit itself needed some upkeep, but for the most part was in good condition. We were upgraded, but the unit's AC was not functioning, so a repair man was sent the boring after check in and he fixed it for half of the house. The other half stayed out of order due to a missing part which would not be available for 6 days. The staff were friendly except for the housekeeper. She always looked annoyed and had unpleasant faces to give. She complained when I asked her if she could come back at 11 since the kids were sleeping. She said the apartment was very big, it's too hot, etc. I ended up telling her we didn't need anything and were good on our own. Water was turned off one day - sign posted said from 10:00am to 11:45, but at 2:00pm, still no water... I called the front desk and was told they would check and call me right back, no one ever did. We enjoyed the vacation and would definitely recommend this resort to friends and family, but if you're not ready to pay the expensive taxis you better rent a car. We walked to the supermarket, but it's very hot and the walk is a good 15 to 20 minutes (all under the sun)

Sugar Beach CondoPosted Mar 27, 2012 on Hotels.com
We stayed in a 2 bedroom condo. It is a little older but everything was clean and in working order. For a family of four it had very good value.

great room, beach not like CokiPosted Mar 27, 2012
Pros: The room decor and the spiral staircase and the upstairs bedroom
Cons: The beach was not a favorable beach to wade far into the water
Location: The hotel had one restaurant nearby, but otherwise it was a good walk to a grocery store or other services.
I really liked the room. It had lots of cable TV offerings and a nice spiral staircase to an upstairs bedroom. It had a kitchenette, and I wish I knew how to cook a plantain! The icemaker was handy to put in glasses of water, for even in January it is warm and muggy. The beach was pebbly and had grasses where I saw an eel attack a fish, so I did not go more than about ankle deep in the water. It was not a Coki Beach style beach there (Coki Beach is a popular beach in St. Thomas). But it was relaxing to watch the floatplanes and the ships come in to Christiansted. I walked to downtown Christiansted and back, and it was about a mile or more.

Sugar BeachPosted Mar 22, 2012
Pros: Rooms were great. Access to the beach was wonderful.
Location: Again the lack of morning dining facilities were a bit of a problem. and without a car, it added $20 to $25 per day in cab rides.;
Our condo suite was nice, clean and well taken care of. The grounds, beach and pool were fine. Only drawbacks were the lack of anyplace to catch breakfast so it was a $10 to 12 cab ride to town in the morning. Also there were kayaks at the condo but not for our use. Overall, we were happy with the hotel.

Sugar Beach visitPosted Jan 2, 2012
Pros: The Beach.
Cons: Older furnishings.
The resort has a beautiful beach. The condo we stayed in was very clean but the furnishings were dated. We had a plumbing problem and it was fixed quickly, which was a pleasant suprise.

The Best Place I've Stayed at on St. CroixPosted Dec 27, 2011 on Hotels.com
I have been traveling to St. Croix twice a year on business since 2006. I've stayed at every possible place on the island. I was very impressed by Sugar Beach. I loved the condo I stayed in. The location was perfect. The beach was beautiful. Everything I needed was at my fingertips. There was a beautiful pool (I didn't get a chance to use) and I loved the fact there is a laundry facility on-site. Another plus for me was that there was a community computer with internet access. The facility is also monitored at night by security guards which made me feel safe and secure considering I travel alone. The only real "problem" I had was a few ants in the kitchen area. The kitchen, however, was greatly equiped with everthing I needed from pots and pans and flatware to tupperware. I know where I'm staying next visit. Sugar Beach!

Nice viewsPosted Sep 14, 2011 on Hotels.com
Nice views and right on the beach. This was actually a condo complex and not a hotel. No shampoo provided and since hotels usually supply, I didn't bring any and had to buy some(expensive). The shower faucets were not working properly, and the toilet kept running after flushing. Very nice swimming pool open 24 hours.

Exactly what we wantedPosted Jul 24, 2011
Beautiful location. Had a 3rd floor room viewing the ocean. The sliding doors didn't slilde right, the hot water cylinder tripped the circuit breaker a few times before settling down. Nothing a handy-man type could not deal with.

Run Down, Moldy/Musty Smell, Roaches, Non-functioning WiFiPosted Jul 7, 2011
Came here over July 4th weekend for a quick dive getaway. Quite a disappointment. Pictures can be deceiving. Yes, the place is right on the beach--but it's also across the street from a housing project. The place itself is a bit rough around the edges. Little things and big were overlooked. LIttle annoying things like no working batteries in the remote control and no working wifi are a nuisance. Big things like roaches are a big thing. Opened one of the kitchen draweres on the first night to find a roach. Great! Washed every dish in the house. The AC filter was FILTHY and obviously had not been changed in the past few years, which meant we did without A/C for most of the stay. Bathroom in dire need of an upgrade.
