Great time at Westin St. Maarten

Posted Apr 1, 2014
Pros: Hotel staff offered high standard of service. The room was very clean. The food served at the hotel 's restaurant was excellent.
Cons: The staff members working at the beach should serve more drinks to the guests.
Location: Very good location, close to leisure facilities.
The resort is situated close to the beach. The beach is very clean and well maintained. Not far from the hotel lays the Oyster Pond Bay with a few restaurants and marina. It takes 20 minutes drive to reach Philipsburg with many shops and good restaurants.

A short but great stay. Had a great breakfast. And the grouper in the casual restaurant was excellent.

Nice only if you want an adventure

Pros: Staff
Cons: the only thing the room needed was for the grout in the bathroom to be cleaned properly and resealed.
Location: Not all that much near Orient beach (nude) mama Pizza was good down the road. French side (right turn) 1/2 mile two mini markets ...best buy..
The hotel is 30 minutes away from the airport on twisting roads and the hill before the hotel is quite steep. I would not drive a car if you are a city driver this is back country driving. We found limited shade, pool cool and the beach nice but once in the water the bottom was very rocky, which made it difficult to get use too. Prices are about the same as New York prices high, food was good, but $8:00 for a medium size bag of chips a little to much. Hardly anyone gambled, machines were paying back about 95% percent so if you moved after the machine went cold you wouldn't lose much. Very few on the blackjack tables. Bar didn't have silver label Barcardi until the last night. Drinks again about the same as NY. We had a problem the first night ordered a King bed got two full beds, we complained and the manager changed us the next night. Not over crowded and the push on the time share once they knew you were not interested was okay. Without shade no umbrella, no big palm trees, or huts and the shelters at $115.00 a day... I would not be going back or purchasing a condo here. But yet the staff was good, room was big and nice, about the only thing the room needed was for the grout in the bathroom to be cleaned properly and resealed. Just didn't look that great.

Great Vacation

Posted Mar 20, 2014
What a great experience. The hotel was exactly like the pictures. The staff was very attentive, which is not always the case in the Eastern Caribbean. The room was clean and comfortable. The bathrooms were big and updated. Definitely rent a car and explore the island. Lots of great restaurants and experiences.

Great Location

Posted Feb 18, 2014
Pros: Location, beach, pool and amenities including restaurants and beach bar.
Cons: We had to deal with several people at the front desk that were in training. Check-in and out was a little longer than necessary.
Location: There are some very nice restaurants, and marina. Otherwise most everything you want is on site or an easy drive from the Westin.
The Westin was a very pleasant stay, with nice rooms and amenities. The beach, pool and grounds are well kept and comfortable. Our room was clean and very nice size. Views change with your cost of the room but even the non beach rooms had balconies and nice views.

Quick get away

Had a very nice time. Lovely place. Good food. Not happy about the local beach animals seen in the hotel grounds but they didn't cause any trouble.

Not very clean or well maintained.

Posted Feb 10, 2014
I booked a room that was described as resort view...it was looking at a concrete retaining wall. Add to that that the bed linens had multiple stains and the room smelled of mold. Additionally the club chairs at the main lobby had disgusting soiled covers that you wouldn't want to even consider sitting on. Basically the facility is poorly maintained, poorly cleaned and poorly managed. The wait staff is also poorly trained and service is slow or non existant. I enjoyed the island but won't be back to this resort.

Nice Hotel on Dawn Beach

Posted Feb 7, 2014
Pros: When checking in, the original room was not up to standards in the bathroom. When speaking to the management, they instantly upgraded our room!
Cons: Overall experience was great with the only drawback being the pushy condo sales people.
Location: Big Fish across the bay is a phenomenal restaurant! If you do the condo tour you can take a catamaran ride across to St Barths.
Dawn Beach is a nice cove where the Westin is essentially the only hotel/resort on the beach. The views from the ocean front rooms is impressive. The onsite dining options are decent and this is important as there aren't many local options around Dawn Beach. The swimming pool/bar/beach attendants are nice and willing to offer up suggestions if you aren't sure what you want to eat or drink. Sit back, relax, and let the Westin pamper you while you look out over the ocean towards St Barths.

Getting old

The hotel while once terrific is no in need of renovation in terms of bathrooms and hallways.
