Convenient to the waterfront and restaurants

Pros: The room was comfortable as a bed and breakfast.
Cons: The breakfast.
Location: The location was good. A reasonable was to restaurants and shops at the waterfront.
Overall good experience. I needed a place to stay the night so I could get to the airport for a noon flight the next morning. The room had all I needed to get through the night. Internet connection was important and readily available.

Down town St John's.

Pros: The only thing that worked well was the Wi Fi.
Cons: More staff visibility and helpfulness. The staff should not hide from the visitors and be less surly when asked for help.
Location: The hotel is walking distance to restaurants, pubs, Signal Hill, The Rooms and other places of interest downtown. $25 cab ride from the airport.
The hotel didn't live up to the description posted on Expedia. It is not a 3 star accommodation. One star at best. The room was clean but had obviously seen better days. There was no way to ventilate the room as all the windows had been sealed shut. Although a no smoking room it was not smoke free and smelt of stale tobacco smoke. Only one coffee mug was supplied for a room booked for two. Clean towels daily but one was obviously stolen from Goodlife! The continental breakfast was not great, the cereals being stale and the serving spoons not washed each day. The same carton of milk appeared 4 days in a row. The biggest problem was the lack of visible staff/owners. We had two problems in our stay: a blocked toilet and no hot water for tea at breakfast. In both instances we had to phone for assistance. The contact person was exceedingly reluctant to assist us in both cases. Has this hotel changed owners as it bears little similarity to the description on Expedia and St John's travel guides? It looks like a hotel that has seen better times/owners but now is going down hill rapidly.

Loved the architecture and decor; excellent WiFi connection. Did not like the foam mattress or the shower. Enjoyed the breakfast room conversations.

The Abbott Inn is walking distance to downtown

Pros: The fact that we stayed up on the 3rd level with a street view. It was also a quaint and quiet property.
Cons: Because you have to walk up many flights of stairs, there should be an option for an elevator as the property is used for commercial purposes.
Location: Downtown location centered to do most site seeing.
If you want to truly experience being a neighbor in the heart of the city..this is it! This location fit our needs perfectly. We wanted to get the true experience of staying in a downtown residential neighborhood where we could walk to locations.

Location: All of St. John's and surrounding area.
It is difficult to find the B&B, partly as there are two addresses on two different streets. No one answers calls for assistance, so drove around quite a while before spotting the sign which isn't obvious. Took four tries to get the code to work correctly to get in, and anyone could have gotten into my room as they left the key with all needed information in the entry which is open to the public. Room is in a spectacular location. Toilet had leftovers of previous visitor. One teabag and one coffee cup for a two-day stay; these were not replenished for the second night. No housekeeping for the second night. Breakfast staff uncommunicative, and when asked a question, answered disrespectfully. He basically wanted to know which room I was in and then he disappeared. Bread was hard on top and soggy wet on bottom. You are allotted one small container of yogurt. There was fruit and cold cereal. though. In such a beautiful location, just changing a few things would make their place much desired.

bed was comfortable, had trouble getting into Inn, had to call for assistance twice, older dwelling could hear everything outside our room and upstairs. breakfast provided was ok. Trouble finding parking.

Nice room close to downtown

Pros: Location, quality furniture and linens
Cons: Staff member knocked on door at 10:45 pm to swipe credit card - to save hotel a surcharge. Unfortunately we had an early flight and sleep was ruined
Location: close to restaurants and shops downtown duckworth and water street
Very nice room, comfortable bed, quiet location, with downtown in view and close enough for walking
