“Very impressed and will go back, the service can't be beat.”

Didn't know what to expect since I've never been to St. Lucia, did not know anyonre who had been there. I read the reviews from other hotels, and was not too impressed. I needed one that actually wasbeach front on level ground, I and my 83 year old mother are both handicaped. Most hotels say they're on the beach however you take a bus or be driven down cliffs to get there. Their pictures make their beaches look like they are right in front on level ground, not the case with Bay Gardens Beach Resort, it's trulely on the beach. The room very clean, they kept it that way.Never had to asked for anything. Food at their 2 resturants on site can not be beat for the price & quality, which here in Maryland I could never get such a good meal (fresh, cooked to order, and willing to do anything you wish). The price seems high however, the menues are in EC's currency not US $, so don't be as shocked as I was when you receive the bill, the bill also shows US $ amount, then you will laugh, and see that it was extremely well priced for the quaility. However, if staying in the Castries area you definently have to use Castries airport, it's2 hrs from the south side airport, 27 miles away, through hills&curves like you have never experienced before. The only bad part American Airlines which I bought through Expedia, they changed my departing flight 2 weeks before my trip, and I lost a full day on the island, and had to spend it waiting 8 hours in San Juan airport, and AA did not care.

“Very impressed”

This is most likely one of the best designed and kept, particularly in the front-office & housekeeping services. I was there on business; but would like to return for total relaxation.

“awesome location, beautiful beach and friendly people!”

This was an incredible trip! The Bay Gardens Beach Resort is on a beautiful beach. The grounds are pretty but small enough to feel intimate. The rooms are good, large bathroom. It's close enough to walk into town (10-15 mins) for many dining options. (Big Chef was one of our favorites). The people at the hotel go out of their way to be friendly at this hotel, amazing. happy hour every night at 5:30. This one one of the most relaxing trips I have ever been on and woud definitely recommend Bay Gardens Beach Resort! I know I will go back again.

Area recommendations
we did the all day tour of the St. lucia with the hotel. It is a long day (10-5) but well worth it to see most of the island. You leave on a speedboat and go down the coast, see Marigot Bay, go to the mudbath and waterfall, then lunch and snorkeling in between the Pitons. If you want a flavor of St. Lucia it is an easy way to get in all done in one day and leave the rest of the trip for beach time and relaxing.
When to go
we went in october which is still the slow season. the beaches and hotel were very quiet. great news is we never had to wait for a drink at the bar, no reservations required at any restaurants, and always plenty of room at the pool or beach. The weather was beautiful!

“No stress St. Lucia”

Bay Gardens Beach Resort is an upscale, yet affordable fantastic getaway. No elevators for rooms. Ask for 1st floor if it makes a difference. One step up. Room, pool, restaurant, beach are two minute walk from each other. Great food and not expensive. Order off the menu if you don't see it. Service is whatever you need. 1/1/12 brings optional all-inclusive w/liquor ($110/day). Great restaurants close by(Rodney Bay) are worth the effort.(Big Chef, The Edge, Buzz, Charthouse) Find a taxi to take you to the mud baths and tour the island. Hotel prices are higher. Beach location is APLUS. This one is a keeper.

Area recommendations

“Perfect for folks like us!”

St. Lucia is the most beautiful island this side of Hawaii. We traveled there first for my work (three days in Castries), then three days of pure vacation at the Bay Gardens Beach Resort. It's on the northern tip of the island, so rather far (1.5 hours) and expensive ($80 or more taxi) from the main airport Hewanorra, which is at the southern tip; much closer to Vigie (George Charles) airport in Castries, but which accommodates only small planes. We are not folks who stay at the extremely pricey, all-inclusive hotels. The Bay Gardens was a terrific bargain (our stay in September was a little out of season), with immaculate rooms, wonderful beach right outside the door, a nice pool (though the ocean was so inviting, we never went into it). The restaurant was quite good, and reasonably priced. If you want to venture down the road, within walking distance there are a fair number of other restaurants and hotels; we never bothered - we ate at the Bay Gardens the three nights we were there. Especially if you don't have a car, the ability to walk to the village (15 minutes) is great, since you will find a large, modern supermarket not to mention other restaurants. Did I mention that the staff was uniformly friendly and helpful? They certainly were. My wife and I would certainly return, though air and land time will consumer the better part of the day.

