Beautiful, spacious resort
Posted Jan 29, 2013
The Landings is a very nice resort. The hotel is meticulously maintained and spacious. The villas are large and suitable for families. The room we had was fully loaded with washer/dryer, plunge pool, stove, microwave, full size refrigerator, all household utensils and appliances. The beach is quiet and relaxing. Splendid views of the ocean and Pigeon Mountain. The only issue I have with the resort is that there is no convenience store on the premises or nearby. Some would obviously not feel that is a detriment. We would highly recommend this resort.

Great family hotel
Posted Jan 20, 2013
Pros: Great rooms and lovely beach.
Cons: Service, food choice and quality, taxis
Location: On a lovely sandy beach, close to pigeon island but no restaurants or shops within walking distance.
The hotel accommodation is fantastic, modern spacious rooms. Even the 1 bed apartment is very large and we had a huge balcony with hot tub. The beach is also very nice with lots of sunbeds, calm shallow water and a range of water sports available. It's ideal for families. The food at the hotel in both restaurants is fine but not great and the menu is very limited so better to venture out. The service can be frustrating. The staff are all very nice and try hard but there seems to be little training given. The other annoying aspect is the taxi service which is mafia-like, very expensive and no transparency on pricing. The location of the hotel means you need a taxi to get anywhere as there are no shops or restaurants within walking distance.

Superb rooms and location, poor information
Posted Jan 9, 2013
Pros: room size, quality, facilities, and hotel location
Cons: information hard to get
In terms of room quality and location, Landings is superb, in fact much better than the expedia details imply. We had rented a "seaview double", we got a two bedroom apartment with patio/jacuzzi/garden leading straight to the beach, main bedroom with full ensuite bath/shower/wc, second bedroom with ensuite, extra wc with laundry washer and dryer, fully Miele equipped kitchenette, huge living/dining area... this was not an upgrade, it was the same for everyone... landings is a hotel and owned apartment complex, the rooms are actually the apartments and the three bed apartment next to ours was on the market for US$1.6m... The staff were always friendly and cheerful, and service was excellent. The only down side was in lack of information... it is actually very simple to walk along the beach to the excellent "yachtie" restaurant on Pigeon Island, to Gros Islet where there are many restaurants and bars, even to the Marina, though we would suggest taxis after dark to/from the latter two.. but reception personnel seemed keen to keep us in or to have us use a hotel car - "there is nowhere you can walk to".. worst example was the cable connected internet in the room... I tried 3 of the sockets and several calls to reception with no luck, so had to use coffee shop WIFI... until after 6 days the room cleaner said the last guy had used the socket behind the dining table... worked perfectly!

Too quiet for us

Pros: The beach
Cons: Check in and lack of activities
The hotel had 2 restaurants, The Palm and The Beach Restaurant. The Beach's menu was very limited, best 2 choices were hamburger and fish and chips. The Palm was closed most nights, except for the last night we were there. The food was good, but it was kind of pricey ($250 for 3 people). There was only one bar, which was at the front desk and it was a 10 min walk. We ate at the Beach for breakfast, but the food was the same every morning. The had 3 same fruits, eggs, bacon and bread. We soon became very tired of the food. We found it difficult to get around without a car. The hotel provided shuttle to a mall close by, but it only ran 3 times a day. We ended up shopping and cooking at our condo most of the time, which we would have preferred not to do on vacation. The resort also didn't provide many activities for its guests - dance lessons, movies, crafts. The activity sheet looked the same everyday. The plus side was the staff was very friendly and attentive. The beach was beautiful and the condo was very clean and well appointed. I would recommend it to families with small children because of the size of condos and the beach. It is not a place for people who want more activities.

Living is easy!

We enjoyed all the modern conveniences, privacy and cleanliness of our villa. The beach is really great for both swimming and walking. Pigeon Island is just a mile away where the views and cool breezes are delightful and made a nice day trip. The Beach Club was reliably good for food and drinks, and the staff were friendly and helpful everywhere we went. Wifi was available in the Beach Club or in the reception area, but not in the room. Since two supermarkets were a quick shuttle ride down the street, we took advantage of our fully equipped kitchen to try our hand at French-Carribean cuisine after watching the sunset from the beach. It's a bit of an effort to get to The Landings from the International Airport, UVF, so we decided to helicopter back. What way to wrap up a wonderful vacation!
