“Disappointing Doubletree”
The best word to describe this hotel is "dowdy". It looks like they haven't remodeled in 20 years or more and the whole place looked the worse for wear. The public areas were acceptable but outdated. The one full-service restaurant was very pricey and not very good. I had the buffet breakfast which was totally standard or substandard (sad, bruised fruit in the fruit bowl, three pathetic-looking yogurts in the ice, greasy, sliced potatoes substituting for home fries, almost non-working toaster took forever). Also, the menu was inaccurate - didn't list English Muffins or Continental Buffet. Had to ask the waiter about them. Finally, service was poor - took 15 minutes to get a waffle made by the kitchen and there was almost nobody in the place. The room had shabby furniture - beat-up side table, old TV set with minimal channels. Also, very annoying locally-inserted ads on LodgeNet, either froze or roasted in the room, uncomfortable double beds sagged in the middle. The pool and exercise facilities seemed ok. The hotel has an adjoining health club and hotel guests can use the exercise equipment at no cost, which was nice. Also, the pool area featured a dry sauna and fully-equipped locker rooms to allow clothes changes at the pool. Next time, I'd stay at the nearby Drury Inn or Homewood Suites instead and skip this place. Hilton can and should do better.
“Nice Hotel”
Very nice hotel. Our room was clean and comfortable. I would recommend the front desk have a gluten-free alternative to the warm cookie upon arrival. A bowl of apples would have been nice.
“Good experience”
Bed were awesome like sleeping in the clouds.
“problems, problems”
I traveled with my teenage daughter for a wedding and we stayed here because the reception at the Doubletree. (The bridal party was an hour late because the hotel's minibus carrying the wedding party broke down.) A bigger problem was our room: Bugs crawling up the walls and just about everywhere. At the hotel desk they were not surprised. "Those are the Japanese beetles", he said. The only other rooms available then were with one bed and they weren't sure if a roll-away bed was available. This father did not want to share a bed with his 16 y.o. daughter! He first sent us to a room where the thermostat was broken. Finally we got another room, with no bugs, but no help moving was offered. The roll-away bed was delivered, sort-of. It was left out in the hallway. The room was too small to get the bed into without me lifting and carrying chairs, lamps, and leaving them where we had to squeeze by them to get around. I guess I can also mention the door cards never worked for anyone, we had at least 10 of them. I was also annoyed that the in-room wifi was an added charge. Its free at Red Roof, Comfort Inn, not to mention at McDonald's, Starbucks. I really shouldn't complain about the wedding reception food - I was there for the fun with family and friends - but definitely I can't recommend it.
“great hotel, good prices”
great hotel, great prices, great location
“Will be back”
The only deficit i saw was that the bed was much to soft for us, we prefer a firm to very firm bed
“Fancy Shmantzy but everything costs extra”
Awesome room, very comfortable bed, nice accomodations all around. But... Give me a break!!! They wanted nearly ten dollars per day to log onto the wi-fi from my room. The wi-fi was free in the lobby but I travel for work and do not want to spend my time in the lobby, thank you! Cookies? I didn't try them. Won't stay here again, although it is a wonderful hotel if you have extra money to spend for items which should be free. They really need to quit with the extra fees for internet. It's ridiculous!
“Nice Hotel”
We booked the Doubletree because it was well rated, reasonably priced and was close to the Missouri wine country. Oktoberfest weekend, corresponding with our anniversary. In almost every way, it was a great stay. First the negatives, because they were minor. Housekeeping was slow, with room not cleaned and made up until late each afternoon. Housekeeping staff was mostly hispanic and did not communicate well in English. However, room was spotless after each day's cleaning and they did provide extra coffee on request. Room was a little smaller than expected, but very comfortable and well furnished. Lockers in the spa/pool did not have locks furnished. Cable TV had 3 ESPN channels but not Fox Sport, so could not watch Blues Hockey. That is it for negatives. Positives. Even the non-handicapped rooms had bath safety rails, important to my wife with her bad ankle and cane. Good room soundproofing. Quiet neighborhood. Desk staff was very good and always helpful, especially Patricia, who was great. Pool and spa were clean and well maintained. Very nice. Breakfasts were very good, if somewhat overpriced. The omelet chef good, but I would have preferred different choices of ingredients. Lots of fresh fruit, very nice hot buffet. Right off US I-64. Very convenient to both Hermann and Augusta area wineries. (Less than an hour to Hermann, about 30 minutes to Augusta.) Also to downtown, but we did not go there this time. I would stay again and high reccommend.
“Very Nice Stay at this Hotel”
It was a very nice stay, we would look this one up if ever we are in the area again.
“Great hotel on the inside”
The inside of the hotel is very nice, so don't let the outside fool you. There's a great pool and a really amazing fitness center. The only problem was the housekeeping service which was insanely frustrating since they never cleaned on time and then would argue with us.
