Rustic charm and not the "cookie cutter" resortPosted Nov 21, 2013
Pros: Not commercial and "polished" like most resorts. Not too far from great attractions such as Tet Paul trail (A MUST!!).
Cons: A microwave would be nice.
Location: Only 1 1/2 miles from Soufriere and close to Anse Chastanet. We also spent time in Castries and all the "must sees" were near Soufriere.
If you want commercialism and the most elegant accomodations, this place isn't for you. However, if you want the following simple pleasures, read on: a perfect breeze blowing through your French doors, sitting in a rocker on your balcony with a priceless view of the Pitons, a variety of fresh fruit (grown on the plantation) delivered to your room each day, staff who know you by name and make you feel most welcome, relaxing in the infinity pool watching the sailboats in the bay (which also has a priceless view of the Pitons), daily breakfast buffet which is included in the price of the room, and a "No worries Mon" atmoshphere.

Great view on the PitonsPosted Aug 13, 2013
Pros: Infinity pool and view on the Pitons
Cons: It is up the hill (but there is a free shuttle service)
Location: The view from the resort is great but it is up the hill, you can walk down to Soufrière but might want to take a taxi to come back.
We really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful resort. The view and the infinity pool were amazing, the rooms were very comfortable with balconies and everything you need (we were upgraded to a cottage with living room, kitchen, terrace, balcony etc.). We enjoyed excellent dinner at the restaurant and the breakfast, shuttle service and WiFi in the room were free. We also took a nice tour to the volcano, waterfalls, botanical garden and beaches organized by the hotel.

La Haut Resort was perfect for us!Posted May 24, 2013
Pros: Genuinely Caribbean experience - and the Pitons!
Cons: Too wonderful
Location: The Soufriere area has the natural beauty that inspired our visit
La Haut Resort was perfect for us! The Pitons are exceptionally beautiful when seen from the property, the landscaped gardens include a wide variety of local trees and flowers that attract hummingbirds, our room in the plantation house was spacious and clean, the bed was very comfortable, the wash room included a tiled shower, and the balcony was shaded all day. The daily breakfast in the restaurant included fresh fruit and juice often from trees on the property, and the chef created an egg-free vegetarian breakfast recipe that was simply delicious, as were the other vegetarian options offered lunch and dinner. La Haut has truly lovely people on staff, in the office, the concierge, and in the restaurant, as well as the housekeepers, the gardeners, the drivers – we met many of the people who create a welcoming and genuinely Caribbean experience at La Haut. We highly recommend La Haut Resort and are looking forward to our next visit.

best views in st luciaPosted Nov 26, 2012 on Hotels.com
everything brilliant apart from some reception staff who were not very cheerful and seemed a bit overwhelmed with bits of paper. food good. restaurant staff lovely. rooms and beds comfortable. views stunning and many lovely places to visit. we hired a car, 4x4 which we found very useful to visit beaches and other resorts. La Haut has old colonial plantation feel about it, complete with resident friendly wandering bull and field of donkeys. two pools and the infinity pool best view ever!

Stunning views.Posted Oct 2, 2012
Pros: The scenery
Cons: Nothing in particular
Location: Wonderful setting, looking right at a Piton (pointy mountain).
The hotel overlooks Soufriere and the bay by the town. The scenery is breathtaking. The staff was superfriendly and the rooms are very nice. The pools are nice, with one overlooking the bay. It's a quiet hotel in lush surroundings.

Superb settingPosted Mar 25, 2012
Pros: The magnificent setting and views.
Cons: The lights from the laundry reflecting through the glass-block "windows" at night was disconcerting
Location: The views from the hotel over Soufriere and the Pitons are superb. The hotel is well positioned for seeing the local sights.
The setting on the hillside is magnificent. The rooms are quaintly and typically Caribbean. The hotel is well positioned for seeing the local sights and there is a shuttle service to the local Ans Chastenet beach where there is good swimming and some of the best snorkelling on the island. Did not use the swimming pool but it is of reasonable size and deep enough for "proper" swimming. There is a games room and library. The restaurant and bar occupy an elevated position, open to some of the best views on the island. The food is wholesome with a good choice of local dishes at reasonable prices.

Quirky but fun, priceless views!Posted Feb 24, 2012
Pros: The View!
Cons: Road you walk to/from buildings needs more lighting. Music blasts from the town at random times, out of the control of La Haut or others.
Location: Great location overlooking the town, sea and Pitons.
We stayed in a Premium Vista room (Cashew #3) and it was exactly as expected per their website and pictures. Nice room, huge balcony, good food and priceless views from room and restaurant! There are many more upscale (and far more expensive) resorts in the area but La Haut has one of the best views. The property, with animals all around, is kind of quirky but fun, and with only 13 rooms is more like a B&B than a "resort".
