“Housekeeping lets this hotel down”

This is a lovely, comfortable hotel with some of the nicest, friendliest and most helpful staff I've come across. However, the housekeeping needs some serious attention. My toilet smelled like cigarette smoke the whole four days. On the first morning, the cleaner was standing outside my door when I walked out and she said "do you need anything for your room?" and I said, no, not specifically but you can clean it now. I had the feeling she wasn't planning to clean it. The next day I was gone from early to late and housekeeping didn't even touch the room. I had no fresh towels or coffee and no one had taken out the rubbish. I complained the next day and they cleaned it, but the toilet still smelled of cigarette smoke and it was not a very good job generally. This is the third time at a Marriott hotel (the cheaper brands like Courtyard) that I've had similar experiences. I have the feeling they try to save money on housekeeping by simply not doing it.

“Comfortable stay”

We just spent one night there but the staff was nice and helpful. The only possible complaint I would have is two cleaning people were standing next to the rear entrance smoking cigarettes when we were coming in. That wasn't pleasant but the hotel is nice and well kept.

“Great, friendly service.”

“More than met our needs”

Was in town for a day looking for a place near the airport where our daughter could swim. The place was very nice and convienently located. The breakfast was very good. the rooms were clean. despite having a contigent of high school kids in the hotel, it was reasonably quiet in our room. I would stay here again.

“MO Weekend Warriors who will choose a different hotel next time.”

Although everyone was friendly and the hotel was clean I was disappointed in the amenities. No fridge or microwave, TV stations were limited and poor, small children were allowed in the hottub and made the pool less than attractive. Breakfast was overpriced for what was available. For the cost of this weekend's stay, we could have done much better for the money we spent on accomodations

“Nice exercise room and pool.”

I expected the Couryard to be clean and comfortable, and it was. It has a nice little exercise room and a pool with a spa. Towels were well stocked. Our room had a king-sized bed with a pull-out sleeper sofa. It was a bit cozy for a family; but would have been quite roomy for 2. We got a great rate for the weekend; so it was worth the squeeze. Everything in both our room and the public areas.was clean and in like-new condition. They ran out of coffee both mornings; but the staff was quick to refill it when requested. My only complaint would be that the location requires a surprisingly long trip around a winding access road. But access to both interstates was easy, and it was almost impossible to make a wrong turn.

Dining

Pizza from Cecil Whittaker's is very unique compared to the big chains like Papa Johns, Pizza Hut, or Domino's. The crust is thin, and they use a cheese which is creamier than mozzarella. We really enjoyed it! Schnucks grocery stores in the area have good donuts.

“Family Fun in St. Louis”

We wanted to go to Six Flags and the Zoo. The hotel was a little out of the way (we had to drive about 30 minutes to each location), but was very convenient. The room was great, and the staff didn't blink an eye when we had 5 people (2 adults and 3 kids). Not many places on Expedia allow 5 people in a room. If you don't mind a little interstate driving to get anywhere, this hotel was a deal!

Area recommendations

For kids: You must do the City Museum. The Zoo is free, and if you get there early you can do some of the pay exhibits for free. Also try Mama Campisi's on the Hill for a nice dining experience. Split a few dishes, and get the toasted ravioli. See of your school does "Read to Succeed." If a child reads for six hours in February, they get a free Six Flags ticket. All of our children participated and got in free (saved $100!)
