“Dismal hotel with really, really bad customer service”
I stayed here while on a business trip to St Kitts. I needed to be able to stay in my hotel room and get a lot of work done. The first room I stayed in one night and was tortured by this awful air conditioner that made a really horrendous noise. Despite numerous calls to the front desk, it was never fixed. Finally the next day they sent a maintenance man, who was actually rather kind, but he couldn't fix the machine and I sat in a hot room with no AC for over an hour waiting on him to come back. Eventually, I was given the room next door, which was equally dismal and dirty. I had finally had enough and confronted the manager, who reluctantly upgraded me to a decent room. I was treated so poorly throughout the whole experience that the upgrade was like salt in a wound. I will never stay here again.
“Walk to town!”
The Marriott its not but probably one of the best hotels in Bassaterre. Very convenient to town. The staff was great and overall the facility was nice and well maintained. The sorroundings were comfortable. The room was older but adequate.
“Good, but not a resort”
The Ocean Terrace Inn (or OTI, as the locals like to call it) is a good value for a short stay, specially to the business-oriented travellers. The hotel is the best option to those that have a need to be near Basseterre dowtown (just a 5-minutes cab trip - or better said, a USD 12.00 cab trip). It is not a resort, therefore does not offer much facilities other than its swimming pools and the pool bar. However, the pools are great! For dining, it is also recommended to go to the Fisherman's Wharf, where they have great local dishes and local drinks. Overall, it is a nice stay for those that are not focused on a resort kind of trip.
“Beautiful views, but in need of some renovation”
The view from the balcony is wonderful; you can watch the cruise ships coming in and out.The suite was spacious but, although clean, gave the impression of needing a facelift. A lot of the cutlery and tableware was missing from the kitchen. The 3 swimming pools are great especially the small one by the bar surrounded by palm trees, tropical plants and waterfalls. The free Internet access in reception is very useful. The hotel is built on various levels (no lift) which could be a problem for anyone with walking difficulties. We enjoyed our stay as it was rather quiet.
“In the Heart of Basseterre”
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Ocean Terrace Inn. The hotel is located very conveniently near the capital city of Basseterre (about 10mins walk). Taxis are readily available from the hotel and from town. Upon check in we were escorted to our rooms and assisted with our bags. Every single room has a most fantatic view of the Caribbean sea. In fact from our room, we had direct view of the Carnival Cruise ship coming in and parking at the harbor (Port Zante). We enjoyed our swim in one its 3 pools. Absolutely great landscape, waterfalls. Lots of picture taking opportunities. The food is a bit expensive, so be prepared to spend. Tastes absolutely divine though, so you must try while you're there. The Fisherman's Wharf is located right next to the hotel on the water. Again, what a view and delightful food. "toast to the chef". As it's a bit older hotel, do not expect 5-star amenities. More like 3 or 4 stars.. Room was clean and spacy, medium fridge provided to store drinks and snacks. some rooms have suites if you care to spend the money. Cable channels provided, including the St. Kitts visitor channel. Staff was friendly is assisting us with what to do around the island. The hotel offers a shuttle that takes you to Frigate Bay to go to the Beach, as the hotel is located at the harbor (not a beach area for swimming). All in all our stay was quite comfortable and relaxing. Thank you OTI and staff.. We will always come back to stay when in St. Kitts. You're Ambassador to St. Kitts.
“St Kitts Ocean Terrace Inn”
Hotel was very nice with friendly, helpful staff. Hotel was a short walk to town, but town is only safe (according to the desk clerk) during the busy part of the day. The restaurant next door to the hotel, Serendipity, was fabulous. Worth the trip just for the experience of eating there 3 times. Concierge was unavailable while we were there, adding to the difficulty of finding what were the best trips and excursions for us. Front desk was helpful, but lacked the knowledge we were expecting.
“We love the OTI”
Location, friendliness and price put the Ocean Terrace Inn on the top of the list for places to stay on St Kitts. From the OTI you can easily walk downtown for all of your shopping/dining needs. While this hotel is not located on the beach it does have wonderful ocean views and a complimentary shuttle to/from the beach. We had great meals at Serendipity (next door), Waterfalls (on site) and Stonewalls (downtown). There was plenty of shopping located at the cruise ship dock. The fantasy pool at the hotel is the most relaxing place you can imagine. All in all a very nice week of vacation.
“Great Hotel!”
Probably one of the best hotels in the Caribbean!
“Great Stay”
Room was clean and comfortable. Pool was Great. We stayed during the "off season" so had the hotel nearly to ourselves with very few other guests. Would stay again without a second thought. Within easy walking distance of the port and all downtown shops.
“Location, location, location.”
This hotel is in an ideal location. It overlooks the port and the view is beautiful both at day and at night. If fit, you can walk into town within 10 minutes. The employees were very helpful and friendly. The food at the Restaurants was very good. Try the local dishes at the Buffet dinner on Friday nights. I have stayed at other hotels on St. Kitts but the location of this hotel is a plus. I will stay here at OTI when I return to this island.
