Great get away!

Posted Feb 18, 2015
This is a great get away paradise. You will wake up by the birds and other creatures, beautiful plantations and even a little trail for hiking up to see the pitons. Lunch Manu is great, but dinner needs improvement. The room is clean and spacious but it needs hand towels rack in the toilet room.

10 Cute cottages surronded by a working plantation

Posted Feb 6, 2015
Pros: Everything was wonderful. But the best thing about this hotel was the knowledgeable and caring staff.
Location: Plantation tour. Tet Paul nature trail. Sunset at Dasheen Restaurant. The Pitons. Various waterfalls and hot springs. Sugar Beach.
We had a great time among the Cocao, Banana, Grapefruit, Guava, Papaya, Cinamon, and Nutmeg trees.

A nature lovers' dream in a tropical forest!

Posted Jan 29, 2015
Charming cottages, surrounded by countless varieties of trees ( cocoa, banana, coconut, mango, grapefruit ......) and beautiful flowers. On taking the complimentary tour with Philip we discovered the wonders of this beautiful plantation and tasted the sweet pulp which surrounds the cocoa seeds, a must! All the staff are wonderfully helpful and warm, Leonita, Happiness, Dennis , Tonia and Evancia to name just a few, they make you feel very welcome. The food was carefully prepared, simple but delicious, maybe more of a variety would have been appreciated. My husband and I particularly enjoyed the breakfast menu , the local bakes and accras! The courtesy shuttle to the beach was useful, plus there are a variety of places to visit. We enjoyed Tet Paul, a nature trail created by some local youths who enthusiastically explained the medicinal uses of plants and trees plus there was a spectacular view of the Pitons. However I suggest to take a taxi there unless you enjoy a steep walk ( 30 mins from the plantation). For me, it was a wonderful tranquil , relaxing experience, a revelation and an awakening of the senses, I came home curious to learn more about St. Lucia and its' hidden gems!

The Hidden Gem is St. Lucia

My wife and I spent out honeymoon at this beautiful plantation. The entire staff was friendly and courteous. I would highly recommend this to any person(s) looking for a vacation or wedding/honeymoon that is off the beaten path. Centered among all the top sights we visited. Can't say enough about this place. Wow!

Balanced view

Posted Dec 28, 2014
Pros - real plantation rainforest location; great cottages, courteous caring staff and owners; close to best beach on island - sugar beach; reasonably priced; buffet breakfast Cons - need a car; nearby eating options limited and expensive; loud crickets and birds all night (they provide ear plugs), no A/c which may be an issue some months; had a couple of big bugs and small lizards in cottage at night so be ready for a rustic experience

Our cottage was large and clean. The only thing we missed was TV! The staff and grounds are just beautiful! The free breakfast we good and we ate at the restaurant and the lobster was fantastic! This place was unique! We loved the swimming pools with the water falls... I got engaged in the pool! So nice.. peaceful and a great wind down for the last few days of our vacation.

A different experience in the rainforest

Posted Nov 26, 2014
Fond Doux is a hotel in the middle of the rainforest. 10 or so bungalows built into the side of the hills, it's a very unique property. The employees are some of the friendliest hotel employees we've ever encountered. Breakfast and parking are included. WiFi is available in the common areas but not the rooms. Be prepared to be without a tv here but that's part of the experience - being out in nature. The scenery is beautiful. Be sure to do the short trail hike that leads to a very nice view of the Pitons.

Can this be the ultimate hotel for a vacation? Yes

Posted Oct 28, 2014
Pros: I stated specifics above---everything!
Cons: Nothing
Location: Exploring the beautiful plantation and hiking in the rainforest. Soaking beneath waterfalls or in springs, beaches, climbing up the Pitons.
Imagine in your mind's eye a cocoa (cacao) plantation hard by a rainforest. Now merge all into a botanical garden filled with exotic flowering plants including orchids, tropical fruit trees, a gorgeous colonial plantation house, paths with natural beauty at every turn leading to charming private cabins. Add two outstanding restaurants with quality St. Lucian cuisine and fine musical entertainment on some evenings, a three tiered pool with falls surrounded by lush plantings, seeing how chocolate is made and colorful birds and butterflies. The icing on the cake are the sincerely friendly staff and convivial owners. All are competent, helpful and kind. They anticipate every need. How could I forget the essentials: room, spotlessly clean, comfortable bed, fine outdoor shower, free shuttle to pretty Sugar Beach with its excellent snorkeling and view of the twin Piton peaks. Spend some time at romantic Fond Doux, meet the wonderful people of St. Lucia and renew your body and soul. Stress will vanish instantly. John M. USA

Authentic,quiet and traditional holiday resort.

Posted Oct 28, 2014
Pros: See above.
Cons: The swimming pools are not child friendly. Some of the cottages are set high up with many steps. Many walkways are timber so slippery when wet.
Location: Set in the rainforest. You know what to expect near the end of the rainy season. It is quiet and away from the main tourist spot on the Island.
We have just experience a lovely holiday resort. With excellent staff. A chef who understood gluten free requirements and went out of her way to please me. Much appreciated as I suffer with the coeliac condition. We used their taxi service to and from the beaches ( which were beautiful). We stayed in a cottage up in the rainforest with lots of wildlife around. It made our day to see so many birds, butterflies and lizards. We had a complementary tour of the Plantation with Philip as our guide. He took us to the top where we had a fantastic view of Little Piton. We did a number of tours which were fun to do. We also did a number of visits by ourselves using the resorts taxi's so we could make our holiday suit us. Don't come here if you expect Sandals conditions. These cottages are made by the local craftsmen, are French colonial in style and made mostly from timber. The cottages are set with distance between them so privacy is most appreciated. The owner makes a big effort to greet everyone with a warm welcome and a drink. He also made sure we left with a handshake and a smile. Much appreciated. A big Thank you to all. Peter and Barbara.
