“Peaceful and Relaxing!”
I spent my honeymoon from 29 Mar 2010 to 1 Apr 2010. The location of the hotel is remote. Very relaxing and peaceful. Service was excellent. I have no complaints, would definately be back and I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is seeking a relaxing and quiet vacation. The food was good, but a short distance away, there is the RoundHouse Inn, food and service was excellent there. We did a tour as well to Harrison's Cave and to the Wildlife Reserve, please see as much of the island as possible, it's beautiful....
“can not wait to go back”
I love the country, I love the hotel, I love the people; good transportation; The best of food. My father and grandparents are from Barbados..........I love everything there. Should spend more time there. People at the hotel are the BEST..all of them in every shift. I am really greatfull.
“Wonderful Place in Barbados”
My girlfriend and I stayed here for a few nights in March and had an amazing time. Bathsheba is a quiet town, with beautiful, rugged beaches.Being that I am a surfer it was nice to be able to walk to soup bowl directly from the inn. If you are looking for an all-inclusive 5 star resort go to the west or south coast, the edgewater is not that. This place is very unique and has a cool rustic feel to it that I love.
“A great stay at the New Edgewater in Bathsheba Bar”
Location is superb and the views incredible.Very quiet and al fresco dining superb. Fish dishes excellent, The staff were cheerful and helpful. Erica was a gem. Our son and daughter contacted her and she organised a surprise bouquet of flowers, chocolates and champagne to be delivered to our room on Xmas day. How is that for service when our daughter is in London UK and our son in Toronto Canada?. The pool is excellent but the hotel does require updating, rooms were clean and food good. Excellent bus service
“Quiet, friendly Hotel with outstanding views”
I really enjoyed the New Edgewater, it was just what I was expecting. It is quiet and friendly and the staff are truly excellent; helpful and polite. The hotel is a little shabby and the public areas could do with a lick of paint, it's a bit drab at the moment. However it has got a lovely authentic feel with leaded windows and traditional furniture. My room was really lovely with a balcony over looking the sea and very spacious. The food was OK and reasonably priced. I think that for the price it was very good value and I would certainly go there again rather than to a resort type hotel on the other side of the Island.
“Great Value”
It was a great value for the price. You have to be willing to rent a car and drive to the calm beaches on the other side of the island and for more dining options. The hotel was very charming, and the staff was exceptional. The food was also very good. Wi-fi was also available, which was a plus.
“Wild Atlantic coast of Barbados”
Our hearts sank as the taxi brought us down the access track, past a busy and extensive building site for a new condo being carved out of the hillside next to the hotel. However, there was a warm welcome (and free rum punch) from the manager, Roger, and it turned out that the site was neither visible nor audible from our room. We had 224, with a balcony giving views both north and south along the Atlantic coast. We looked down on to the crashing surf, which drowned all other noise. This hotel is excellent if it is what you want. It is fairly simple, slightly drab, but in a superb location and provides a marvellous base for walking, along either the beaches or the disused railway, the bed of which still exists along much of the coast; even where it is eroded, there is a track around the fall. The Expedia booking indicates "breakfast not included", but in fact the hotel provides an adequate selection of cereals, croissants and coffee for free. We never took lunch, but the dinners were inexpensive and enjoyable, albeit from a limited menu. Like our room, the restaurant overlooked the ocean, and with a full moon and warm breeze was a very romantic spot. The swimming pool is oddly shaped, but just large enough for two people to swim decent lengths, if they have it to themselves. During most of our stay there were few other visitors, so we did. If you like the wild and the remote, then this hotel is excellent. As we did, stay one week here and then another elsewhere in luxury.
“A great relaxing getaway”
Great place to go and relax for a few days. Is very isolated so if you dont have a rental car will be restricted to an hourly bus and only eating at the hotel. Was perfect for me who only wanted a couple of days of relaxing walks on the beaches and lazing by the pool. If you want any nightlife or variety of food would probably not be the place you want to stay. Was really great value and did exceed my expectations. Was really impressed with the pool and the rooms were really nice. Being a small hotel was nice in that you get to know most of the other guests and share meals and a beer together.
“Away from it all”
Hotel is located on the Eastern side of the island away from the tourist areas on the West Coast. If you are looking for night life and action, this is not the place for you. It is ideal if you want to relax in a beautiful location for a few days. The scenery is spectacular and there is a nature reserve behind the hotel where we were able to hike. Pros: Quiet and relaxing. Cons: Secluded, need transportation (bus, taxi, rental car) to go anywhere.
“You are like family”
My first impression was, "My oh my, this place is really old!" And it could use a lot of updating and a paint job, especially the exterior. But the rooms are clean and all the items in the rooms are well maintained. The food is excellent, amoung the best on the island. And the Sunday Buffet is the absolute BEST food anywhere in Barbados, NOT TO BE MISSED. The atmosphere is perfect if you want quiet relaxation and a peaceful retreat. I will be visiting Erica, Kelli and the rest of the wonderful staff many times and would recommend the Edgewater above all the four and five star resorts on Barbados. Oh, and by the way, the view is unbievable.
