Well-worn but comfy efficiencies ON the beach

Posted Feb 24, 2015
Pros: Convenience! Price was great for being right on the beach, parking was great and easy, available just 2 weeks before our Feb vacation, full kitchen
Cons: Facilities are well worn...rust in spots...could use a facelift? ALSO, security bars for sliding picture windows would provide reassurance.
Location: Many restaurants and convenience stores within walking distance. John's Pass and other attractions a short drive away.
Rooms open to outside, not indoor corridors, as do most Gulf properties. Wish I would have asked for a room on a higher floor - they would have accommodated, I am sure, and I was nervous the first night allowing my child to sleep in the sofabed under the picture window. Being on the first floor, and on the corridor leading to the pools and the beach, we heard everyone walking by as though they were in the room with us. And no one was being particularly loud. We got used to it, though, after the first night. The pools and hot tub were convenient and enjoyable, although my children thought one of the pools was dirty, and did not want to go in at first...then they discovered it was just "stained" and thought that was hilarious. Many aspects of the hotel showed some definite age, but for the most part, did not detract from our enjoyment. The room was perfectly clean when we arrived, and included cooking and dining tools along with the full stove. There are lots of extra towels below the sink, which I wish we'd have discovered earlier! The beach is lovely, just steps away from our room...however, after setting ourselves up in a cabana that was printed with "Alden Beach" on it, we were told they must be rented for a daily fee. This was confusing, even after reading the hotel's guide. Nice restaurant options and a convenience store within walking distance. We did not have time to use the tennis, basketball or shuffleboard courts. Would definitely return.

Suite confortable au bord de la mer

Posted Feb 12, 2015

Great location on the beach.

Posted Feb 10, 2015
Pros: The location--beautiful grounds and view of the gulf.
Cons: I wish there was a way to request a room above the first floor level.
Location: A number of seafood restaurants nearby as well as a grocery store to help stock the refrigerator.
This is an older hotel, but the room we stayed in had recently been renovated. Tastefully painted, new bathroom fixtures, kitchenette appliances--all very nice. Thick bathroom towels...and plenty of them. We had a first floor room. Next time I would book online, but follow up with a phone call to make sure I had a room on an upper floor. Would have made it easier to enjoy the gorgeous view. Very good value for the money! Would definitely stay here again.

Pros: On the beach and able to walk to restaurants and shopping.
Cons: Room needed a good cleaning. Portion of beach designated as dog friendly.
Location: Restaurants and Shopping.
This is the third time using Alden Suites. Good room rates and located on the beach. The addition of the Snapper Oasis next to the Cabana Bar was a plus.

Could use some updating but right on the beach

Posted Feb 4, 2015
For the price it was a great room with a small kitchette. We had 4 adults plus a baby so it was really nice to have the extra living room space for him to run around and play. The beds were very comfortable and the cleaning staff did a great job. They did provide a crib but it wasn't in the best shape., one item that could definitely use an update. Would definitely stay there again. Right in the beach, a lot of local restaurants within walking distance and it was a great price for the space.

beautiful views

Posted Feb 2, 2015
Pros: The people who work there. They were all very nice ;0)
Location: Lots of places to eat within easy walking distance either on the beach or road. Lots of shops close by also. Shell Island tours/Fairy a must also.
The only problem we had with our stay was that our bedroom window was right in front of the stairwell. We had to leave it closed all the time so there was no cross breeze. We also felt the need to keep the drapes closed so it let the room very dark. Other than that , it's a beautiful place and the views from the deck were awesome. Everyone took real good care of us!!
