Smuggler's Cove Resort & Spa
Posted Jan 15, 2013
Pros: Beautiful grounds. Staff very nice and helpful. They did have a least two adult only pools that didn't want to share with children.
Cons: To have local conveniences available to guests that doesn't cost so much. Guests expect to hear real Carribean music not 80's America. Rooms updated
Location: Excursions and tours are a must, but they are located far from the resort and cost a lot extra, but worth the money.
Overall our stay at Smuggler's Cove in St. Lucia was fantastic. The hotel staff were friendly and courtious and attempted to get guests involved in activities at the resort. There was no pressure from hotel staff to buy extras, but they did have booths set up in the lounge for guests to check out activities on the island. The rooms need some serious updating, such as a good paint job and updated air units. There was little ventilation in the bathrooms, which gave them a sour smell unless you kept your AC on frigid temp. The space in the rooms was great. I would recommend the extra money to stay in a pool side room or ocean view room. The water sports were a blast and worth checking out. The hotel needs to not allow the vendors on the beach; they were pushy and made lounging on the beach itself very difficult. The pools were amazing and very private; BEACH VENDORS NOT ALLOWED THERE!! The food was just okay. I was expecting to have a much larger variety of seafood to include shrimp, scallops, etc and was disappointed in the choices. Drinks were great and plentiful; the water was fresh and clean to drink. The entertainment was lacking in that it was just like American karaoke. We were expecting great Caribbean music. Overall the resort was well-maintained and beautiful to sea. I would recommend taking in as many excursions as possible as they are worth it.

wonderful resort

Pros: The staff,the location,restaurants,high standards,its paradise.
Cons: Wi Fi would be better in a quite location, the Pitton lounge was the only area we could pick it up and it was hard to hear when skyping.
Location: Fab grounds,7 pools, gym, lovely cove beach. We hired a car and the island is lovely very green and lots to do.
This is a beautiful resort set in 42 acres of gardens, people are very friendly and helpful. Good restaurants, 3 al a carte where the presentation is 1st class. Lots of choice with drinks, mango, strawberry banana smoothies, branded drinks include Jim beam,Baileys,Jonny Walker vodka etc. Good water sports, loads of sun beds, you could change your beach towels between 8.30 and 4.00 every day. Zumba, aerobics, volley ball, cricket on the beach, morning and sunset walks. The resort kept high standards,no vests for men anytime in restaurants, long trousers for men in the al a carte,no topless sun bathing for women,no children around the adult only area,we loved it. We had a de lux garden room which was lovely( no 464) hugh bed, flat screen tv,powerful AC,tea coffee, lots of towels, flowers and swan towels on bed. This is the caribbeans to me,we are well traveled and have visited Antigua,Barbados etc and this was as good as any.you will not be disappointed.we would return tomorrow.

Nice hotel in a beautiful surrounding

Pros: the spacious and relaxing park and the food
Cons: the loud music at times
Location: in the north of St Lucia; tour operators pick you up. Taxi: 30USD one way for 3 persons, from Castries harbour or airport.
The room for 3 persons was fine; the beds are quite comfortable. The food is really good. We enjoyed walking in the vast compound and looking at old trees and flowers. The night activities did not appeal to us retired people. There are stones on the beach, making it unesay for physically impaired persons to get into the water.

Pros: Nursery staff were fantastic
Cons: Rude staff. basic rooms. average food
Location: Located in the north. about 15minutes away from Rodney Bay
Bottomline for any parent-if ur kids are happy you are happy. This hotel isnt great but its smart in that it caters for kid. there is a nursery for babies and aoutdoor play area. all inclusive is really convenient when you're traveling with kids as well. Kids Club for toddlers and up. lots of pools and another advantage when ur travelling with kids....all inclusive food. we got babysitters from the nursery for every night we were there. Jaronomah, Cleopatra and Roxanne were amazing-great with kids and seemed genuinely concerned. so thats the good. The not so good: the food was average at best. apart from the nursery staff everyone was either rude or really abrupt. the al a carte restaurants were always booked up. wifi was only available consistently in the Piton Lounge. the place is really big so depending on where your room is you may be in for a bit of a walk.

Smugglers Cove April 2013

Pros: The food, drinks and resort grounds.
Cons: People trying to sell us things on the beach all day.
Overall a very nice resort, we had a great time. The food is very good, and the buffet changed its theme each night which made sure we weren't bored of the buffet after one week. We went to two of the restaurants as well which were good, though the Waterside Grill fish came wrapped in plastic and was very small. The staff overall were very friendly, except at the Waterside Grill where we were mostly ignored and the staff didn't really speak with us. The bar staff were fun and talkative and the drinks never skimped on the booze. The pool areas were beautiful and the resort was very clean. It was however very annoying to have the same people on the beach every day trying to sell us things. After a few days we gave up lying on the beach and stuck to the pool areas because since the resort was particularly busy at this time of year, we were always surrounded by the same people selling necklaces. While they were friendly people and this is how they make their living, with us having very little cash they wouldn't take no for an answer. Would recommend this resort to friends but there's always a few things that can be improved.

Very friendly resort.

Pros: Friendly staff
Cons: The beach - not what you would expect in the carribean.
Location: Long way from the airport but interesting drive to resort.
Very friendly - staff exceptionally helpful. Activities team full of fun and appeared to enjoy their jobs. One or two minor downfalls i.e. Italian restuarant sometimes overwhelmed and unable to cope - long waits for meal. Extremely attractive surroundings. Good family hotel of reasonable standard.
