Enjoyed the complex and its proximity to restaurants and businesses in Cruz Bay. Our stay was prolonged due to tropical storm Bertha (the ferry was not running). The staff went out of their way to make us comfortable.

Was concerned about staying here due to many previous bad reviews especially on trip advisor!
We were pleasantly surprized!! the grounds pool and hot tub are beautiful!! construction was ongoing at the resort but it did not bother us or take away from the beauty of the place!! we had a deluxe beachfront room which I highly recommend looking out at the boats in the bay was breathtaking every morning and one never got tired of it!! the beach is pretty but the water is not
Go to Maho or trunk bay for gorgeous water!!! we rated our vacation a ten and would not hesitate to go to the westin again!!

If you are a beach lover this is the place to go. In fact once on St. John's there isn't another beach outside of this place that warrants you leaving the grounds. They have 5 beaches, each one as beautiful as the next. Snorkeling, canoes, paddle boards, beach bar service (at some not all beaches) are available. Very romantic, for couples, you could bring the kids, but really more for couples. The rooms are kept clean. Wifi service is available but spotty with weak signals in rooms, better signal near the main hotel. ZoZo's is one of the best italian restaurant's we've ever visited. A beautiful converted sugar mill, within Caneel's grounds, with a grand view of the bay. Can't wait to visit again.

Of course this type of vacation is not for everybody, but for those that want something different, it is a great experience. If you are unsure about this type of lodging, do not try it. This is for the person that knows they want to create a unique memory for their family, and goes with a positive attitude.

This was our second trip to st John and The Gallows. What can I say about it? Incredible!!! I love staying at the Gallows. Our view was over the ocean to st Thomas, in the daytime we had the breathtaking view of the water and the islands and at night it was the twinkling lights of st Thomas. We stayed in 5B which was a lower unit on the ocean side. The ocean was right outside our back door and snorkeling was steps away. The lower units are smaller than the spacious loft units upstairs, but the reduced cost was worth it. There were peacocks actually roaming around! The only negative thing about our trip was that in September so many restaurants and facilities are closed as that is the off season, but that makes it so much easier to meet the locals. Anna Thompson worked the front desk at the gallows and was so helpful, be sure to look her up if you have any questions.

From check in, to complimentary evening rum punch, complimentary continental breakfast, to use of the grill by the pool for a kabob dinner the inn is charming and well kept. When I need to go back to St John in the future, this will be my first lodging call.
