Very nicePosted Oct 30, 2013
A wonderful couple with a toddler run this place and live on-site. Our room was very clean - never had a problem. (I swear the maid sees it as her room and we're just being allowed to stay there temporarily.) Granted the hotel has to be one of oldest on the island and lacks some of the modern conveniences, but it is literally right on the beach. We would have preferred to be right on the beach ourselves, but we had a room off the garden. All we had to do was walk a hundred feet and we were there. The beach is very nice and sandy without rocks. There's enough hotel provided chairs and umbrellas for everyone, even if the place is full. The fact that the hotel is close to the airport is not a problem. Just about anywhere around Simpson Bay you will hear and see the jets taking off. However, they don't fly at night. We prefer to be at this area of the island because of all the great restaurants just a piece down the road. There's a few places close by to the hotel, but we always rent a car. We have been coming to St. Maarten for 20 years and used to have a timeshare, so we're well acquainted with the whole island. Without too much convincing, we've been accompanied by other couples now and again, but not this year.

Best bang for your buck on St. Maarten!!!Posted Oct 20, 2013
Pros: 1) Location 2) Cleanliness 3) Friendly and accommodating staff 4) The turtles 5) The beach being within 20 feet of the hotel
Cons: Not a whole lot. There are a lot of dogs running around on the beach but this is hard to control. However, most owners are responsible.
Location: Simpson Bay is very central with many shops and restaurants nearby. Local transit and/or taxis are readily available. Also many car rental places.
Fawnette and Michael and Sky are excellent hosts. They live at and manage the property themselves so you could not ask for better service. The terrace comes complete with real live turtles. Very private including beach chairs and umbrellas. Literally on the beach. Because of its location, the Azure is within walking distance of all amenities. Judy and I rented a car for only two of the days we were there and toured the island (both Dutch and French sides) easily within that time frame. We also took a ferry to Anguilla (British) for a morning adventure. Otherwise we either walked, took the local transit system and/or taxis. Bottom line is that we were in Holland, France and Britain pretty much all in the same day! We will certainly be back and will be recommending this "jewel" to all of our friends.

Great locationPosted Aug 24, 2013 on Hotels.com
If you like a quiet beach this is the place to stay. Close to the airport and grocery stores a few blocks away. The staff were very nice and the owners Michael and Fawnette are awesome. We will be staying there again on our next trip to St Maarten

1 night stay during long airport layoverPosted May 31, 2013 on Hotels.com
Chose Azure based on 1) proximity to SXM and 2) beach access. Had an extended layover in St. Martin on the way home from the BVIs. Really close to the airport. Beach in front of Azure was perfect; empty of crowds, clean, white sand, blue water, and walking distance to Mama's (for breakfast). The room was adequate (we only stayed one night and had no use for the kitchenette). Mike and Fawnette were out of town, but between Ramona filling in, and all the useful tips they leave for you in the room, we had absolutely no complaints. Next time in St. Martin, I'd look up Azure once again.

Great little place to stay....right on the water.Posted May 28, 2013 on Hotels.com
Loved our stay at the Azure. Rooms are large & have everything you will need. Hotel is just steps away from the water & several restaurants in walking distance. We do recommend renting a car if on the island for any length of time. Easy to get around.

Perfect location on the beachPosted Dec 30, 2012 on Hotels.com
It is not a big hotel, just some rooms on a private property, so on arrival I was personally welcomed by the owner (I think) Mike, who was very friendly! As for the room, I have seen nicer looking ones, it wasn't very new or modern, but there were no real problems with it. Just the bathroom should have been bigger with more space to put your belongings. The outside design of the hotel is very nice with many details and the hotel owners are taking good care of it. The location is perfect for relaxing on the beach, the beach in front of the hotel is VERY nice, not crowded and there are beach chairs available for the hotel guests (but they were not using them very often, so there was enough space and you had privacy). On the other hand, there is no beach bar at the hotel and the beach bars that were in walking distance didn't have many guests (in the period 20.-24. December), so no real party! Also in the neighborhood I didn't find any good place to party. It seemed to me that there are more locals than tourists in the area (this part of Simpson Bay) and I didn't feel completely safe walking around at night (I was also warned by a local in Philipsburg to be careful). A supermarket is close-by. This hotel is perfect, if you want to relax on a beautiful beach in romantic setting, but if you also want to go into a bar (with more than just a few people in it) for a couple of drinks and music, then this part of St Maarten (or maybe St Maarten altogether) isn't the best place I think.

Very comfortablePosted Nov 22, 2012
Pros: Location was right on the beach.
Cons: No view from the room.
Location: Able to walk to a couple of restaurants.
Awesome place but no view from the room. The turtles in the "garden" area were cool. Great info about the island from the owner.
