“would not go back”
I would not go back if it were free! Ants, only English TV station is CNN. 1st floor sliding door had broken lock. Looked like it had been broken into numerous times from bent frame and crushed lock. Finally, got room change to 2nd - not much better! Rooms are incomplete - missing tables, chairs etc. Cooking area on patio in shambles.
“Needs renovation.”
The rooms do need a renovation. Esspecially the bathroom and the doors.
“Our second stay here”
This hotel is a good value. It is not a luxury hotel and the prices are not luxury prices. We enjoy the small, but not crowded beach on Simpson Bay. The breakfast is plentiful and the location of the restaurant (open to the beach and bay) is very nice. Smoking by other guests can be a problem.
“Beware”
I picked this hotel for the free breakfast but it was not cooked to order. This hotel was not clean and it has a pest problem, so be careful. I can not recommend this hotel at all. I travel on vaction at least four times a year and this was the worse hotel I have ever stay in. Plus, don't look for a bell hop.
“Not impressed”
I received to many bug bites, in my room. No hotel activities, plus no one in the beach water, due to the rocky moss under the water.
“Horrific!!”
We booked this hotel for one night after staying in anguilla so we would be close to the airport. When we arrived, there was no bellman so we had to carry our bags up 2 flights of stairs. We got to our room and the electricity wouldn't work so we had to go to the front desk where they were not very helpful. Once we switched outlets in a dark room we discovered tons of mosquitos! We went to the front desk and asked for another room and were told there are mosquitos all over the island and it couldn't be helped although they did put us in another room. The rooms were horrible but at least there were not as many mosquitos in our new room. Thr included breakfast was a buffet and the food was terrible. I could not wait to leave St Maarten because of this horrible experince. We checked out as soon as we could and went to the airport 2 hours earlier than we needed to just to get out of this hotel!!!
“Very nice place to stay”
Very nice, clean, peaceful place to stay for your vacation. Spacious rooms with balcony facing Simpson Bay are giving you all comfort you need. Great breakfest buffet with plenty to choose and eat. Good beach for taking sun bath but not too good for swimming because of sea grass.
“liked the location and hotel”
my husband, myself and another couple booked two rooms at the Mercure Marigot Bay, St. Maarten after a week long sailing charter. It was good to be on land and we were pleasantly surprised at the hotel and the amenities. The staff was friendly and checked us into our rooms early. They were next to each other like we had ask, right next to the pool and resturant. However, I would recommend grabbing a cab and eating somewhere else for dinner as the food at the resturant was not that good. Other than that our stay was more than we expected having booked online site unseen.
“Great deal”
We wanted a small hotel (not a high-rise resort) and got a great deal at the Mercure. It's on a quiet lagoon with calm water and there is access to the oceanside beach about a 10-minute walk up the road. There is a grocery store and liquor store a 5-minute walk in the other direction. The hotel room was more like an apartment, with a full bed plus two couches that were really daybeds, two full bathrooms, and a balcony with small kitchenette (although the water was turned off to that sink and we did not try to use the stovetop). The only complaint was the mattress was extremely worn out. We both had backaches after the second night. So we flipped the mattress ourselves... and slept much better for the rest of the trip! Guests there were definitely not a young crowd. We are 30 and 35, and were the youngest there by far. But we appreciated a nice quiet place to stay and we would stay there again.
