Good hotel for business travelersPosted Jun 17, 2013
Pros: Location, ease of finding, good security
Cons: Staff helpfulness, noise nearby
Location: Stony but pretty beach and beautiful mountains (pitons), sulfur springs, friendly rastafarians, beautiful tropical setting,
Easy to find hotel, but it was noisy in the town square until at least 10 or 11 pm and we could hear it even though our french window to the 4th floor patio was closed- not ideal for vacationing folks! Staff didn't provide a lot of information about what activities were available nearby.

Hello Thank you for taking time out to give us a review as we welcome constructive criticism to ensure the best customer service to our guests! Let me start by addressing your first issue, since we are located in the center of town you will hear outbursts of chatter from residents , however this does NOT occur through the entire day and night. Upon check in , there are a variety of brochures with activities that you can choose from , if you want us to arrange tours or activities then we will make this happen. We always ensure that our guests enjoy their stay so if you are interested in doing any activities, you let us know and we will provide a wealth of information on what you can do during you stay. Thank you again from the staff of The Downtown Hotel! Johnita Charles Assistant Manager

Pros: The shops downstairs
Cons: The noisy city life and being haggled by the locals
Location: It's right in the center of soufriere, downtown. This is the furthest thing from a resort- this is the real deal. I would call the area the ghetto.
Compared to the surrounding buildings in this area, the hotel seemed clean and cared for. However, the staff could have been more helpful. They barely spoke to us. There was a fridge, two beds, two towels, a tv, and one tiny garbage can in the bathroom. There was also a small appliance to heat water for coffee or tea, but it didnt work. We only got housekeeping when we asked for it, and all they did was remove the trash and replace the two towels. This hotel is NOT a beach front hotel. You have to take a water taxi to get to the nearest beach. The hotel sits on top of a little market/mall with shops, which is convenient, and there is a little shop in which you can get wi-fi for pretty cheap. Bring ear plugs if you plan on sleeping!

Souffrie Downtown HotelPosted May 8, 2013 on Hotels.com
The Hotel is an older hotel but it was very clean. It was awesome to stand out on the balcony and see all the sites of the town and the surrounding scenary. People of St. Lucia are very nice people!

Good for a short stayPosted Mar 17, 2013 on Hotels.com
The Downtown Hotel is a pretty good deal for what it costs. The hotel has a great central location in Soufriere with a good range of restaurants (local, resort, cheap, fine dining) easily within walking distance. Our room had a great view of the Petit Piton and the sunset over the bay. At first, we had to hunt down the concierge, but the staff was very helpful once you find them. The hotel is located in the center of Soufriere and doesn’t have convenient parking (like a parking garage or a parking lot), but we were able to park on the street by the hotel. Our room was very basic but clean, with air conditioning, a microwave, and a TV. Our shower head didn’t work very well and the bathroom smelled a bit like sulfur, but overall it was good for a short stay (we stayed for 2 nights).

Avoid the centre of Soufriere town!Posted Feb 5, 2013
Pros: None. But the rest of the island is great!
Cons: Terrible location (Soufriere town), no lift, no breakfast, feels like in India.
Location: Beggars and jobless people right in front of this hotel in the centre of Soufriere.
Overrated hotel without breakfast, without lift (3rd floor) in the middle of one of the poorest towns on the island - Soufriere. We came into Soufriere - a nest of jobless men catching tourists, even asking for money for food..., from three other really great relaxing places and comming to this hotel was a shock for us (a family). We paid in advance long 4 days! Avoid Soufriere town - even children ask for money, men stop cars and expect money (not a dollar but 10 USD or more...) for various things: to watch on your car (from who?), show parking place, some even for food - mostly in front of Downtown hotel... The town looks dirty: open channals along streets, neglected houses without paint feling apart... To be precise - Soufriere town was the only place on St Lucia where we felt unsafe. The rest of the island is great - because of extremly nice and fiendly people of St Lucia. I do not understand the reason for this difference, perhaps because cruiser ships comming only to Soufriere, perhaps another nation lives there? The area around Soufriere has some very nice natural sights, two days is enough to see them all, we reccomend an own car for that. If you want to stay in Soufriere there is one or two guesthouses in the outskirts of town - I am sure they are a better value than this hotel.
