“i would definitely stay there again, if i go back.”

The hotel was really good, the location was perfect. The cottage like room we had was really satisfied to us. There are medical students, who live in the same area and hotel, but they were really good. The view from the hotel was amazing right by the shore. The service was exceptional. You will find everything you need right out side the hotel. There is an India resturant on the top floor of Sugar Bay reception desk. There was pizza place opening right next to the hotel. There is a cafe, duty free shops and gorcery store right next to the hotel. The only thing that was satisfied to us was the internet, which wasn't working in the hotel lobby. Everything else was perfect.

“Room with the students”

We really enjoyed our stay at the Sugar Bay Hotel. The rooms were large as was the balcony. The full kitchen was helpful and there was a store within steps of our door. For the most part, it was quiet and peaceful except for a couple of nights when the students decided to party. The hotel does rent rooms to many medical students and we felt like we were the only actual guests there. The grounds of the hotel were beautiful and there was a nice long beach for walking. The surf was too rough for swimming but there were huts and chairs for siitng and relaxing. Most days we were the only people on the beach. This hotel has a great location near several good restaurants and across the street from the golf course. We played golf tiwice (they will send a cart to pick you up!). The course was in good shape and had some amazing views. We can't wait to come back!

“You get what you pay for”

The resort was not the greatest by any means. The place was dated and there were problems right from the beginning. We were supposed to have a king bed and got an old room with two double beds. There was no hot water when we got there. The maintenance man came up to try and fix it numerous times throughout the first day and night, and just couldn't get it to work. Finally we went to the front desk and asked to get a new room. They were very friendly and accommodating with the request. They put us in a pool villa which was much nicer, but still a little dated. The resort is on the Atlantic side of the island which is not the side you want to be on if you want to swim. It was just a short walk to the Caribbean side because you are on the thinnest part of the island. From what we found though, there really aren't a lot of resorts on the Caribbean side. The location was great for restaurants and bars, again just a short walk. There is a small grocery store that is part of the resort complex as well as a pizza place and a very good Indian restaurant.

“Decent place to stay on a budget”

Everyone who worked there was very helpful and pleasant. There are a lot of students living on site so depending on where your room is, the music can be pretty loud late at night. The beds are a bit hard but as far as getting your money's worth, this is a good deal. It is in the middle of a strip of hotels, condos, restaurants and bars, so you can walk everywhere easily.

“Skip Sugar Bay”

My family spent Christas week 2009 at Sugar Bay Club Suites and Hotel. The place was a ghost town, with only about 20% occupancy. Our 2 BR/2 BA cottage was spacious and clean; however, the roof leaked in both bedrooms. Electrical reliability and safety were problematic, with electric shocks whenever we touched the oven and electrical outlets that only operated sporatically. Bathrooms were not restocked during the week, forcing a trip to the indifferent front desk to request toilet paper. The pool waterfall featured in official photos did not operate during our stay. The surrounding area does not have sufficient dining capacity to serve the volune of hotel and condo guests.