Area recommendations
it's not a city. Take the full-day tour by catamaran and bus to see the island. Well worth it.
Must see
The Piton mountains; the botanical garden; the rugged, beautiful, treed shore-line.

“can't wait to go back”

hotel has an amazing beach (the softest sand on the island) with amazing views, including perfect sunsets every night. it's a bit far from the airport (~2 hours up the eastern coast) but it's walking distance from a number of great restaurants and shopping malls. they offer water sports and tours directly from the beachfront which is convenient as well.

“Will return ASAP!!!!”

If you're not used to the sun , start with an all round sunblock of 30 t0 50!!!! The beach was the cleanest in all of Rodney Bay,Excellent food, wonderful service and "No" the venders don't bother you in the off season, Rained for ten minutes 2 xa day. everything was in walking distance. The hotel caters to everyone from toddlers to seniors and singles. We're going back ASAP!!!!The staff was exceptional!!!!Happy hour every day, parties 3-4 times a week. If you don't see what you want on the menu, check with the chef and he'll do you a favor!!Don't order the morning buffet as it's 3 times the cost of anything on the breakfast menu. The Bay Gardens Beach Resort and Spa has better rooms in the newer buildings. They kept their beach spotless and supplied chairs and unbrellas. The other 3-4 hotels ( Rex, Sandals, etc) had the trashiest beaches and looked like the outside facing the bay hadn't been maintained in years. Lots to do and you never want to leave the beach. The marketplace is very safe and we all separated once we got there by local bus We met up later and compared purshases and prices. everyone is so sweet there. The school system insists they concentrate on tourism and what they can do to make their island the best..and it shows!!!

Area recommendations
Rodney Bay by far!! only a 10 minute walk into town where you can find the same things in the US at cheaper prices. Malls are malls, no matter where you go. We were the last hotel on Rodney Bay with the police station not more than 5oo feet from the entrance. We walked days with hats and night time to see the action and check out other prices and menus. There is a whole area at the begining of Rodney Bay filled with dance clubs for the younger scene that ends at dawn. You cannot hear any noise once you round the corner and head to the resorts. The larger resortslike almonds, windjammer, etc are for people that will go on a guided trip only and miss the most spectacular scenery. They're locked so far in to their part of the island, I would not venture out of the resorts in the daytime!!!!!I felt comfortable as a single woman with a cane walking around the main streets after dinner( 10pm) I was greeted with smiles. offered help with directions and ran into so many friends from the hotel and local shops, they knew me by name!!!!Our hotel had the most incredible view at sunset of the yachts and schooners in the bay. Next time I'm bringing binoculars.
When to go
We went in the begining of August and the weather seemed a bit iffy when we arrived, but torrential rainstorms blew over in 10 minutes and didn't stop us from any of our activities. We did have an earthquake one night just after midnite, where the beds shook. Most of the people we met were from the UK. Honeymooners, families with small children, teenagers and singles are welcome as it's off season. We got better, fast service than we would have during high season. Don't bother bringing ponchos, as you dry off very quickly. DO Bring Bug spray or those new OFF Repelent cartridges to clip on to your clothes if you tend to get bit. I had no problem. Limit your sunblocks to 30 and 50 as anything less will have to be constantly reapplied as the sun/ clouds will burn you to a crisp! I spent most of my time in the water and rinsed off at the outside showers immediately as the water is very salty and you burn fast. You can exchange US dollars right at the lobby of the hotel. If your next door neighbors are a bit noisy, just complain at the desk and they will make sure it doesn't happen again. Free WiFi was a godsend for my 17 year old daughter. She made friends with a couple of older girls from Ireland and went clubbing with them almost every night...accompanied by our bartenders off for the evening. They also walked home at 2 am and had no trouble from the locals.
Getting there
I wanted to land at the Castries irport from boston but the timing was bad. We ended up at Henowarra(?)in the south. You see industry, poverty, businesses etc, just like anywhere else. The trip is a pleasant hour and a 1/2 drive, driving past banana plantations, farmland and the small fishing town of Dennery. They drive on the other side of the road and the price round trip for three was very reasonable. On the trip back, we were kept waiting at the hotel lobby for over an hour as my ex-husband didn't check the confirmation date for pickup....it was set up for the next day. I had called the day before and confirned the pickup time, but he recieved the notice under his door. They had a driver there within 10 minutes and got us to the airport in US because all the other ports are always insane and we still had to get up to Boston. They had wheelchairs ready at every airport for me and were extremely courteous. You most call your airlines ahead of time for the wheelchairs!!!!
What to pack
Bathing suits and the lightest cotton clothes you own. Evenings can be a little more formal and everyone got dressed up for the managers welcome party and buffet on Wednesday nites. Free drinks for an hour, then a buffet of some of the hotest jerk chicken I've ever eaten. They have little signs that tell you what you are looking at. The desserts were to die for. Their pastry chef is very sweet and takes great pride in her work. You can dress how ever you like for dinner but they really would prefer men to have shirts with collars and women in dresses. Casual to full on evening attire was the norm every nite. The few times we ate outside the resort were a disapointment and extremely overpriced.Stick with the food and snacks at the Bay Gardens Resort and Spa....you won't leave hungry.Beach cover ups or a t-shirt and sandels are fine during lunch where you overlook the entire bay. If you just feel like some fruit, the fruitman comes by in his little motor boat every hour. Bargain with him!!! and be sure to have him peel your fruit if you don't have a pocketknife available. He has bananas, pinepples, oranges( not like in the states) mangoes, papayas, coconuts and a small round fruit that takes like a lychee nut. Don't be afraid to wave him down and walk into the water to negotiate a fair price!!! Pack snorkle gear if you've got the room!!!!

