It was right on the beach which we really lovedPosted Apr 11, 2014
Pros: It was big but relatively quiet and everyone was friendly
Cons: The bathrooms could use some updating and it could have a larger coffee pot in the kitchen
Location: We visited St Petersburg and there were a lot of nice restaurants - had a nice time
We enjoyed our stay and loved being right on the beach. The restaurants were great and the people were very friendly.

Comfortable relaxing & affordable at St Pete'sPosted Apr 9, 2014
Pros: Loved the location, price, very comfortable
Cons: The outside color would make the whole place look so much more up to date and nicer overall.
Location: There are many really good restaurants nearby, many beach bars/restaurants, free trolley, beach volleyball, putt putt golf, shopping, beach activities
This was our first time visiting St Pete's beach area. We were very pleasantly surprised and hope to return next year. What we liked most about it is it's an older hotel area that is not built up nor is it too fancy. We like to relax, have fun, and most of all feel comfortable in our hotel and with those around us. We enjoyed the nice blend of people there... families, locals, couples, retirees, there was a little bit of every walk of life. My 21 year old daughter and I felt very safe as well. We really liked the Alden Suites, especially it's location. Grocery store is a few blocks away, a few fantastic restaurants within a couple minute walk, ice cream shop, beach shop, and many very fun beach bars with live entertainment. The whole trip was very affordable and was pretty amazing for what we paid - we had a fabulous view of the ocean/beach, could hear the ocean, very nice balcony, brand new kitchen with everything we needed, nice bathroom, two nice TV's with access to movies on demand, great air conditioning, not loud at night, free parking, and again, a great location. The only thing we didn't really like was the outside color... trivial, I know. It could look so much nicer if it weren't yellow.

Nice hotel close to beachPosted Apr 5, 2014
Pros: kitchen facility, tennis courts, close to beach and Publix.
Cons: Tennis courts could have wind barriers inserted around the fence to block some of the wind because it gets pretty windy.
Location: There are plenty of restaurants and publix near the hotel. Also, close to Fort Desoto State Park.
Great hotel close to beach. We utilized the two tennis courts a lot during our stay. Also, great to have a fully functioning kitchen to accomodate our dietary restrictions. Publix is nearby.

Great stay despite the weatherPosted Apr 1, 2014
Pros: 2 pools, hot tube, tiki bar and paper delivered to room
Cons: The hot water availability
Location: Lots of places to eat near by within walking distance, miniature gulf close and Publix.
Front desk staff were friendly. The room was clean and roomy. We didn't use the stove but the fridge is plenty big. The bed was so-so, the springs could be felt and they squeaked, plenty of pillows though. Biggest disappointment is the shower and lack of hot water. There was about 3 minuets of hot water then it went cold. because this was a cold rainy weekend this was a huge necessity and the facility did not deliver. We never used the hot tube because it was full of kids the entire time. There were 2 pools, 1 was heated and the kids seem to enjoy it. I would go back when warmer weather and the heated shower wasn't such an issue, and I bring extra back relief.

Good spring break hotelPosted Mar 28, 2014
Pros: Beach, activities
Cons: Bathrooms a bit dated.
Location: Fabulous beach with many restaurants within walking distance.
Pool, hot tub, fabulous beach and many activities for spring break at the Alden. Rooms are a bit old but clean and comfortable. A bit noisy with all the spring breakers, but enjoyable.

Old, 1970's vintage hotel - needs upgradesPosted Mar 26, 2014
Pros: Near the beach, but so weren't the other hotels.
Old hotel in need of upgrades. Great location on beach, but pools filled with noicy kids. Hotel staff not very accomindating. Very disappointed. Hotel staff almost hit us flying through parking lot. Just laughed and ran into the building. Certainly not worth the money. All in all a very disappointing stay. I will go somewhere else. Plenty of nice hotels nearby that are clean, quiet, and worth it.

Great for a week-long stayPosted Mar 23, 2014
Pros: Clean, great location, spacious, decent price.
Cons: It would be nice if hotel guests got a reduced rate on the beach chairs in front of the hotel.
Location: Right on the beach with lots of restaurants and activities nearby. Publix & Walgreens are just down the street. Larry's Ice Cream is AWESOME!
This is my third stay at the Alden Suites. My husband, two teenagers and I spent Spring Break here. The room was plenty big for the four of us. We actually booked one of the smaller rooms, with two full-size beds and a queen-size fold-out couch. I loved having the kitchenette available! It came in really handy. You can't beat the location, and it's nice to have covered parking available on hot days. The pools are nice and clean, and I saw several people taking advantage of the gas grills on the deck. The little convenience store is nice to have available, too. I would definitely go back, again. We loved hanging out on the patio (we were on the ground floor). It was nice having patio furniture to use. My only advice is, if you're a light sleeper, don't get a room right next to the bar. We were late in making our reservations, so that was all that was left.

OkPosted Mar 23, 2014
We had a fun time but we were surprised with the hotel at the price that it was. We thought we would get a more updated room and the doors would not open to the outside parking lot for that price.
