Totally dissatisfied

Posted Nov 15, 2014
Check in took over an hour despite arriving at 16.00.. Both restaurants essentially closed and had to eat at buffet.. So much snow on TV could not see the picture.. Electrical outlets didn't work to charge phones.. When we complained told to come vack next year and it would be better

Peaceful

Posted Nov 15, 2014
Stayed on the Dutch side before staying at the Riu and it was such a pleasant surprise. Very quiet, peaceful, and clean. The beach is so still and perfect. Felt like a little piece of heaven. Besides the renovations going on, this hotel was just close to perfect. Everything is new in an old French style. Beautiful!

Disappointing

Posted Nov 14, 2014
Location: Nothing at all
The hotel is under renovation, only one restaurant was open and the food was always the same. It was not worth the money spent and it was unfair to say the least not to let a guest know about the hotel appearance before accepting reservations. Spa was disappointing also, it was more a shop around the corner than anything else. Hotel is remotely located and there is nothing to do or see at night. I will not return there

Misleading as to available amenities.

Posted Nov 11, 2014
Went last weekend and had no idea that only 1 restaurant would be open for our entire all inclusive visit. The restaurant that was open served only buffet styled food for all 3 meals. No food available at pool or room service. The restaurant has terrible lighting inside and reminded us of a hospital cafeteria with the bright lights. If you choose to sit outside, you heard constant construction day and evening from the facility directly next door which was under construction at all hours. On Saturday evening they even had a huge wedding party sit outside (even though there was clearly not enough room with the other hotel guests), and a tacky band play outside on the patio during dinner! Since there was no where else to eat, the hotel guests had no choice but to part of the wedding party. Only one bar open in the evening in the lobby for all of the guests, and never saw anymore than 2 bartenders serving drinks to all of the guests. Construction non-stop by the pool and beach for the restaurant down there was also not open and under construction. Couldn't get peace anywhere. Poorly run and managed.

Lovely place on a beautiful beach

Posted Nov 11, 2014
Ance Marcel is a clean, sugar sand beach that would have been a great place to relax except for the loud construction that an employee proudly told me is going on day & night. The hotel has changed ownership but failed to let me know that only one restaurant was open. This is a buffet style place that was designed to be unpleasant. The lights are such bright fluorescent that everyone looks ancient. Very noisy and freezing inside. Since the place is fairly remote, you need a car to get anywhere else. The ownership change also meant much confusion with staff. The new bathrobes had not yet arrived and details were not attended to.

Nothing not to like.

Great location if you like the quiet French side, great staff, really interesting entrance over the hill. Take the catamaran ride that the concierge Claudette will arrange. A little pricey but worth it.

Nice Hotel

Posted Oct 14, 2014
Pros: Close to the beach and the privacy
Cons: The menu in the restaurant, including more dishes.
Location: rent a car or a boat and turn around the Island.
Nice beach, so calm, the infrastructure is well, the people is the best