“Great location! Bed was very comfortable unlike many other places! Loved my one week stay”

Before I booked my trip I was devating to stay at either the Windjammer or here Gardens Beach Resort and after spending one week at this place I must say that I made the right choice, don't get me wrong the windjammer is very nice and I am sure that they provide great service as well but they do not have the same beach access not to mentioned the beach is great for swimming for anyone. The beach is right outside your footsteps. I made my decison based on reading other reviews and I must say that I am so glad that I chosse beach gardens resort. It's very close to everything in the Rodney Bay area, great restaurants near by a must is Spice of India and Ku DA TA (thai food). Never use a taxi for anything other than aiport and back. Everything is within walking distance. Thank you Expedia for having reviews accessible to potential customers and Thank you Beach Gardens Resort for your hospitality! I will never forget my trip to ST. Lucia I finished off by hiking hiking the Gross Piton with my wife! Thanks Chad for been our guide!

When to go
Hottest time of the year in Saint Lucia is June-August althoug I did not think it was bad 90-94 degrees and somewhat humid. From what the locals said the high season there is December to April. I went the second week of August and it was great because it was not jammed pack but it was not lonely either.

“A 'Must' Return!!!”

First of all, St. Lucia is the best island I've ever been to...I must return next year! I had a great time at the Bay Gardens Beach Resort Hotel and Spa-spent 6 days along with my grandmother. The staff were fabulous! At first, I was a bit skeptical on how my stay would have turned out but when I arrived at the hotel, it was amazing!!! The front desk staff, the bartenders-especially Evan was realllyyy nice! Mixed me a special for my birthday-Thank you for that!... The cleaning staff (mostly Maria) kept our room clean all the time! The waitresses were really nice! Ms. Philippa and the gang! I even had a hotel mom there- Anything I needed she was able to help me! She made sure I was comfortable and that I was having fun! :) We loved the food..You get to request whatever you want-The chef would make it for you! My grandmother was really happy there too most important and so she sends all her love and gratitude towards the staff. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Treated us like family! I would recommend this hotel to anyone!! The experience there was AMAZING! Must visit for others and I must return!

Area recommendations
