Lovely setting and very quietPosted Apr 24, 2015
Cons: More air con in main room would be lovely
Location: Quiet but that was what we liked. Villas look across a saltwater lake with many wild birds.
The villas are lovely but did get very hot particularly at night. The owners Gabriel and Douglas are very helpful with ideas of where to visit.

Caribbean CottagesPosted Mar 21, 2015
Pros: Peace and quiet. Doug and Gabby are like old friends. Helpful and knowledgeable, they will take the time to explain everything you need to know.
Cons: The location is a bit isolated. That's the nature of the island, with it's many peninsulas and bays but that means hiring taxis or renting a car.
Location: Yepton Estates is on the Caribbean side of Antigua, close to two beaches and historic Fort Barrington. It's a 10 minute drive to St. John's.
For Canadians and Americans accustomed to renting a summer cottage by the lake, Yepton Estates will be very familiar and comforting. The owners (and hosts), Doug and Gabby, have created a cosy oasis away from the tourist crowds, where you can hang out on your cottage deck and watch the multitude of birds that make the adjacent lagoon home. You also get a front-row view of the massive cruise ships - Doug calls them "accomodation barges" - as they silently glide past on their way to St. John's harbour. As others have noted, the cottages are clean and comfortable with fully equipped kitchens. We ate all our breakfasts "at home", and brought home dinner several times. On arrival, Gabby will take you to the 'Epicurean' supermarket, where there is a full selection of British and American goods (including prepared meals), at prices that are 20-30 percent above what you pay at home. This is NOT a beach resort but Yepton Beach is only a three minute walk away, while the spectacular (and empty) Deep Bay Beach is a 10-minute walk. However, there is not much else to see in the immediate vicinity, so you will need to rent a car for a few days at least to check out some of the island's other beaches, historical sights, and fine restaurants. We liked Ffryes Beach because it attracts local Antiguan families for picnics. You might even be asked to join a game of "beach cricket"! And on the Atlantic side, Half Moon Bay is the epitome of a tropical ocean beach.

Excellent experience!Posted Mar 2, 2015
Pros: The friendliness of the owners; the simplicity of the cottage; the peacefulness felt while there.
Cons: Nothing, it was all perfect.
Location: Gabbie and Douglas informed us of the nearby beaches and places to dine and shop.
My husband and I were guests at Yepton Estate Cottages in February and LOVED our time in Antigua, mostly because of the kindness of Gabbie and Douglas. We got lost getting to the cottages on our first day, but once we found it they greeted us as if their own family had been lost. The hospitality they offered cannot be compared with that of any hotel or resort we have ever stayed. Their knowledge of the island and suggestions of great places to eat and visit allowed us to make the best use of our short time on the island. The accommodations were perfect and we had everything we needed. We highly recommend Yepton Estate Cottages to all visiting Antigua.

A perfect peaceful location with kind hosts.Posted Feb 22, 2015
Pros: The bird watching- pelicans, frigate birds, herons, finches, hummingbirds-fantastic!
Cons: Nothing comes to mind...
Location: Close to St John's. Antigua is so small that with a hire car, we easily saw everything we wanted to.
We had a lovely stay. The island's beaches are fabulous, the scenery wonderful and the Luerys did all they possibly could to make us welcome.

Pros: The beautiful setting and the excellent service from the hosts.
We stayed at Yepton Estate Cottages for part of our honeymoon and we loved it here. Our hosts were really helpful - they took us to the supermarket on the first day to stock up on food, showed us around St Johns, arranged a hire car and gave lots of advice for places to visit. The setting around the cottages and the lagoon is beautiful and teeming with wildlife. The cottages were comfortable and well-equipped. There are gas BBQ's outside on the veranda. The area is very quiet and relaxing. It is possible to eat in the local hotel restaurant if you don't want to cook and there are two good beaches in walking distance. A hire car is recommended for getting around however. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come here again.

