this property is walking close to several attractions in downtown st louis, yet in a very quiet location. it is a classic building with extremely friendly and helpful staff. rates are much lower than surrounding hotels, but it does not lack in any respect. it has everything including an indoor basketball court. I hate to reveal the secret and not be able to get a room on my next trip to the city.

Quaint but dated hotelPosted Sep 20, 2014
The staff was fantastic, the common areas are great, but the guest rooms are pretty austere.

Look past the roomPosted Sep 16, 2014 on Hotels.com
If you stay at the Missouri Athletic Club and only see the room, you've stayed in the wrong hotel. The staff at MAC was very friendly and extremely helpful. We were within walking distance of the St. Louis Arch and some amazing places to eat. We walked no more than 3 blocks to the Laclede's Landing and had wonderful dinner at Morgan Street Brewery. After dinner we walked over to the Arch and then back to the hotel. While you at the Missouri Athletic Club take time to soak in some of it's history. Word of advice, wear a collared shirt. For those who must know about the room, yes it's probably a bit smaller than other hotels in the area. The bed was comfortable, the wifi was good, and there were two closets to store belongings. The only thing the bathroom needed was a slightly larger shelf to place toiletries on.

Good hotel for the pricePosted Sep 13, 2014 on Hotels.com
For it's age, it's a very well kept hotel. That being said, it doesn't have many of the amenities you expect with a modern or big chain hotel.

Old School Stylish HotelPosted Sep 2, 2014 on Hotels.com
If you are wanting to stay at a cookie cutter chain hotel, this place is not for you. I was blown away by the decor, the cleanliness, and most of all the SERVICE! Old school Gentlemens Club, with 3 floors for hotel room use. The bathrooms are a little small, but clean. They provide hair dryers, but there is no electric outlet in the bath, so bring a powerstrip for your electronics. Go ahead and pay the $12 facilities fee, there is a billiards room on the 10th floor, pool, steam sauna, hot tub. The walls are thin, as this is an historical building, so if you're a light sleeper, bring a sound machine, or ear plugs. Make sure to eat in the Jack Buck grill, great burgers and cold beer. If you don't like smoke, don't stay here as cigars are welcome in the grill after 3pm. I love a good cigar, so it was a delight! Our room had a ceiling fan, and was very comfortable as the temps were in the 90s during our stay. They have a shuttle for Busch Stadium, but the walk for games is only 5 blocks or so.

Henry is great!!Posted Sep 2, 2014 on Hotels.com
This hotel is close to just about everything and within walking distance. Hotel has the old world charm but with that being said it could use some updates. The bathrooms in the rooms do not lock and you can only pull the door closed that doesn't close all the way. For the price you pay it is ok. Smells a little musty but not over powering. We would go back. We do not spend much time in the room. If you are going to stay in the room more you might want to reconsider they are a bit small.
