Near Cruise wharfPosted Dec 3, 2013
The price was extremely high for a suite for 4 persons that didn't have beds to accommodate same. The beds looked to be smaller than doubles (2 beds), and only one sofa. So 2 of us had to share a smallish bed and one slept on the sofa. Way to pricey for that arrangement. Hotel was full, so there was no way to get second room. Check in and out was lengthy because of high numbers of guests and too few staff. Breakfast was good, bar was good and staff overworked, but friendly.

Surprise Upgrade!Posted Nov 14, 2013
Pros: We opted to take the breakfast plan which was well worth it. We started each day with a wonderful, relaxing meal in an open air restaurant.
Cons: They could use more comfortable mattresses.
Location: Everything is steps from the door; shopping, dining, the beach, even casinos.
We were wonderfully surprised when we arrived at the Holland House Beach Hotel. The staff remembered us from last year and upgraded us to an ocean view room. The view was terrific as was the breakfast! The King and Queen of the Netherlands made a visit to Saint Maarten while we were there, causing much disruption to road traffic. The hotel staff was very accommodating in getting us to the airport on time. We had to walk a couple of blocks in order to get to a taxi because the streets were cordoned off so one of the hotel's security men hauled all of our luggage to the cab for us. Can't wait to go back again.

Great location and viewPosted Nov 4, 2013
Pros: I loved the location right off the boardwalk/beach.
Cons: The need for some type of drawers would be nice. We had to pretty much live out of our suitcases. We hung up as much as we could.
Location: The restaurants are mostly along the boardwalk and port but plenty of shopping on Front Street and around the area; snorkeling, biking, and swimming
I had found this hotel when a cruise I was on stopped in this port and I had lunch there as I liked the open air restaurant off the boardwalk; the food was very nicely presented. On this stay, we had an ocean view room which was very nice; the rooms were clean, if sparse when it came to storage and places to put clothes for a week stay. We had to ask for additional towels for the room. Overall, the hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful; we had the breakfast as part of our amenities which is a buffet, but you can also order a few items from the kitchen. Once the restaurant staff figured out we were staying there they were much more attentive, but it took a few days. Also, our stay was right before the cruise ships started coming enmasse so it was relatively quiet and we had much of the area to ourselves along with other dwellers. That meant alot of the shops and restaurants were closed but they were all preparing for the ships and on days one was in, everyone was on high alert. So, best of both worlds.

Value for money.Posted Sep 17, 2013
Cons: The coffee
This is one of the nicest hotels I've stayed at. The room was not as I expected. It looked exactly like the one on the website. The breakfast buffet , is to die for. How many hotels give you both continental and full. The staff and security were very helpful and friendly. If you ask a question and they didn't know the answer. They would go away find the answer and get back to you. Wonderful!!!!!! I am definitely going there again.

Holland House is Amazing... Two Thumbs up!Posted Sep 16, 2013
Pros: The staff, rooms, view, and overall experience.
Cons: Ice machines on each floor.
Location: its the spot to be - you walk out the back and you are on a beautiful beach and then walk out the front and you are in the middle of a shopping oasis!
My husband and I stayed her for our honeymoon for 10 days. Our first night there the AC wasn't working in our room, we called the front desk and the immedialty upgraded us to a suite for the inconvenience. All of the staff was very welcoming. The rooms were clean, modernly updated, and relaxing. The view overlooking the harbor was breath taking. I want to send a special thank you to everyone there for all that they did to make our honeymoon so memorable. Kizzy at the front desk is truly an outstanding concierge! She took complete control and scheduled all of our excursions and advised when and where we needed to be. It took all the guessing work out of our trip.

Great Hotel Great People Great Time!!!Posted Sep 6, 2013 on Hotels.com
Fabulous hotel with great food, the beach service provided by Chris was second to none. He provided great recommendations to local bars and restaurants which all delivered as he said they would. Thoroughly enjoyed our time at Holland House we will most definitely be back. Congratulations to the owners on their hiring policy because everyone we encountered was a credit to the Hotel and the Island.

Great hotel on a wonderful beachPosted Aug 29, 2013
Pros: Our Junior Suite facing the beach was spacious, clean, had excellent air conditioning, and had the best hotel bed we've ever slept in. We'll be back.
Cons: A concierge to help with recommending and facilitating activities. The local area didn't have much happening in the evening, but it was off-season.
Location: Great Bay Beach in August was almost deserted. The Hotel provided comfortable, padded beach loungers with umbrellas and food/drink service. Relaxing.
We've been to St. Maarten 3 times in conjunction with cruises, enjoying each visit. We picked off-season, August, deliberately for a beautiful, tropical location without crowds at a reasonable price. We got all we wanted, and then some. Without a cruise ship in port, the beach was about deserted, but Holland House provides loungers, umbrellas, and beach service. A full breakfast was included, the room was clean, modern, and spacious with very good air conditioning and the most comfortable bed we've slept in for a long time. The Hotel restaurant was very good, exhibiting an excellent chef. For shoppers, all the duty-free shops were open on normal operating hours. All this for a rate that can't be matched by a U.S. Beach hotel. Our plan was relaxation and decompression without crowds or hassles. We couldn't have been more pleased. The hotel staff was friendly and attentive. As expected, in the Caribbean time moves a little slower, and service didn't happen at fast-food pace. In that setting, it really doesn't matter; we had nowhere else to be. On our last day we were trying to figure out how to say longer.

Location: The boardwalk is a great place to stroll.
The best spot on the boardwalk.People not even staying there would gravitate to it for its bar and restaurant etc. Rooms were airy and crisp.

great shopping locationPosted Aug 4, 2013 on Hotels.com
I like this hotel due to its daytime activities. You canspend the day at the beach with good ambiance, rent jet skis, shop and eat well. However at night this is not a safe location to be out and about. The restaurant and bar service are good but the lady in the front desk every morning needs some serious customer service skills, she's quite rude. The A/C fan never seems to stop despite having it set to automatic and the tempreature being raised. Other than this I like this hotel.
