Sea View Beach HotelPosted Nov 6, 2013
I enjoyed my stay as Sea View, Centrally located on the board walk,,my room, had a great view,,,not all of them do,,,,access to the beach was a walk down the stairs, and across the walk. The building is old,,,but so are all the building along Front St. Not a polished and buffed out, but clean dally, not falling down, No Bugs, and quite, The price was right, the Staff,,,EXcellent,,,took care of me from start to finish. Will book again on next trip down...........

No way Man!Posted Aug 5, 2013
Cons: first seeing it
Location: all black run down neighbourhood. Not bad people, but not what I am used to being from the west coast of Canada in the country.
My wife and I arrived at night in a very old run down all black part of town. Looking back on the first night now, I realize all the islands, save St Barts are composed of all black people and most of the towns are in very poor condition. We should have booked a chain resort or something of that nature. On the positive side the very old bed did have clean sheets and there were no bugs (we certainly looked). The air conditioner worked and the bathroom was was quite acceptable.

EXCELLENT FOR THE PRICE. IN TOWN AND BEACH.Posted Jul 7, 2013
Pros: THE ROOM, FRIENDLY SERVICE FROM THE STAFF AND THE HOTEL IS IN TOWN SO I CAN WALK ALONG THE BEACH TO THE FERRY TO GO TO ST. BARTHS, FWI.
Cons: EXPEDIA NEEDS TO PAID THE HOTEL IN ADVANCE.
Location: THE HOTEL IS IN THE MIDDLE OF TOWN AND THE BEACH IS RIGHT THERE IN FRONT OF YOU.
I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT I HAD TO PAY FOR THE ROOM AND FOR CALLS TO EXPEDIA BECAUSE IT WAS NOT PAID IN ADVANCE WHICH WAS SUPPOSE TO BE DONE THROUGH EXPEDIA. I HAD TO WALK A LONG DISTANCE LATE AT NIGHT IN TOWN TO FIND AN ATM TO GET CASH TO PAY FOR THE ROOM. THIS LIMITED ME TO A VERY LOW SPENDING IN ST. MAARTEN, DWI AND BARTHS, FWI. I ALSO HAD NO HOT WATER AND NO WAKE UP CALL IN THE MORNING.

Love to St Maarten from TRINIDAD.Posted Jun 1, 2012
Cons: No Parking
Location: Convenient for bathing, walking, shopping and eating.
The receptionist on the evening shift was helpful. The staff showed us a good face all the time. I felt comfortable because of the security. It was convenient for shopping and bathing. I will go back there.

Basic hotel, but friendly staffPosted Apr 1, 2012
Pros: The staff, the breakfast
Cons: No elevator, the paint smell, lack of hairdryer
Location: Right smack in the center of town. Very convenient for this part of the island.
We chose this hotel because of its central location in Phillipsburg. We read the hesitant reviews from previous visitors, but chose it despite these. The hotel is very central; right on the boardwalk and near all the shops and the tourist information. There is a public beach across from it with "beach boys" who supply hotel guests with beach beds and umbrellas at no cost. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They have recently installed cable t.v., though the connecting cable was loose and lost connecetion often. They served the best pancakes in the Caribbean. The hot water was quick and plentiful (has not always been a given on our trip). However, there are some downsides. The lobby is one floor up from the street with no elevator (we knew this from previous reviews). They got a staff member to help us up with our luggage. They are presently undergoing some work and have been painting (strong paint smell) and building and there is noise. There are none of the usual hotel amenities like hairdryers, shampoo, etc. Located on a busy street so no parking and the taxis who come to drop off and pick up end up blocking traffic. Visitors should know that Phillipsburg shuts down around 5 PM when the cruise ships leave and there are very few restaurants open after then. Simpson's Bay is much livelier in the evening and has many more retaurants. Took a cab for an island tour of both the Dutch and Frenchy sides.

Great location, shabby placePosted Apr 24, 2011
It started when I heard my taxi driver say he was taking a lady to the creepy hotel. The location was great--on the beach and on Front Street, and the price was the only thing reasonable for a one night stay before catching up with a cruise ship in St. Martin. The place is very shabby with lots of peeling paint and rust under the air conditioning units. The room was small ,but adequate. I was ok there, but my husband wouldn't have liked the place. Before I eventually found the remotes, it looked like my only channel on tv showed the 700 club. Actually, every channel showed the same thing. About an hour later I found the remotes for the tv and air conditioning unit. When using the shower, it took a long time for it to adjust to hot water. I'm so used to finding shampoo in rooms that I didn't bring any, so used the bar soap. It was not the quietest of places, even though my room (or a window) faced the ocean. Someone was folding towels/ linens outside my window in the middle of the night.

Very good budget hotel near boardwalk and casinoPosted Jun 16, 2010
Sea View is a simple hotel, very suitable for budget travelers, friendly staff and clean. Entry next to Casion at Frontstreet, rear entree to both Frontstreet and Boardwalk, so you can go swimming from your room in one minute.

Not Impressed but price was rightPosted Nov 25, 2009
First impression was bad as the hotel staff barely even talked to me. I had to constantly ask questions and then answers were one word responses. The room was O.K (clean) and I was only there for one night so I could live with it for the price. Location was great as it was near the marina where I was boarding a dive boat the next day. The hotel is also on Front Street where most of the activity is. There were a few nicer hotels down the street which is where I will stay the next time.
