Vacation from hell
Posted Jan 28, 2013
Pros: The restaurant at pier
Cons: All of the rooms are in the garden not on the beach and they all look alike . AND THE BEACH IS NOT CLEAR
Location: A hour and a half away from the airport
I would have to say this was the worst vacation ever, all of the negative reviews are true . A bunch of cats the staff was rude . Suppose to be Topshelf liquor was watered down .No ocean front rooms all where the same no matter what room you asked for they all looked alike. Book at Grande Sandals at St.Lucia a lot better than the other two .Worst experince of my life .

Honeymooner's Paradise

Pros: The resort included a free shuttle between the three hotels on the island giving you multiple eating and entertainment options.
Location: The Land and Sea tour takes you all over the island and is the best value! The volcano is not that impressive but the Botanical Gardens are beautiful.
My husband and I went to Sandal's Halcyon for our honeymoon and had the time of our life. The hotel and the grounds were really well kept. The beach is small but clean and welcoming. There are two pools, the party pool and the quiet pool, both with bars so it's easy to find what fits you best. The staff was always helpful and fun, and the amenities (such as the airport shuttle, transport between resorts and aloe in the bathrooms) were thoughtful and great. Our room was always clean and the minibar always stocked. The front desk, concierge and excursion desk were very helpful and we used all three with no problem. We suggest doing at least one excursion! If you'd rather save money make sure to check out the other properties and the on site water sports!

Sandals did not meet our expectations.
Posted Jan 7, 2013
Pros: The air conditioning in our room worked great!!!!
Cons: Friendlier staff. Add room service. Discourage panhandling. Put drinks in a pretty glass with a tiny umbrella.
Location: The location is in Castries. A relatively large and poor city. Poverty awaits outside the gates. There's a tour company called Joe Knows. Awesome!
The room was fine but not great. No room service! The food was just ok. Also, the info says food is available 24/7. It's not. There are three restaurants but two of them are only open for dinner. The staff wasn't particularly nice. They allow panhandlers to set up shop on the beach right next to the pool. You can't walk around without them trying to sell you something. Also, I expected my Pina Colada to come in a tall glass with a tiny umbrella and fruit. It came in a plastic cup! No fruit or umbrella! If it weren't for the two excersions we took(and paid extra for) St.Lucia would have been a bust! This Sandals was so not worth the money.

Amazing get-away!
Posted Jan 9, 2013
Pros: The staff, location, food. The resort never felt over-crowed.
Cons: No complaints.
Location: Loved the beach & the smaller more intimate setting. We visited the other Sandels resorts on the island & they were nice but for us this was perfect.
This is the first time we have taken a vacation like this & the first at an all inclusive. The service. the atmosphere, the food, the staff we're amazing. Loved, loved it. Can't wait to go back!

Fabulous Honeymoon!!!
Posted Jan 6, 2013
Pros: The staff and guest were very friendly, secluded and more quiet resort which we loved and the food and bar options are great, especially Mario's!!!
Cons: A spa package was purchased for us and Sandals booked our treatment at La Toc and did not mention the resort fee of $45!!! We found later of course :(
Location: We loved the secluded beach and resort of Halcyon! More intimate and get to see familiar faces and get to know the staff and guests!
We honeymooned at Sandals Halcyon and absolutely loved our experience!!! Definate bonus to be able to stay at 1 play at 3!!! We took the Sandals shuttle to La Toc on several occasions for two dinners and a spa treatment. Do not be alarmed by the cats roaming on the property, the resort gives them their shots are they part of the family there.

Nice all-inclusive resort
Posted Jan 29, 2013 on Hotels.com
The grounds were nice - there was nice foliage and nice places for couples to find some privacy. The hotel room we stayed in was nice and quiet (though the door opened onto an open hallway next to the highway which was not very attractive and which was loud). There were two pools - a quieter pool and a louder pool. Both had groups of people smoking at the swim-up bar constantly throughout the day. The beach was not super nice, but it was okay. Most of the staff were very nice and helpful, though the bar staff seemed to get annoyed with customers at times. There were a few all-inclusive restaurants at the resort and they were all pretty good. Selection of free alcohol was pretty good as well. The tipping policy at Sandels was nice - they strictly forbid tips. Scuba diving also would have been free so there was much more included in the all-inclusive than at some all-inclusives. (We did tip for massages and trips that we took off of the resort). Wi-fi access was $40 for a week which was nice (though service was a bit spotty). There were 2 other Sandels resorts nearby - Le Toc and Grande. There were free shuttles every couple of hours to the other resorts and we could eat and drink at them for free as well. We really liked the Le Toc grounds, beach and restaurants so we spent a couple of days there.

Good for a couple.

Pros: Food
Cons: Road noise in the room
Location: Lovely beach
We had a great time in this all inclusive resort. Its a shame we could hear traffic noise from the room. Food was great, activities good. Snorkelling a disappointment - too many people, mandatory life jackets, quite impersonal. The all inclusive is definitely not a bargain, it is more expensive than staying in a nice hotel and buying all your meals etc.

OK but not a 4 star property

Friendly service, OK, if limited food, very poor beach, not enough shade, muddy water (the only place on the island), quiet. Sandals Grand is a better choice even at a higher price

The Halcyon Hotel St. Lucia
Posted Jan 11, 2012
Pros: The quietness
Cons: Food
Location: Nice but very far from the airport
The hotel was lovely and very quiet. A nice place to enjoy a vacation. The food was okay. The Pier restaurant was better than the other restaurants on the premises. I would rave about the food. It was good, but not superior.

Pros: Peaceful
Cons: Beach was small
Location: We were right in the middle of everything! Great!
