Eat Breakfast at Denny's, Bring Towels to the Pool

Posted Nov 1, 2013 on Hotels.com
Two things attracted me to stay at this particular hotel when all others were booked: 1) Continental Breakfast. 2) Indoor Pool. The breakfast was a sparse assortment of ersatz carbohydrates, coffee, and a few open carafes (note: open beverage containers = REALLY unappetizing... -5 points) of milk and orange juice on ice (+1 point). No waffles, syrup or anything tantalizing for kids. Now, the pool. Fared better: Indoor, and heated. BUT-- NO NEARBY BATHROOM. (-10 points) You have to trek all the way back to the lobby to get to the closest bathroom. And there were no towels placed in the pool area either, so if you forgot, you had to trek back to the lobby or your room. To get more towels to replace the dampened ones, the lobby asked me to damp ones and trade. Bottom line, I stayed in a Marriott in Florida for the same price a night and got FAR better breakfast and accommodations, even had fresh baked cookies at the front desk at check-in. This hotel is old and has some rust and leaky faucets, but no huge problems like leaky or noisy Package-Type Air Conditioners. They can still get by for a little while without full-blown remodeling, but they really need more attention to detail on improving the features that attract people. P.S. Denny's right across the street had a great breakfast, was a part of a large Flying J Truck Stop outfit, so you don't have to go very far if you forgot any toiletries or needed to fuel up before getting back on the highway.

Nice hotel near St. Louis

Posted Aug 6, 2013
Stayed two days at a hotel near St. Louis because of the price and that it had an indoor pool and Jacuzzi. The pool temp was freezing and the Jacuzzi was broke and was unable to repair it.

If everything else is booked

Posted Jul 31, 2013 on Hotels.com
If everything else in the area was booked, I'd stay here again. The hot tub was out of order and after a long trip I was looking forward to a nice soak. The cops were called to the motel to pick up a local girl which stirred up a lot of commotion for our group because we were lounging out front in our lawn chairs at the time the police got there. There was no toilet paper in our room upon arrival and after many attempts to wake the front desk person, he finally woke up long enough to get the toilet paper out of the supply closet. They did have hot coffee in the morning with a continental breakfast which was nice and the beds were comfortable. The location is nice and accessible to the highways we needed while we were in town.

GOOD FOR THE MONEY

For the price the hotel was fine. Not a lot of extra amenities you'd find in a larger hotel but it was safe and comfortable.

You get what you pay for

This was the cheapest hotel room I could find, I just needed a place to stay for the night. It wasn't bad for the price. No elevator if you have lots of luggage. Not a 5 star hotel but I would stay here again if need be. Nothing aound except for Denny's & Flying J's

Friendly Staff

Posted Jul 14, 2013
Pros: Price was good and hotel staff very friendly.
Cons: Only two small pillows in the room and the television wasn't very loud. It was an older zenith t.v.
Location: It was about five minutes from Horseshoe Lake State Park, 10 minutes from Cahokia Mounds and 20 minutes from St. Louis Arch. Hen House Restaurant.
Hotel staff was very friendly. Room was clean and quiet. Indoor pool was really nice and clean. Looked to be very family friendly.

Had to wait to check in no one would come to counter. There was dog food on the floor the whole stay. Floors did not look clean in the pool area either.
