keep in mind the following: 1) 1.5 hr drive to hotel from UVF airport. 2) Part of the pool area is currently under construction so you will hear power tools and workers throughout the day. 3) Be prepared to deal with beach vendors and misc people trying to sell you. 4) Many good hotels are in walking distance so that was a huge plus. Staff was super nice and accommodating.

Our room was very comfortable. Beach was clean and provided plenty of shade. Pool was also very nice. I would recommend this hotel in St Lucia

Nice oasis, comfy rooms, okay food

It took 1.5 hrs to travel from UVF airport to Royal resort at a cost of $85. Upon arrival we were assigned a beautiful room, with a very comfortable king size bed, a great bathroom (shower with rain head and spray jets), and a very comfortable living room and balcony. Most of the resort has been updated. The reception area and gym are the only areas that still need renovations. The hotel is within walking distance to many restaurants and coffee shops. We took daily strolls to eat breakfast and dinner. For lunch we ate at the hotel and at spinnakers. We had considered the sister Rex resort that is all inclusive and we were glad we didnt as those guests were coming over to eat at the Royal.

Nice hotel but room service could use an upgrade

Stayed one night during a business trip. This was my second time staying at this hotel. The rooms are very nice and have been recently renovated. the grounds are in reasonable condition but are not kept up particularly well and there is no special attention given to aesthetics. That said, Beach and Pool are very nice and that's what most people are coming for. I was disappointed with the selection of menu items available for delivery to the room. There were some fantastic dishes available at the restaraunts for dine in but the room service menu had a very limited offering. Also no elevators, so ask for a ground floor if you have any limitations.

Bel hotel bien placé et belle plage

il est bien placé avec une belle plage - mais ennuyeux car pas d'ambiance, par contre personnel très aimable - on avait l'impression d'être presque seul dans l'hotel. La chambre était belle mais mauvais matelas, il manquait le coffre. j'ai demandé un café au bar de la piscine et on me la refusé car il fallait aller aux cuisines, ce n'est pas normal il aurait pu aller en cuisine le chercher car personne à la piscine.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Royal. The location is well located very close to restaurants and shops. Staff is friendly and helpful and the food at the restaurant was excellent. Our room was comfortable. It has been re-modeled since the last time we were there and while it was nice, there were some issues. For instance, the lighting in the bathroom was very poor. The air conditioning was a little hard to regulate. It was either almost off or very cold. Common areas (e.g.: halls) were a little tired. The pool was lovely and the sun beds were brand new. The beach was great for swimming but very crowded with cruise ship day trippers. There is an area reserved for hotel guests which was an advantage. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Royal?

Not very. But this place although and older property, is gradually being updated. When we stayed the sister hotel next door was more full but this was a benefit to the slightly better Royal. Location is great because there are a number of decent restaurants nearby. We didn't mind that the restaurant and bar seemed to be a bit dead because you can walk hardly any distance at all to find restaurants and lil chef for breakfast. Spice of India is very good but razzmatazz was also nice. There is a bit of pool maintenance happening but may be done soon and most of the pool, which is right on the beach anyway, is open. The property is quite old looking but the bathrooms are new and modern and some of the furniture in the suites. Comfy bed and clean room which to me are key. Nice lounge area onto a patio in my room were good but you have stock your own minibar which is cheaper and you do get just what you want. and free wifi, something even city hotels haven't all brought in yet. Don't think it is a wowee property and you will have a pleasant stay. Staff always polite and welcoming.

Spacious suites and garden directly at the beach

Pros: The hotel and its garden is huge so that it appears as if very few guests were there. Hence, it is a rather quiet and enjoyable place.
Cons: The cardio machines in the gym would need some repair.
Location: Directly at one of the most popular beaches. Restaurants are on site as well as nearby. Pubs and clubs are a 3 minute walk away.

Did not check into the hotel! No rooms.

Upon attempting to check into the hotel with a transfer from the St. Lucian, I was informed that there were no rooms available at the Royal and that I would receive a credit back to my credit card for the pre-payment of the stay that was supposed to have taken place at the Royal.
