Good optionPosted Feb 19, 2013
We stayed in the Hillside Coconut cottage - which was very nice. It was a climb to the cottage, but our luggage was taken care of for us, so that made it easier! The cottage was a decent size and had a balcony, with two comfortable sitting chairs. My only complaints about the room were the water pressure and that we could hear noises from the kitchen (clanging of pots/pans/plates) in the evening and night. The restaurant is ok - went for two lunches and one dinner. The chicken roti for lunch is very good. The mahi mahi for dinner was very dry and didn't have much flavor. We had a massage which was very nice and a very reasonable price! We also went on the plantation tour which I highly recommend as you hike to a nice view of the Petit Peton and then learn about the different plants and trees on the plantation. It's more of a rustic location, but it is still relaxing and the service was great.

quiet cottages in lots of greeneryPosted Feb 6, 2013 on Hotels.com
The cottage we stayed in (Bamboo) was lovely, very comfy large bed with a nice terrace. The whole place is so green, it is in a beautiful location. The pool area is nice, but the pools are very small so only really for cooling off rather than swimming. The only thing that let the hotel down was the food; the coffee at breakfast was terrible and evening meals were very hit and miss, with food sometimes undercooked and sometimes very overcooked and generally not that tasty for the price. I am not sure that the other nearby hotels have better food though. The choice of restaurants around Soufriere is not as good as in the north of the island.

Dear F Sutherland, We greatly appreciate your comments and remarks relating to your stay at Fond Doux Holiday Plantation. We truly appreciate your awareness of all the natural elements of our authentic plantation including the rainforest environment and our beautifully crafted secluded cottages. We take great pride in caring for our surroundings. We are disappointed to learn that you were not pleased with our food offerings as it is highly unusual for us to receive comments such as yours and generally our guests, irrespective of their reasons for traveling, give our culinary team high praise. We have met with our food and beverage team and have discussed your concerns in detail. We trust that your dining experiences have not left an indelible mark and that you will consider a return visit to Fond Doux Holiday Plantation at some point in the future. We would welcome the opportunity to share firsthand the improvements made in light of your concerns. Best Regards Eroline and Lyton Lamontagne

A tranquil gemPosted Jan 30, 2013 on Hotels.com
This hotel was quite different to the usual holiday resorts. The refurbished bungalows were spacious and comfortable and the views from the verandah were exceptional. The staff were all friendly and most helpful. The food was good, although the food on the weekly barbecue could be improved. The plantation is a little off the beaten track and you may feel that you need a hire car to get around. We did'nt have one and managed with available transport services, taxis and publis buses. However for friedliness and the tranquility of the location it would be hard to beat Fond Doux.

Great hotel for nature loversPosted Dec 20, 2012
Pros: Single dwelling, tranquil, distance between each cottage, in touch with nature: sounds of the wild were pleasing to the ears.
Cons: The Breakfast menu was a bit limited.
We really like the atmosphere at the hotel. May not be suitable for family with kids because there aren't much kids friendly activities on the premsies. However, if you are a nature lover, you will appreciate the ambiance a whole lot.

Natural Plantation Paradise...Posted Sep 16, 2012 on Hotels.com
fantastically friendly St Lucian owners and staff made us feel like staying with friends. The plantation is paradise for children with exotic fruits and animals everywhere. Very relaxing, away from beach but hotel shuttles guests down to great jalousie beach. Highly recommended if you want a more quiet, individual and characterful place to stay..

Love this very unique stay! We stay in the avocadoPosted Sep 15, 2012
Pros: Beautiful grounds and flowers. Also I loved they encouraged you to eat any fruit off the trees that you wanted.
Cons: It would be nice if you could get a ride on a van/bus to the Fish Fry in Anse La Raye for a small fee. We had a car so it wasnt a big deal for us.
Location: Closer to the Hewanorra International Airport (UVF).
My husband and I really enjoyed our stay. One of my concerns before arriving was that they had no air conditioning in the rooms because my husband doesnt handle the heat very well, however this was not and issue. It cooled down in the evenings well and if he was a little warm he cooled off in the pool. The staff is absolutely amazing! Phillip gave a wonderful tour and we looked forward to seeing him each day. Katrina always had a great smile and was willing to organize any activity you wanted to do on the island, with some great tips. Johnson always made some yummy drinks and was very funny. The Chef was great; he made us a special meal with the fish we caught, I guarantee you that a fancy resort wont give you this kind of special treatment. Also the owners Eroline & Lyton Lamontagne are so friendly. If you stay here remember the number 222, if you call this from any phone, such as your room or pool they will bring you whatever drink you please! We loved the sound of the jungle at night, I felt it was very relaxing but it does get loud. They are not directly next to the beach but will take you to Jalousie beach. We never went to this beach but instead went to a closer one that was quite, a nice snorkel spot, and we were not hassled to buy anything (ask Lyton for directions he said it is the beach he goes to). This is a very unique place to stay and my husband and I both agree that if anything would make us return to St Lucia it would be the Fond Doux.
Fantastic experiencePosted May 26, 2012 on Hotels.com
We very much enjoyed our stay at FondDoux. The staff were a joy, friendly and helpful. Our cottage onthe hill had a lovely view from the balcony overlooking the rainforest. the cottage was clean and comfortable. We spent a few days just walking the grounds and trails, enjoying the beautiful tropical flowers and birds. Several of the cottages are restored houses moved here from neighboring towns, it's really interesting to visit.

UnforgettablePosted May 10, 2012
Pros: Place away from civilization, Real working cocoa plantation, Tasty food
Cons: wi-fi available only at reception, restaurant and bar
Location: Perfect - nearby is Jalosie beach, the Pitons, Sulphur Hot Springs, Soufriere town, etc.
Staff is friendly and ready to help you. Location is perfect - you are in a real plantation, surrpinded by tropical trees and flowers, main touristic attractions can be reached by foot, hotel shuttle, public bus or taxi. Jalousie beach is just perfect. And also don't miss the oppotunity to try local cuisine at Fond Doux restaurants. We liked the best - sea food pasta, ginger and plantine soup (never tastet anything similar) and all 5 kinds of breakfast.
