Hotel close to downtown walkable to tourist spots

Posted Oct 24, 2014
Pros: that it doesn't allow smoking, proximity to downtown, breakfast that was included
Cons: People should know when they book there is no elevator. We found out by chance and we able to change our 3rd floor to the 2nd floor.
Location: Good location to downtown, Signal Hill and walking trails
Hotel room was small and cramped. Floors did not appear to have been cleaned properly. Bathroom not cleaned well, mirror smudged for 3 days. Bar fridge was set on the floor making it hard to use. Not enough hangers. Key card to the building had to be replaced several times. Building is not sound proof at all - we were woken up by people above us at 5 am - heard their alarm clock beeping, footsteps, drawers opening and closing, more noise coming down the stairs and past our room and then chatting outside while they waited for their rides. It would have been nice to have laundry facilities in the building. Staff was fairly friendly.

Great location, needs some attention

Posted Oct 12, 2014
Pros: Location, breakfast and staff.
Cons: see above
We stayed there on 1 Oct 14 and 9 Oct 14. Both times in different rooms and the mattresses were terrible. My wife lost most of two nights sleep. On the second night the blind was unusable, and stuck hard down. Breakfast was tasty and sufficient but did not see an attendant the whole 30 minutes.

Great homey feel!!

Posted Oct 8, 2014
This is my 3rd time at this hotel and I love it. The rooms aren't big but they are sufficient and it has a really nice homey feel to it. Love the deep soaker tubs and the staff are amazing and so helpful!

Notel

Posted Sep 18, 2014
Stayed at this place for two nights not my cup of tea. They didn't even give us the remote to operate the A/C,The excuse we got was that it had been cold But it was actually hot when we stayed. The Wi Fi was awfully slow no point in having it as a selling point to get people to stay there. It's about a 25 min walk to George St and all the action etc. St Johns is a great city but Hometel was not for us.

Convenient,,clean and courtesy-laden spot

Posted Aug 28, 2014
Cons: Ease of access to business and night life.
Location: As above.
At the base of Signal Hill, a spit away from the narrows reaching out to the North Atlantic, Galway next stop, this spot features convenience, cleanliness and courtesy.

Hotel is okay

Posted Aug 26, 2014 on Hotels.com
Hometel is a bit of a walk up and down hilly streets from the main area of downtown so if you don't have a car beware. We stayed for 4 nights and did not receive cleaning services or new towels once without having to go to the front desk and ask. Once we asked specifically for the room to made up and to have new towels and toilet paper left before the end of the day, we were reassured it would happen and it never did. I would probably not book this hotel again.

Modern and clean

Very clean room on top floor of condo-style row housing...excellent help-yourself breakfast, including hard-boiled eggs. Super handy to Signal Hill. Air conditioning quiet and efficient.

Nice place to stay for the money

Posted Jul 30, 2014
Pros: Continental breakfast excellent.. Even had boiled eggs..
Cons: Bed sagged in the middle. New beds would make it so much better.
Location: Good location. Near signal hill. 20 minute walk to downtown.
Excellent location.Need good walking shoes and it helps to be in shape to do the hills. We were on the 3rd floor so it was a challenge at the end of the day.
