Island paradisePosted Sep 7, 2014
Pros: Nestled in one of the most beautiful places in the world.
Cons: Continue the transition to Riu business model while keeping the charm.
Location: Private, quiet, beautiful with close proximity to supermarket, excursions & Grand Case.
Fabulous family getaway for 5 of us. Direct flights, rented an SUV for the week which is recommended for getting to/from airport & excursions & dinners in Grand Case. While still in transition the entire staff is very accommodating. The concierge, Claudette, was a tremendous help with booking our snorkel tour with Captain Alan and dinner recommendations. The true gem is the privacy and beauty of Anse Marcel, from the gardens, the mountains, the pool, spa, beach and charming people. This is a memorable spot to return to time and again.

Relaxing.......Posted Aug 27, 2014
We are in our 30's and first vacation leaving the kids at home. The hotel was great. A little hard to find at first because the signs to the hotel are a little hidden. We had a rental car which is a must. The hotel location is great if u want to relax and enjoy either as a couple or with kids. The pool was enormous and clean. The beach was beautiful and with little waves. Also great for floating around. The resturant was nice and cozy and the spa treatment was great. Very nice place to relax. If u want wild and crazy this is not the place to be.

Pros: The beach, That's all.
Location: Very far from everything. Its very secluded, which it would have been nice for an adults only place, but it was full of families with children.
The Hotel staff was very pleasing, but the hotel need serious renovations. It is old and the rooms are not nice at all. I was very disappointed.

Overrated! Nice , but very hard to get to.Posted Aug 15, 2014
Not what you will expect from Riu hotels .The gardens are very nice , and the pool is beautiful but rooms need refurbishing. Although the rooms are spacious , they are very simply decorated.Bathrooms are nice but they lack privacy : i.e. the toilet is open, it does not have a door. Hotels staff was not very friendly nor helpful. Do not expect any pampering. But the worse part is how to access the hotel. If you are in your rental car or driving to the hotel be prepared to drive more than 35 minutes Up & downhill. The roads are not that bad , but there are not many signs through out the island. Once you actually find it , the road to the hotel is dangerous, extremely steep ,very narrow and Totally dark at night. This hotel is not worth the trip; better to stay closer to the airport.Overpriced when you consider how difficult it is to get to it.

Probably the best hotel on St Martin.Posted Aug 11, 2014
Pros: Great location, quiet beach, courteous staff.
Cons: Nothing we can think of.
Location: there are water activities on site on the beach to book. short taxi ride the ferrys and other parts of the island.
We had a memorable time at the RIU. we initially stayed at other hotels on the island but were not as impressed as with this hotel. our room faced the courtyard (no rooms facing the ocean unfortunately) and were large and comfortable. they have a great pool and fantastic private beach for the hotel. the staff were courteous and helped us arrange activities and our trip to Anguilla. Would definitely stay here again.

Very nice hotel and amenitiesPosted Jul 22, 2014
Pros: Beautiful grounds and entrance. Very nice pool and amenities. Very good breakfast buffet. Great staff.
Cons: Although we don't watch much TV on vacation, the reception could be improved as we experienced some outage, especially during some world cup games.
Location: A little secluded if someone doesn't drive, but we did. Close to Grand Case for someone who likes to sample different restaurants like we did.
A very nice hotel with an equally nice beach where we relaxed on the lounge chairs with or without an umbrella all courtesy of the hotel. The infinity pool was just as inviting. The grounds were well kept with all kinds of plants that would provide a meal to the local iguanas, some of them large and not too shy. The food was excellent with a great breakfast buffet. As I always say, the people make the difference and they were great, we spent a beautiful week there.
