"Very nice hotel in a fake new town"
Although the newly developed neighborhood gives one the eerie impression of having been built for a theme park or movie set (note the fact that the town has been renamed from Grover to Wildwood), the hotel itself is wonderful. The floors are numbered European style (the 3rd floor is actually what Americans would call the 4th). Both the neighborhood and the hotel are quiet (which contributes to the movie-set feeling), and check-in was quick and easy. Our room was very nice and completely clean. The king-size bed had a very soft pillow-top, and the bedding was upscale: a woven cotton blanket sandwiched between two sheets, with a down-alternative duvet over the top, and four square (not rectangular) pillows that were equally comfortable. We had an in-room jacuzzi with a truly awesome design: the combination of mirrors and pillars made it look like a Roman rotunda from inside, and two sets of toiletries (and bathrobes) were provided. The development is located along Manchester Rd, part of historic route 66. If you drive toward downtown St. Louis as far as Maplewood, the road narrows and the buildings become older, with upscale shops (mostly newer chain stores until then, including a large mall). While it's about 30-45 min to downtown St. Louis by freeway, if you're going to be spending a lot of time downtown and you hate city freeway traffic, this probably isn't the best hotel location. But if you're looking to just kick back and relax in a nice hotel, this is the place.

"Great location near Forest Park!"
Classy hotel. Easy walk to Forest Park which includes the Art Museum, the Zoo, the History Museum tennis courts, and a golf course. Fabulous! Near funky restaurants. The Gamlin Whiskey House is a local eatery, fun to kick back and sip a tasty drink while watching the St Louis folks walk by. Coffee shops, famous chocolate store named Bissingers, LuluLemon - just a great area. The hotel itself is gracious with a very helpful staff. Places within to watch sports, chat quietly or watch a movie at their cinema. We love staying here.
