"just right"
I booked just an overnight stay, on business, but Seven Gables Inn is fully worthy of a weekend stay for fun. An elegant small hotel in downtown Clayton, I can picture myself staying there while visiting places I loved as a child--the St. Louis Art Museum, the Zoo, etc. My room was quite splendid--except for the views from the windows (since the Inn is situated between parking decks and other urban structures, hardly the Inn's fault). I did not try the restaurant, except for breakfast (which was very good). There are quite a few other restaurants of all kinds in a 2-3 block radius. Cafe Napoli impressed me favorably.

Had a great stay at the Four Seasons St. Louis. Trip was part business, part pleasure and the ambiance of the hotel made the whole stay enjoyable and memorable. The accommodations are great and the food at Cielo is fantastic. St. Louis is a great city with a lot of history and I wouldn't hesitate to return and stay at this great hotel.

"Nice hotel"
We wanted to stay in town for an event that started early the next morning. While booking the hotel, we discovered there are two Hilton hotels in downtown St. Louis. Expedia gave descriptions of what was near the hotels but since they were only 3-4 blocks apart, the descriptions almost matched word for word. It would have been easier if there was an address so that we could make sure we went to the correct hotel because sure enough, we went to the wrong one.