Beautiful locationPosted Jan 25, 2015
Pros: Well appointed cottages in a beautiful setting
Location: Located about 3 miles from the capitol St. John's. The nearest beach is only a 5 minute walk away and everything is easy to reach if you hire a car.
We were greeted by Gabriela and Douglas when we arrived and made to feel at home straight away. After checking in Gabriela took us to the supermarket to get provisions and helped us to find what we wanted.Throughout our stay they both made sure we had everything we needed and more. The cottage was nicely furnished and well equipped with everything you need. It was cleaned and towels replenished every 3 or 4 days. The location is beautiful, set next to a salt water lagoon with Pelicans, Herons and other water birds. Other little birds come to the veranda to be fed each day and are very tame. The nearest beach is a 5 minute walk away. I cannot fault this lovely place and Gabriela and Douglas are fabulous hosts from start to finish.

A beautiful location overlooking a nature reservePosted Jun 14, 2014
Pros: It was a beautiful quiet retreat on Antigua and the accommodation was well planned with quiet air-con. The balcony was good for viewing bird life.
Cons: This accommodation does not need improvement and is well managed by Gabriela and Douglas. Beach towels and chairs are provided and kitchen is equipped
Location: It is close to a beach in a quiet location ten minutes drive from St Johns. A car is essential to enjoy the many beautiful beaches and to visit sites.
We wanted to avoid all inclusive hotel accommodation and the superior cottage at Yepton Estate was an excellent choice. We stayed for two weeks and were impressed with the assistance given by the owners Gabriela and Douglas. On arrival they offered us cool drinks and a bottle of wine and accompanied us on an informative shopping trip. They were helpful and enthusiastic hosts and Douglas gave us a detailed briefing on the sites and beaches that we could visit when our rental car was delivered. We took advantage of using the car hire company recommended and arranged for us by Gabriela. We also visited places to eat which they favoured. The free use of a mobile phone with contact numbers, if we had any problems, was a helpful gesture. Douglas has a special interest in the railways used in the former sugar cane industry and it was a privilege to view the restoration activity which he has been promoting. It will be interesting to read his planned book on this aspect of Antiguan history. On the history of the Island it was also good to see Nelsons Dockyard at English Harbour and the forts and defences established around the Island as part of the British defence of the Caribbean. We had an enjoyable experience and will retain happy memories of a very comfortable stay at Yepton Estate and a bonus of enjoying a wide range of bird life in the lagoon.

Awesome cottages for the independent travelers!!!Posted Jun 3, 2014
Pros: The best part for us was that it was secluded and quiet. We also felt very welcomed and at home since they provide everything you need at home!
Cons: We can't think of anything that needs to be changed.
Location: Beaches are all over the island! We recommend taking a trip to Nelson's Dockyard and English Harbor. Eat at Sheer Rocks, and go on a booze cruise!
We stayed in the cottages for one week. It was very comfortable and came with everything you need. They even included an umbrella in case of rain! The hosts took us to the grocery store our first night and also went over a map of the island with us when our rental car came. The location is close to town, but also secluded and away from the crowds of the big resorts. It is set off of a small lake and just a short walk to the beach. Gabby and Douglas were the best hosts we could have asked for. They were very knowledgable about the island and all of the best sites and experiences. They really took care to make sure we had nothing to worry about.

Wonderful place to stayPosted May 7, 2014
Pros: It is like a home away from home.
Location: There are some nice beaches very close by and Fort Barrington is around 15 minutes walk.
If you are seeking more from Antigua than an all-inclusive package resort then this is the place to stay. We have stayed in so many places around the world but never met hosts as enthusiastic and helpful as Gabriela and Douglas and nothing seems to be too much trouble for them. They will personally make sure that you get what you want out of the trip by advising and helping you with everything such as restaurants and when and where to go to get the best out of each attraction or site. When we first arrived Gabriela took as to the big supermarket in town and explained how to drive around St John's. Douglas then gave us really detailed and useful information on driving around the island. We were then provided with a mobile phone free of charge so that we can call them up if we have any questions or problems. Douglas is extremely knowledgeable about the fascinating history of the island and in particular is the expert on Antigua's former railway system. As a further bonus, Yepton Estate itself is a beautiful place to stay and we enjoyed just sitting on the porch watching various birds in the morning while eating breakfast and just generally relaxing.
