We stay here every year

Posted Jan 25, 2015
Pros: The hotel is a grand, older building. I like the architecture. There is a small movie theater in the hotel.
Location: This is in a very nice area with coffee shops, restaurants, and retail nearby.
We stay here every year for the wine tasting held here in January. We have always had a good experience. This time we had a corner room which was especially nice and roomy.

Lots of noise on my floor all night long in the hallway. Walls are paper thin.

Beautiful classic restored hotel, fine value.

Posted Jan 19, 2015
Booked on line, was upgraded to a beautiful palatial suite for 2 nights while doing medical tests at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. Fine elegant restored hotel, great respite. There's a movie theater in the hotel with several films, saw Into the Woods in comfort. Not was all perfect. The Bistro restaurant had a duck breast medallion dinner to die for, but the salmon dinner tasted like salmon trout with an unfortunate lemony sauce, avoid. Buffet breakfast first morning was okay although unimaginative; 2nd morning I tried the omelette but it was also dull. All service efficient but a bit uneven: mostly great, friendly, kind, second dinner waiter maybe nicest of my life, but second breakfast waiter was a frosty terse stone wall, don't know how I offended him, disturbing. Wifi is $9/24 hours in room or business center, didn't work in the room, after 45 useless minutes on the phone with techies had to dress and go to the lobby where it works (and is free) , bothersome. Parking is expensive too.w But I would definitely recommend this beautiful hotel especially with online discounts.

Nice place to spend NYE

Posted Jan 7, 2015
Pros: Grandeur
Cons: Wheelchair accessibility.
Location: Plenty but we chose to use what the Chase had to offer which was more than enough for us.
Enjoyed the experience at the Chase for NYE. Everything was really exciting. Being in a wheelchair limited some activities for me but we utilized room service and had a delightful evening. The Chase is difficult for a wheelchair but with effort we did manage.

Very Posh Experience

Posted Jan 2, 2015
Pros: Location, quality of room, demeanor of staff
Cons: A very minor thing, but there were no bathrobes in our room.
Location: All in walking distance: a variety of restaurants, clothing boutiques, bookstores, and beautiful old homes for those interested in architecture walks.
If you've never heard of this place, it's one of the fancier and more storied hotels in Saint Louis. I had the good fortune of getting a free upgrade (I think it was truly just because I was nice to the desk clerk--something to think about) and so stayed in a small suite that was quite luxurious and spacious. I highly recommend the hotel due to its quality, location, and relatively decent rates for what you get. Oh, and there's also a very nice movie theater and gym in the lobby.

Beautiful hotel!

Bed wasn't that comfortable for the niceness of the hotel. Bathroom needs separate shower and bigger tub. Overall very nice hotel

Good experience but had a couple of gllitches

Posted Dec 28, 2014
Pros: Location. Near great restaurants and coffee shops. A (brisk) walk away from the art museum and zoo in Forest Park which is spectacular.
Cons: Seems like it could use a little updating.
The suite was spacious and lovely, but we experienced a couple of difficulties. First was getting internet in the room. The second challenge was the smell of smoke which apparently came through the vents from an unidentified guest room. In each instance the staff response was immediate. The tech guy was able to restore the internet and a staff member came and offered to switch our room because of the smoke, a situation over which they really had no control. Disappointing snafus but great service overall. I'd return gladly!
