“Unclean”
When we arrived, I had to wait ten minutes for someone to come to the front desk for me to check in. The room I was in had a dark green carpet but you could tell that the floor wash extremely dirty and I need of a shampoo. The bathtub had a lot of dirt in it before we even used it. We also had no towels, soap or a shower curtain in the bathroom. After flooding the bathroom floor from taking a shower, I had to go to the front desk myself to get all of those items. The next night when we came back to the room we saw that the maid skipped our room and we didn't have fresh towels. Once again I had to go to the lobby for towels after them telling me I had to bring all my old towels down. It was just such a inconvenience to have such minor things a hotel should have the basic things. It was a very great price but I honestly felt that they could have at least had the room better prepared and clean.
“poor hotel in seedy neighborhood”
our room had very old furnishings and smelled smoky. The room did have a decent kitchen and it was a nice size room. Everything was quite old and needing refurnished. Would not stay here again.
“Would stay again.”
We booked this hotel b/c of the price (it was on sale) and it was centrally located for our vacation. I wanted to spend time in St. Louis as well as Alton, IL. This was a perfect location. The nice thing about the Extended Stay is there is no maid service everyday, which is fine, I never liked the idea of people being in my room. The hotel is on the older side, but the bed was comfortable and it had cable TV. No hair dryer however. We did not take advatage of the kitchen, except for the refridgerator. We were only in our room to sleep. Couple of things to note, the office closes at 11:00 p.m. I did not realize this and we showed up at 11:30, but I used the courtosy phone and someone came to check us in and was very nice about it -Thank you for that!. Second, the location is right off the interstate and set back, so you really have to look for the street you turn down, we missed it the 1st time. There is not much in that area, couple other hotels and industrial park, but if you head to the other side of the interstate there are plenty of resturants. Overall, I felt safe, it was clean, staff was friendly and you could not beat the price.
“I will never go back to this hotel again”
I travel to St Louis a lot, so I was looking for a less expensive hotel. Check in was ok and my room seemed fine. I made numerous calls to the front desk during the night though because the people in the room above me were stomping, fighting and making an amount of noise that prevented me from sleeping. I asked for another room and was told that there were no other rooms available. It wasn't until 2:30 am and 3 phone calls to the desk before the people stopped making so much noise. I then woke up at 5am with the smoke alarms going off. Firemen knocked on all of the doors and determined that someone down the hall had left a candle burning and it burned a cup and that smoke set off the alarm. I did not fall asleep again. I called the front desk and told them I was checking out and that I would like to have the manager call me because I did not think that I should have to pay for a room in which I was unable to sleep because of the noise above. While I received a refund via Expedia I never received a phone call from the manager. This hotel has lost my business forever.
“What I Paid For”
As with nearly all hotels, you get what you've paid for. This hotel was no exception. For the price it was good, the location being the only truly poor factor. Getting from the hotel to the Midtown-Saint Louis University area was a hassle. Again, the price was great for what I got, the hotel itself was comfortable, not particularly clean or dirty, and was close to a 7 Eleven and gas station. Overall I would recommend this to someone who had prearranged transport or a car if they wanted to get more toward the downtown area.
