Spacious with extra amenities

Posted Jul 28, 2015
Pros: The space and amenities
Location: Near interstate
This hotel stands out in all the right ways. Our room had two bed rooms, two baths, a full kitchen and living area, along with it's own entrance. For a family it was great to have so much space to spread out. The staff helped me with all my questions about the metro system. When I spoke with him about an issue with the pull out couch the repairman was to our room before us, that is incredible service. I have already recommended this hotel to two families.

We loved it!

Posted Jul 28, 2015
Pros: We liked the space since it is a suite and the closeness to everything. The breakfast is free and great. Friendly staff!
Cons: The tv needs to be up higher, possibly in an entertainment center so it can be watched also from the bed. Couple of chairs needed fixing cosmetically.
Location: The location is great. It is minutes away from the casino /amphitheater if you are coming in for a concert. There are stores/food close by too.
The suite was clean, comfortable and pretty. The kitchen was immaculate, plenty of space and had everything you need. The bathroom/dressing area was spacious and the closet was large. The staff was friendly and helpful and the FREE breakfast was very nice. We enjoyed the pool and will come back in cooler weather to check out the massive fire pit and grilling area. It was a great stay overall. It is within minutes of food, stores and the casino/amphitheater.

Outstanding in every aspect!

Posted Jul 27, 2015
Pros: We arrived early - before check-in time. The front desk staff kindly offered the use of the pool while we waited and came and got us when ready!
Location: 20 min West of downtown St. Louis. We did the City Museum and Cardinals game this trip. Will return for the Zoo (free), the arch and maybe more!
I can't say enough good things about this hotel. The executive summary is that it's clean, updated, comfortable, with a super-friendly staff a decent included breakfast and a nice little pool. In a nice suburban location, close to the Interstate without being too loud, about 20 minutes outside of downtown St. Louis. If you like details, read on: The property is set up like a 2-story apartment complex, with exterior entry to all rooms. Our suite was a second (top) floor unit and was amazing! It is basically a 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo. You enter into the living area with a pull out couch, chair, TV, and fireplace (!) as well as a small table and fully stocked galley kitchen. Full size fridge/freezer, electric range/oven, microwave, sink, dishwasher and coffeemaker; plates, bowls, glasses, flatware, cooking utensils were all provided. This is a well apportioned extended stay setup which we only took advantage of for one night. Off the living area, through french doors is the spacious 1st bedroom with a super comfortable Queen bed, small work desk and office chair and wall mounted flat screen TV. Adjoining bathroom was clean, updated, spacious and had a great, functional showerhead (this detail may seem unimportant until you've experienced truly awful showerheads!). There was also a 2nd loft bedroom with its own queen bed, TV and full bathroom. This place was huge!

Never staying here again!

Posted Jul 23, 2015
First off, the smell made us feel as if we were at an old beach house and we were in St. Louis, not Miami. There was unidentifiable hair in bed, yuck. This was our 3rd night of 5 at a hotel as we crossed the U.S. This was by far the worst.

Would stay again.

Pros: Great place for families.
Cons: Wish there were rooms with inside doors.
Excellent staff. Our room needed a little updating, but I could see signs that others were being renovated during our stay.

staff alert!

Make sure your toddlers wear shoes to breakfast or they will make you leave. Also you will get a 5 minute warning when the pool closes. Very strict and picky.

Dear previous guest, Being a parent of 3 I can understand the hectic morning routine of making sure you have everything and kids ready and trying to get to breakfast. That said we have certain Health and Safety policies Wyndham, City of Maryland Heights and Missouri make us follow to keep our licence. In fact because we are a hotel and food service establishment we have more. One of those is, you must where shoes in the breakfast area. I know we have never told anyone to leave because of this, but we do always ask you put shoes on anyone of any age for their safety. As for the pool, I do apologize. We try to give at least 15 minutes notice of when the pool is going to close. Though the times are located in 3 different areas letting people know of its available use. As it is an outdoor pool with guest rooms surrounding it, we try to be courteous to all our guests. I am sorry you feel our staff is very strict and picky, but as any business we have guidelines and laws we must abide to for the enjoyment and safety of all our guests. Nice service, but furniture was 15 yrs out of date

Posted Jul 13, 2015
Pros: Service, cleanliness
Cons: Furniture
Location: Did not stay long enough to see, I was there for a conference in St Loius MO only.
Hotel staff was courteous and prompt, and willing to go the extra mile for me, especially at 5:30am. I wanted to make my protein shake but the blender I had brought with me is quite loud and I did not want to wake up people in the rooms next to me. I went to the lobby and the rep (Tasha) behind the counter was willing to get me the ice and water I needed from the hotel kitchen. Other hotels would have had the rep saying that they needed to stay at the counter since it was still the middle of the night, but Tasha just said "Sure!" and went to get the ice and water for me. When I checked into the room the furniture was old and kind of dated ( I am thinking about 15-20 years out of date ) and one of the chairs in the room the armrests was peeling badly, but since I only used the room to hold my belongings and sleep, I could not care less. The walls were kind of thin as I could hear the family of (6 it sounded like?) above me stomping around, but at least they were quiet during the night. The service that cleaned the room when I 1st arrived did a wonderful job, and the personal note saying : Hope you enjoy your stay!" was a nice touch. All in all I am giving it a 4 out of 5 simply due to the furniture, I would definitely stay again if/when I have another conference to go to in that area, and if you upgrade the furniture in the units, then it will get a 5 out of 5.

Brian, Thank you for taking the time to let us know how we did. Our team at the Hawthorn Suites works very hard every day in both service and product to insure our guests have the best experience. I can not wait to read your comments, especially in regards to Tasha, at the morning meeting. We are currently in the middle of a renovation, and the furniture is top on the list to be addressed. Hopefully on your next visit you will see all the new improvements and enjoy our new up to date furniture. Thank you Chuck Schoene General Manager

quiet location, nice amenities

Posted Jul 12, 2015
Pros: Spaciousness, work out room, quiet setting, breakfast, parking right outside room - no elevators
Cons: Room door hard to open, closet doors wouldn't stay on tracks, cold pool, needs hotter hot tub with stronger jets, WiFi signal too weak and insecure
Location: quiet neighborhood, no restaurants or convenience stores within walking distance drive to downtown St Louis ~ 30 min, worse during rush hour
Great space for a family of 5 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living room and kitchen area, 3 flat screen TV's nice pool and hot tub area, pool was a bit small and cold, hot tub wasn't hot enough and didn't bubble nice grilling and firepit area beside pool pool closed at 10pm, seemed too early for us kitchen could have used a frying pan and spatula maid service did a great job, you are able to write requests on a board by the door, and they left us cheerful notes when they were done each day Awesome work out room, 2 bikes, 2 treadmills, 2 ellipticals - all with TV monitors and "disposable" ear buds nautilus machine, several dumbbells of different weights nice laundry room - 3 washing machines and 3 dryers
