Not a buffet breakfast, not a 'hotel', but a motel

Pros: not much
Cons: don't call it a breakfast buffet. its not true. a crock pot of gravy and some doughnuts do not make a 'full breakfast buffet
Location: right on the highway , which can be good or bad
no eggs or meat (or protein of almost any kind) on the breakfast 'buffet". was a crock pot of luke warm gravy and cold biscuits. this is a motel, not a hotel. all rooms entered from the parking lot. indoor pool, but you have to walk along the parking lot in and out of it. the door to our room didn't work well at all, the lady said they'd tried to fix it but couldn't, though she still assigned us the room. it was a Monday night, lots of open rooms, but we got the 'you have to do the door just right' spiel. go figure. room 126, btw. also, staff pretty much disinterested. seemed to think eggs for breakfast was something only people from mars do. overpriced and overmarketed.

Friendly place right off the highway

Pros: Wine tasting on week nights was fun!
Cons: We had a truck parked outside our room that ran all night. I was white noise after we got used to it.
Location: Very convenient to St. James Winery (hint: buy your wine in the hotel lobby for the best buy unless you're buying in big bulk).
This is a pretty standard stay on a major highway. The bed was comfy and they had a hot breakfast.

Our room smelled of stale cigarette smoke and you can hear people coming and going throughout the night. Beds were comfortable and things fairly clean.

Acceptable hotel but a bit isolated

I have no real complaints about the hotel itself. The room as well as the hotel itself were in good condition. There were some issues with my booking but the staff promptly corrected them. I did not get the chance to try the breakfast. The one complaint I have is that there is very little in the area surrounding the hotel. If you're stopping for the night and want to eat something better than McDonalds, you have to drive an extra 10 minutes west.

I thank you for your comments. We are a small town but we have several alternatives to McDonalds, most within walking distance of the hotel. We have 4 locally owned restaurants that have a fine menu. The next time you are in the area let us show you the establishments so you can have a more enjoyable stay. Again, thank you for your comments.

The small town of St James is a little isolated from much of the activity of a city, however I would have loved to point you to some of our fine dining in the town. Within 1/2 mile we have a fine 5 star restaurant as well as four home owned establishments that provide some very fine dining as well. Perhaps in the future we can provide that information on your arrival and we hope you will try our hotel again.

Excellent experience

Pros: Staff was great
Cons: Pool was a little cold
Location: McDonalds right next door!
Receptionist at desk could not find our reservation, but was right on it and got us taken care of. Found out it was not hotels fault. Good breakfast, clean room, nice staff. Would stay again if in area.

Pros: We have stayed in the past because this is pet friendly and have a light breakfast.
This was a great stop over for a long drive to take our grandchildren home after spending the summer with us. The room was clean and comfortable.

I am so sorry you had this issue with your room. I have been pouring over our guest folios to find information concerning your problem. I have not found any folio from Chicago nor have I found any complaint logged with us concerning this issue. We do try to correct any problem you may have. We have never had an issue like this and if we had it brought to our attention I would have been glad to remedy it immediately. I do thank you for bringing it to our attention and I guarantee that is not the normal occurrence you should expect.
