“Absolutely love this place...would return in a heartbeat!!!”

Great accommodations, great location, great experience...one of our best Caribbean vacations ever! If you are yearning for a tranquil retreat surrounded by the beauty of an island paradise this is the place for you. The beachfront villas are magnificent yet quite costly; so, we opted for an Oyster Pond townhome at CBC. (The harbor view townhome was very nice; yet, not the caliber of the beachfront property.) The photo gallery is very indicative of what to expect overall...pristine and beautiful. Dawn Beach is lovely...quiet, picturesque, and small. We will never stay in a hotel again...this place spoiled us! P.S. Renting a car is a "must" for grocery shopping and enjoying the many activities St. Maarten has to offer. (However, there are 3-4 restaurants and a convenience store (expensive) on the property just steps away from your accommodations if you are not one to venture out.)

Area recommendations

A day trip to Anguilla is a must...spectacular beaches!!! Marigot and Phillipsburg are worthy of, at least, a half day each for shopping and dining.

“Completely Amazing Place”

We vacation every few months in St. Martin and always stay at CBC! They are very friendly and helpful, and the service is great. The premises are extremely well-maintained, housekeeping does a good job, and pools are clean. Honestly I would not opt to stay in the marina townhomes as having a private plunge pool with the villas is an opportunity not to be surpassed! Mr. Busby's, a pizza parlor, and Big Fish are right outside, and all are excellent places to eat. In terms of groceries, I have found the small store there to have extremely high prices ($11 for a bag of SunChips and 2 sodas) - I think they charge in guilders and don't bother to divide by 1.8 to get the true US dollar equivalent so it ends up being ridiculously expensive. Thus I would most def venture to Sang's Supermarket, or Mr. K's (on the way to Phillipsburg) for groceries at fair prices from well-stocked stores. If you are looking for exciting nightlife and bars (ie a "party place"), you should stick to a location closer to the airport; if you are looking for a high end, dignified location that has a beautiful beach with great snorkeling that is somewhat secluded away from hustle and bustle, this place is what you're looking for! We love this place and would not stay anywhere else on the island, period.

“No where else I would rather be”

We arrived a day late due to flight delays and they let us extend our stay another day. Worked with us to get that all worked out. The villa was so much more than I thought it would be. The villa was gorgeous, the views were gorgeous, the pool and terrace was great. It was a bonus to have beach towels and bathrobes in every room. Anything you could want to have was there. I cannot say enough. You have to see it. If you have the opportunity select the Coral Beach Club to stay at. You will not be disappointed.

Getting around

Be sure to rent a car. You want to be able to see the whole island. There are so many beautiful places on the island. That way you can come and go as you please. Also can stay as long as you want. Lots of different beaches to see.

What to pack

Don't have to pack too much. Bathing suits and cover-ups.

Shopping

Even if you don't want to shop go to Front Street in Phillipsburg and Fort St. Louis in Margiot. Lots of shopping but both are neat areas to see. Really beautiful.

“Nice villas, nice location, but definitely overpriced”

Location of the resort is very nice, the private pool is very pleasant and the views are spectacular. The park itself is poor; it doesn't have a very Caribbean atmosphere. One thing that really bothered us was the fact the expensive villas don't come with umbrellas and there is really no shade at all in the morning. Umbrellas are shown on the floor plans, only when you ask for it and remain persistent, they provide you with one. The villas are big and specious however, they lack furniture and decoration.

“Amazing property!”

We stayed in a beach front unit and were blown away. Next door you have Busby's, Big Fish and Island pizza. All were really good. You have to try their pizza. It is some of the best pizza we have ever had. Then at night, it becomes Danial's Italian. Some caveats include the weather. We visited in early May and actually wished it was warmer. Also, I would avoid Usave rental car. Are car sounded like it was going to brake down and could barely make it up hills. Also, we had an early flight and they would not let us drop off the car at the airport. So, we had to drive to the airport, check in our bags and drive back to usave so we came close to missing our flight because of Usave. Also, when we got there someone else was trying to exchange their broken down car. Over all a great place. Great food everywhere. Beach was nice but for great snorkeling you have to try Captian Allen's snorkeling tour. It is also just next door.

Traveler's tip

Avoid Usave rental. Most places only except cash. Also, Busby's charges 5.00 per beach chair and CBC does not let you take theirs on the beach.

“excellent property”

We had an outstanding visit to Saint Maarten and the Coral Beach property was wonderful. A rental car is highly recommended. Wonderful restaurants in Grand Case. Dawn Beach was very nice - but there are lots of very nice beaches on the island.

Traveler's tip

when renting a car, do not leave any valuables in the car. The property is quite secure, but when out on day trips about the island, there is a problem with thieves breaking into cars.

“Great Location - Better than expected”

We just returned from a wonderful stay at the Coral Beach Club (CBC). We stayed in a 3 bedroom beach view villa,it was 25 yards from the beach and more privacy than a beach front. The private pool was great. The staff was wonderful, they met us at the airport, arranged for a rental car to met us at CBC and then returned the car at the airport. Taxi are very expensive so a rental car is a must. Big Fish restaurant is very close to CBC and VERY good. It was nice to walk to dinner. Oyster Pond is a quieter side of the island which we enjoyed. The beach was nice and very enjoyable but the surf is much stronger than other beaches. All told this was well worth the money and great location. We didn't want to leave!

Traveler's tip

Do not miss Loterie Farm, a fun hike, zip line course and WONDERFUL food. It would be worth going there just for the meal. It was a great alternative to a day at the beach.

“Beautiful Villas; Substandard Service”

I understand this is not a hotel, however, the front desk is minimally staffed with confusing procedures for requesting assistance. Upon check-in you will be provided 3 telephone numbers for the "concierge". However, there is no schedule for when they are on duty, so you never know which number to dial. It took 3 hours to get a response about a car rental. There is only one phone in the villa, so you have to stay near it to make sure you hear it ring while waiting for a response. The good: Amazing accomodations! We were upgraded from a 2 bedroom beachview to a 3 bedroom beachview. The design and decorations are modern, with flat-screen TV's, stainless steel kitchens, designer furniture. The location is somewhat isolated, and a rental car is a MUST. Nearest grocery store is 20 minutes away. There is a small, overpriced convenient store across the street. The nice restaurants of Grand Case are 20 minutes away. Hotel is on the windward side, so Dawn Beach was rough the entire visit. We drove to Friar's Beach several days and spent a small amount of time at the extremely touristy Orient Beach. Overall, recommend for families or groups that are mobile and want to explore the island. It was a wonderful trip, and regardless of the confusing service you will have an excellent time.

Rent a car from the green hotel just down the street. We paid $59 total for 3 days!
