Overall good experience. Motel close to beach...clean....freindly staff. Bed was less than desireable.... no soft drink dispensing machine.

FIRST TIME VISIT - MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENTSPosted Aug 19, 2013
Pros: COMFORT OF BED; LARGE BATHROOM & BALCONY; PLENTY OF CLOSET SPACE AND DRESSER SPACE
Cons: NIGHT-TIME PERSONNEL - BAD ATTITUDE FROM MAN WHO CHECKED ME IN REMOVAL OF STRAY CATS WALKING THROUGHOUT THE PROPERTY, DAY AND NIGHT
Location: OTHER THAN THE BEACHES AND BARS, NOTHING ELSE TO DO --- UNLESS YOU DROVE INTO TOWN OR HAD A PERSONAL DRIVER, WHICH IS EXPENSIVE.
POWER NOT SUFFICIENT TO USE FLAT IRON -- PURCHASED ADAPTER/CONVERTER AND NIGHT TIME ATTENDANT SAID WHAT I BROUGHT WITH ME WAS "FRENCH JUNK" AND I COULD NOT USE. WELL IT IS A FRENCH ISLAND. FOR $181.00 PER NIGHT, IT WAS INEXCUSEABLE THAT I COULD NOT USE THIS PRODUCT. TV/CABLE WAS TERRIBLE - HAD TO CONSTANTLY RESET THE CABLE BOX AND MOST OF THE TIME, THAT DID NOT WORK. HOTEL STAFF ACTED LIKE I WAS BEING TOO PICKY. NO SHUTTLE BUS FOR THE RESORT, EVEN THOUGH EVERYTHING ON LINE SAID SHUTTLE GOES TO AIRPORT AND ALL LOCATIONS (BIG LIE) - YOU HAD TO WALK 30 MINUTES TO GATED ENTRANCE IN 95+ DEGREE HEAT AND HIGH HUMIDITY TO GET TO MAIN ROAD TO CATCH SHUTTLE. I DID NOT SEE ANY HORSEBACK RIDING OFFERS AS STATED ON WEBSITE. THIS WAS MY 1ST VISIT (AND WILL BE MY LAST) TO ST MAARTEN. THE HUMIDITY WAS ONE THING I LEARNED TO HANDLE, BUT DEALING WITH THE NIGHT TIME CLERK WITH A BAD ATTITUDE AND COCKY MANNER (TELLING ME NOT TO DEAL WITH THE DAY TIME STAFF - WHO WERE EXTREMELY HELPFUL ... SEEMS THERE WAS SOME INNER COMPANY BICKERING GOING ON) .... I COULD HAVE DONE WITHOUT. LOST POWER IN MY ROOM FOR NO GOOD REASON ... THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. I HEARD SO MANY GREAT THINGS ABOUT THIS PLACE AND SADLY, IT WAS A MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT. WAS STUCK FOR 10 DAYS AND WAS READY TO LEAVE AFTER 24 HOURS.

Best Spot on Orient BayPosted Jul 21, 2013
This was my third trip to Orient Bay and Alamanda is by far the best place to stay, moreover the prices are very reasonable, given the great location. -From any room in the hotel, you're only a 100m barefoot walk from the beach. -Guests are given a card with their room/hotel info on it that can be used to purchase food and drinks from many establishments on the beach, so you don't have to bring your wallet down with you. -The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable and provided us with good advice on places to go in the area. They also set up transportation and activities for us, all of which went smoothly. -The (real) continental breakfast was very nice, but the "American breakfast" items on the menu are a bit mediocre. But that's no big deal since the free breakfast is more than sufficient. -Unless you're looking to burn $1000/night, you can't do much better than Alamanda.

Alamanda Resort St MartinPosted Jun 18, 2013
Very pleasant stay at the Alamanda. This hotel rates about 3 1/2 stars. It is very close to the beautiful Orient Beach which is on the windward side of the island. Unfortunately the wind was up the entire time during our stay, but it did not detract that much from our enjoyment of the beach. The hotel has a nice layout and a decent pool. The included breakfast consisted of breads, fresh fruit cocktail, juice and coffee. Bacon, eggs, etc., were available for an additional cost. There are several very good restaurants close by which are nice but a little pricey. I most likely would book the hotel again sometime in the future.

One great spot!Posted Jun 14, 2013
Pros: Rooms. Location. Charm.
Cons: Tub/shower was just so so but we didn't spend much time in it. Bathroom was still big.
Location: Been a lot of places and this place is WOW!
My wife and I were extremely happy with our stay. They hotel is very quaint and just what we wanted. It is located right next to orient village with all the great restaurants and steps from the beach. They whole area is unbelievable. The rooms were very large as were the balcony's. There was even an upstairs that was locked to us be could be used for more guests if needed. The beds were a little firm but still very comfortable, we are used to pillow top mattresses. We stayed in an ocean view which is on the second floor, great view. I think ocean front is on the first floor with no view other than the pool. The staff was very friendly and helpful and all spoke English. You have to remember most everyone is on island time. The free breakfast in the morning was great and there was an option to buy additional items that also looked great. We went in June the off season and there was no one there. It felt like we had the entire place to ourselves. We only stayed 4 days but already planning on going back and staying longer. There is to much to do in one trip. If you have not been to Orient Beach/St Martin you will not be disappointed. The place is out of this world amazing! Kids or no kids.

Great locationPosted May 15, 2013
Location, location, location! Walking distance to the best beach on the island,Orient Beach. Lots of great restaurants only a few yards away. Great beach bars and restaurants all along Orient Beach. Loved going to happy hour at the Bikini Beach Bar. Hotel has a great pool that we enjoyed after a full day at the beach. Nice to go for a dip before dinner. Great breakfast every morning. Great staff, very helpful and friendly. Hope to return next year!

Best locationPosted May 14, 2013 on Hotels.com
Hotel is perfect location and better than any other. It is NOT a brand new high-rise, but we didn't pay for that either. This hotel is excellent value and rooms very clean and cleaned very well daily. Excellent cont. breakfast included. Don't know how you could find a better value and location. Be aware that the French side has only 220 volt outlets. (Hotel did have a converter available)
